  • @mjmcginty

    What you need to do when birds get close is fly straight up 20-30m higher than they are. No bird can go straight up so this is intimidating and puts the bird in what it considers a very vulnerable position (attacks are always from above.) I haven't had a chance to try it with eagles but it works well with guls and other species, the instincts should be the same. Try it next time.

    • @ia6980

      Eagles can climb at around 80° angle, thats almost straight up, i just saw it today, they come to their nest from below and then go up at around 80° angle, so if ur drone is not fast at climbing then good bye drone

    This just came up as a recommendation for me. Wow, stunning landscape and incredible footage. I have to agree with the many other comments on the choice of music track, but it all comes down to personal taste, I guess...and the solution was simple. I watched it with the volume on zero. The eagles are truly majestic birds, and the fact the camera kept filming is a testament to the quality of DJI's components. Thanks for sharing.

      I fly drones and am learning about editing videos. I fly a very fast drone that has a good sound. So I don't worry about music so much. The drone he's flying isn't what we call a ripper. And he may or may not be recording with a gopro. If he's just recording with the drone it doesn't record sound. And because of copyrights and such it prevents you from putting cool well known songs that may be more fitting. So whatever app he's using to edit his video offers basic music. Rarely are any of the songs desirable. It stinks. I've dealt with it. My videos have just my motor sound . Because I strap a gopro on my drone and it records sound. Without a gopro or similar action camera he can't get any sound from his flights. It's a sucky situation. Stupid copyright

    I flew Hanggliders for 11 years Advanced rated, with Bald Eagles and Red Tail Hawks flying around us often. I was even attacked in mid air by a Red Tail Hawk in Eastern Washington, it dived on me and tore the leading edge of my HPII Tri Lam Mylar sail, and I distinctly remember seeing feathers, (LOL). They're fearless creatures and as a current Yuneec Typhoon Drone Pilot I sometimes get the local Bald Eagles or Red Tails circling my Drone, LMAO. I'm not laughing at the time though ... This is a great video capture of a very rare moment on earth. I hope the drone retrieval didn't take too long.

    • @CubularCreeper
      @CubularCreeper Před 8 lety +4

      Nah dude that wasnt breakage of any feathers. That was probably plastic from the drone being scratched off, or just the natural occurrence of feather dust shaking off due to impact. Birds have dust on their feathers which is easily shaken off. When a new feather is made (once a year for every feather, they get replaced so even if the feathers were broken the bird would be fine man learn your shit before youtube commenting) the feather is encased in a thin flaky skin like encapsulate, which breaks down into dust when the bird preens their new feathers. Its actually quite itchy for them if they dont break down this substance. Anyways, that stuff you saw at 1:02 did not mean the bird was hurt in any way and even if it did its not really the drone operator's fault that eagles decided to attack his toy helicopter, youre just trying to complain about drones in any way you can.

      You can put any color stickers on it you like. I have the advanced and used the red stickers to identify the front the same as the flashing lights. They come with red, silver and gold. I thought the same before until I bought one!

    I set my Return to Home altitude high for these reasons. You climb faster that the bird, then head straight home. You can then yaw the camera around since the craft is automatically heading toward you anyway

    I really hope that never happens to my Mavic. I love the Austrian mountains, but I better make sure that there are no eagles in the sky when I launch my drone for the next time. Austrian Eagles are free and not controlled by the government like the Belgian ones. But as they are free, they decide weather you are allowed to fly or not. And they give a damm about the permissions form Austro Controll.
