- Welcome to Fun with Plants and Cats!
Today's episode is a good one! I was recently gifted a large 10 foot indoor money tree, also known as the Pachira Aquatica. The Money Tree is also called the “Good Luck Tree” and is an age-old token of good luck and an invitation to good fortune.
In this episode, I will talk about how I got this tree, how I moved this tree into my house, and this tree's health history.
This is my first money tree too, so let me know in the comments if you have any money tree care tips.

THIS PLANT HAS GROWN TO 13 FEET! WATCH ME REPOT IT! czcams.com/video/znbW_CBimoc/video.html
cool update! these things' growth rates are crazy
Your neighbors must have been so sad to leave their tree behind. It’s probably like a child to them that they grew for 10 years. How fortunate that they had a plant loving neighbor like you who would treasure this plant!
They were pretty upset! I've only had this tree a few months and I'm already so attached to it. I'm lucky they chose me :)
❤️
my wife gave me a small money tree when we were dating 7 years ago.
it's now 2024 and it's 6ft tall, same as my height. lol
I love money trees, i got 2 of them last April 16 as birthday gift for myself yesterday😊. Ikea always sell nice Money trees around 3 or 4 feet tall.
What a high ceiling you have ! You are lucky to have the money tree and the money tree is lucky to have you.
Omg I love how big they can get I have one that is about 2 feet tall and growing!
Oh wow! You are lucky if it was given to you. Money tree is good luck specially it's a gift. Thanks for sharing!
WOW what a GORGEOUS tree!! They're SO fortunate that they left it to you!!🥰 I've been dying to get one, you've inspired me to thank you!!❤️🥰🙏🏼🙏🏼
That’s a beautiful money tree and I hope mine grows half that size.
I have a money tree but still small! I am happy for you Madam that you are a plant lover. Money tree is a nice tree to have! GOD BLESS U MADAM!
That seems like a small pot for such a tall tree.
Perhaps getting a bigger pot will allow the roots to get bigger and be better for the tree all the way around .
I heard the sap dripping from the leaves of the tree is also known as happy sap .
Nice tree.
Thank you for sharing. That is an amazing gift. Bless your old neighbors!! Hope you enjoy. Peace and prosperity be upon you, my dear. God bless.
Thank you!
Good luck! It’s gorgeous!!!
THATS A LUCKY PLANTS FOR YOU!
Liked it at at 0:27 loved it immediately!!
This is amazing!
Wow!!! I literally typed in the biggest money tree ever. I love money tree's and doing lectures to teach the masses. Peace
Hello did you say that you teach about the tree 🌳 if so I'm in Ohio I had some in Florida and I was just wondering how I should water it I know that they like low light attest in FL and mine where tall about six feet?
This was a lot of fun. What a neat story, and I’m so excited to see how big my money tree could get. Wow do I envy your natural light! My money tree is unfortunately in a north-facing window and will never be like yours. It really does grow very well, though, despite the unfortunate light.
It had never occurred to me that the braiding was partially for support. Very interesting. That makes sense. I’ve been braiding mine as it gets taller, so I’ll keep doing that.
Thank you for watching, J! Money trees are so versatile, and do well in north facing windows. There's one in my doctors office (not nearly close to any windows) that's doing pretty well too. I think the braided look on a money tree is beautiful, and that's awesome that you're continuing the braid. Have a great day!
Nice tree- Nice
Wowww 💚
Wow very nice sharing videos. I like it . #1 ❤ Tamsak done
Can't wait for mines to get bigger
You could use a collapsible tent pole to support it.
thanks for sharing how to care of your money tree
💯 money tree goals. Thanks for the vid!
I'm almost sure that the spotting is caused by sunlight - especially on older leaves. It really likes light, but it gets scorched/burnt easily by direct sun rays.
Also, sap may be gutation from overwatering.
Hope sth of this helps.
It's very pretty plant you have and great neighbours, too.
Thank you for the tips! I'm thinking the holes could be burns from the sun as well. Lately I've given it more shaded light which has been working out well so far.
Yes I had a rescue that I accidently sunburned. Lesson learned. It's healing and growing also.
Yes, I have a 4‘ money tree. And when I put the blinds with the sun facing down on my money, treat this happens, yellow spots, and sometimes little holes.
I recently saw a very tall money tree in a video from CZcamsr Pineapple Decor. Thought is was such a beautiful plant but yours is WOW. I have a money tree too, I learned something new about them and good luck and thanks.
Thank you for your comment! I'll check out that video.
Check Scandinavian loft lots of plants.
A beautiful specimen! As you pointed out, some ties are digging into the stems but if they are allowed to stay like that, they will ‘girdle’ them which stops the flow of water and nutrients to your plant which would be a tragedy for this beautiful tree. The leaves often drop from the tree during low light levels in the winter but will grow again in spring
Thank you for the tips!
I have one that's 9 ft. 7 petals. Lots of natural light like yourself Sweet sap I didn't even know I had! I'm so blessed with it. I learned some things from your video... didn't know about the sap! But there it was when I looked for it Thanks!
That's awesome! Nice to meet another person with a large money tree! Glad my video could help :)
@Fun with Plants and Cats wish I could show you!
Hare Krishna. Wow so beautiful planting. Good share. Connect stay 🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Mine was gifted as a tiny money tree 4 years ago. It's now about 3 feet tall
I just have a baby money tree which I bought from Lidl. Hope to raise it as high as could… just a challenge. Did you say the leaves fell and came back… wow… like an Olive Tree (newbie) . Thanks for sharing your 10 foot tree.
It’s also known as the Malabar chestnut which has an edible nut
I really enjoyed this video AND this is a really big money tree AND it uses really tall supports AND don’t mind the cat.
Haha thank you for the comment!
I bought my money tree about a year and a half ago and it was about six inches with a teeeny little pot. I’ve replanted twice into larger pots (I know, I know, they like little containers 🤷♀️ but I was so surprised at how fast they grow). It’s about three feet tall now. I have a question for anybody who’s experienced with theses plants…some of the leaves are bright green with dark veins, others just a deep green. I’ve tried to see if this is happening as the leaves grow and is normal or if I’m over-watering it, under-watering it, giving it too much light or too little light? Does it need fertilizer? I can’t tell because the leaves change so many times. Dark when they first come out, then that bright green, then seem to get those veins but others not so much, then they just turn different shades of green. It’s weird but I think it’s pretty, if it’s not dying that is. It does look bushy, healthy, and and is putting on a lot of leaves and none seem to be dying or falling off. I can’t find anything that talks about these dark green veins. Does anybody know if it’s normal or what I can do about it if it isn’t?
Wow sooo beautiful. I have one but it’s droopy any tip? In Canada and we got cold winter and tons of heat. What is the best soil? Fertilizer? When the best time to do so?
I would replace the string that's grown into the trunk
🥰🥰👍👍
Hi can we use any soil for indoor money plant
Which direction shd u put the money tree? Direction to get sunlight for growth please.
I have money tree that about 7 feet now.
May i ask what does it mean if their leaves are mostly 7 leaves ?
That tree is absolutely beautiful! I would like to know what do you fertilize it please?
Thank you! Just a basic all purpose 10-10-10 houseplant fertilizer :)
Huge tree!! wnder how tall they would get if they were braided for support. 30ft?
definitely could!
Noooo. Chinese money trees at the nurseries have 5 trunks braided together. 5 is good luck. So two of their‘s must have died from root rot and that’s why there’s only three. These trees can get root rot very easily.
Interesting, I have seen some with three, and four, and five before. I think it could depend on the grower.
@@funwithplantsandcats good point. I’ve only seen 5. But you’re right, could depend on the grower.
You stated you would eventually have to prune the tree, why would you need to do that? I saw another video saying that the tree being braided could cause it to have issues later.
Yep! I want to prune it back because if it's too tall, it's going to be hard for me to clean the leaves and do pest inspections. For now, it's a manageable size for me with a step stool. I also saw a Planterina video where she suggested against braiding the trunk.
I replanted mine in raised bed soil. Thinking it will have better drainage. Leaves are turning yellow and falling. Is it the soil or too much water. Please help
Hi there, it's hard to say, but it does sound like an overwatering issue. My suggestion is to get a moisture meter, only water when the soil on the top few inches reads dry. Good luck!
Anyone know how to make a money tree grow taller?
Mine is putting out branches with leaves but theres not a lot of trunk space (height) between them as they keep coming in. My tree is becoming very bushy and the branches from the other trunks are all running into each other. And tips would be helpful.
Then you have a happy healthy plant. The bushier the better. A money tree gets leggy from insufficient light. Give it time it will get tall. Her plant is ten yrs old. Another point is that if a plant is getting adequate light and is growing properly it would wouldn't need stakes to keep it up right. This plant got too leggy to where it can't support itself.
👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I would check for scale.
What's the address for the Money Tree forum?
What a great find! I worried when I heard the word "unit" more than once... Wasn't sure where you are on the planet to call a house/home/condo a "unit", but I'm sure it has an explanation. Regardless, I hope you'll have this monster for many years. By the way, those stakes/sticks were placed into the pot when the plant was repotted, else, driving those sticks into the soil would have torn the roots, creating root rot and the death of the plant. The duct tape solution always works. LOL.
Lol! Thanks for the insights Ron :) Now that you mention it, yeah, unit is a weird thing to say.
Mine is 24 years higher than our house
Mine is already 24 years
You have a serious green thumb
spray it with Neem Oil.
How’s the plant now? 💚
Good question! Since I repotted this tree in July, there have been changes! Stay tuned, i am going to make a video on the current health status of this plant :)
Lovely Plant
Release the ties the stems will thicken
Omg what you feeding it?
Hi there, just a regular 1 - 1 - 1 fertilizer. I feed it about 1/4 - 1/2 of the recommended dosage once every 2 weeks. I feed in mostly during the growing season (March - Septemberish) and it makes a lot of growth.
@@funwithplantsandcats it's beautiful 😍
Mine is in blossom
Either not enough light or to much water makes them do that I seen on u tube
You were supposed to braid the trunk.. Wouldn't need the stilts if you did it right.
Leaving money tree in a braid will eventually kill it, well you probably won’t be able to grow it to this size and as healthy in a braid shape, because as the stems get thicker at the bottom the braid gets tighter and the stems start cutting into each other and are unable to get thicker, to supply enough moisture and nutrients for the leaves at the top…
Use pantyhose to tie up the tree. It is tight yet has give.
Can you take one away from the other two
I found my tree from IKEA.
Nice! Ikea has some nice plants
I’d like to share my 6 year old money tree. Most of all I would like to share its flowers. Flowers only last 48 hours and they are absolutely beautiful. Has yours given you flowers?
Sorry, I couldn’t attach a picture of the flowers.
