  • I routinely find disability conditions that patients haven't mentioned, either when filling out Form SSA-3373 (Functional Report - Adult), or when I ask them to describe their disabiities. These are often old injuries, or problems the patient has gotten used to and no longer thinks much about - but everything that is a work-related limitation is important in a disability application, so don't leave anything out.

Thank you for this video. I have my medical exam in two weeks. I have been keeping a contemporaneous daily journal. I am taking it with me.

A daily journal is an EXCELLENT idea! I'm going to be making a video about keeping a journal. From watching Social Security disability attorney videos I've learned judges put a lot of credence in journals in appeals. I wish more patients kept journals.

You would be surprised at what a person can get used to.

I forgot to tell the doc a couple of things. I mentioned two things as I was leaving and she wrote it down.
When you have chronic pain , or limitations, it becomes normal.
She didn’t do an head to toe. You should train them all 😊

If you forgot some important limitations and Social Security hasn't decided your case yet, you can send them a letter with the additional information. If you've already been denied you can appeal, and include the additional information in the appeal. You can continue to send information until a decision or appeal is finalized.

@@DisabilityExams thank you, I will do that. It’s 57% through the process. I wrote it all down on the questionnaire, I just didn’t tell the doc everything, honestly she didn’t ask a lot.

Hi Dr Foster, your videos are very informative. I am up for a cdr exam in April and have been disabled since 2010. My disabling condition is complicated and am really confused how to explain everything in the short amount of time. I have a congenital syndrome but was asymptomatic until my adult life. It unfortunately affects different parts of my body. I don’t want to go in sounding like a hypochondriac but I don’t want to miss anything either. I also now have long Covid which causes respiratory issues. Should I write it all down? I don’t want to confuse the examiner. Thank you. K. A.
