When I was still farming, my father and I would go to farm auctions whenever there was one close enough or had something we were interested in. For us, it was a fun day away from the everyday grind of farm work. And it was some of the best times I had with my dad.

A touch off paint would make it look a million dollars! especially when explaining to the wife how much you spent.

Great video. We always went to the auction on the last Monday before school started as a family. It was different than a farm sale but same concept. It was an outing for the whole family. We seen a lot if people that were neighbors & friends & us kids had a great time. Also great learning experience for us as kids. Such fond memories of days gone by.

one thing i enjoyed is taking a few welding lessons 40 years ago and i now repair and make new my own equipment, the technology for welding equipment and machines has improved since i first took lessons, the machines are smaller and lighter, the one i first used was an OXFORD, MADE IN ENGLAND, 180 AMP ARC WELDER 3 PHASE 380 to 440 VOLTS... then i had the old diesel generator trailer as well to tow around, now ive got a small welder and small generator... both fit on the quad bike

  • @petetheresellerandscrapper849

Don't worry about what you paid for it rich all that matters is your happy as you said it will last you for the next 15-20 and compared to a new one it's cheap thanks for taking us along with you to the sale I'm missing them

Grab some wood or concrete blocks to put under each courner when you park the new 1 , will stop the frame rotting where its touching the soil over winter

I remember the farm sale on our farm when I was 7. Sad day. It wasn't our farm but we lived on one of the 4 homes located within the centre of the farm itself, Grandad worked on the farm. He passed, the owner of the farm sold up, we had to get up and leave too. Sad, but it was interesting seeing the sale of all the equipment you'd been surrounded by for your life (short one I admit)

I love a farm sale.trouble is so many are online sales since covid these days which obviously don"t have the atmosphere that the live sales do. my dad always yous to say if theres a lot of people at the sale nothing will go cheap.i think he was right there most of the time. its a shame you had to go home early i would have liked to see what all those tractors sold for

good buy richard. up north of the border we call these farm dispenishment sales a "roup" selling off all the kit. Interesting comment you made towards the end about 2nd hand kit. If you total up in £££ the amount of kit that sits about on farms but is only used a few days a year, and spends the rest of the time going rusty...i shudder to think what it is all worth.....but keeps the accountants busy calculating depreciation and the machinery dealers trying to flog you new shinny (and very expensive with fancy brand names) kit...2nd, 3rd or 20th hand kit is often a better deal with a bit of tlc.

Also, the sad state of things today, even if you buy a brand new one, will it out last that one?
or more likely, will it end up packing up quicker because the steel, welds, etc are all weaker because the push to increase profits over quality is greater these days!

Would have thought price was ok personally. Put yours on eBay and may get £300 plus so only cost you £220 ish. Not worth messing about. Don’t understand why the smart arse comments about could buy a new set for that etc. If you could they wouldn’t be worth buying. Sale prices looked reasonable though not much to draw in the punters!

  • @CJSlayerrr
