- The money tree plant is losing leaves most likely due to an adequate amounts of lighting. This house plant enjoys more light than what a lot of people think it does. It is sometimes labeled as a low light house plant but it’s actually a medium lighting plant. The money tree enjoys 5 to 7 hours of indirect lighting and also can handle one or two hours of direct lighting. Your plan is most likely not getting enough light if the leaves are falling off of it.
Another reason your money tree could be losing leaves is due to watering issues. This house plan prefers to only have 3 to 4 waterings per month. It also prefers spread out amounts of time in between waterings. This means that you should completely let it dry out before watering it. Make sure that you’re not watering it multiple times a week but instead watering it very thoroughly once a week.
It is also very common to not adequately water the root system inside the pot. Sometimes when you water with a watering can all of the water goes to the outside of the pot and doesn’t allow for the root system to absorb water. You should use the method of bottom watering where you put the entire pot inside of a dish of water to completely submerge it. This allows for the plant to completely be absorbed in water and the route systems absorb the water they want to.
These two variables of giving the plant more lighting and making sure you adequately water the plant should help reduce the amount of leaves that the plant dies off.
The Moneytree starts to lose leaves when the plant itself is unhappy and it has to shut off those leaves to absorb the energy that was in those sleeves. The money tree uses the energy from those dying leaves to stay alive. If your money tree is losing leaves chances are it’s on its way to dying and started the process of dying.

Can you do a video on propagating money trees? I’ve taken several stem cuttings and they do well for a few weeks or months but then suddenly develop yellow or brown leaves and die. Would like to know what I’m doing wrong . Thanks.

My leaves are getting brown and falling off. It's been doing this for weeks, and is accelerating. I re-potted it a few days ago, and it seems to have helped a bit, but leaves are still changing. It's hard to tell if it now needs more water, or maybe these leaves were already on their way out before getting new soil.
I think it’s fairly common to have to repot these
