    Hi Pete, great video mate as always, I’m glad you said there wasn’t much difference between the I and the O because I couldn’t see any really, both very capable setups though! There must be a reason for Sata to make the different caps though, the wings both looked great out in the sun light. Once again though Pete thanks for including us car guys. Cheers mate! Steve.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Před 2 lety +1

      Cheers Steve, I've been meaning to do this for ages because when I've used them on there own you can't see or feel that much difference but i thought there was more than there actually was, it's really quite minimal, I think most of it's just marketing to attract Iwata and other users as the Sata 5000 has a bit of a reputation for being a bit fierce although it isn't really.
      I'm quite enjoying doing the wings, they are quick and easy to prepare for paint compared to some of the bike stuff which can be fiddly, I originally only bought one left and a different right side wing but one was bent and squashed so they said keep it and sent me another, I repaired it so have 2 the same which is ideal for this sort of thing, cheers mate, hope alls well 👍

      O pattern has a shorter, wider wet core (larger dry zone) and higher film build. Typically used for clears and lays down fast, good for production painting. I nozzle is quite the opposite and is more controlled, good for base. I use it for sealer as well. I use a few 1.3 HVLP I-pattern for base & 1.2 RP O for clear. In a controlled environment and trained eye you will see the difference in proper lighting. The RP is a good all rounder.

    Hi Pete
    I spent months trying to decide which one to purchase,like you have alluded too.
    Went for the 1.2i.But,as you now say ,it doesn’t really matter which you choose. More of a marketing ploy to appease everyone than actually offering variations.

      Hi Andy, It's more down to the painters preference than one being for base and one for clear, although many will prefer an I pattern for base and the O for clear coat.
      It really is dependent on how they like to do things, the materials they use , the conditions and the finish they want 👍

  • @JohnWD40TC02
    @JohnWD40TC02 Před 2 lety +2

    Hey Pete, well that was an eye opener as I was expecting to see a big difference when you did the spray out on the paper, as you know I already have the1.2 I so was expecting a rounder umm, well "O" shaped fan but it looks similar to the "I" which really surprised me as when I was looking at the Sata X5500 I didn't know which one to get but a few people said if you are a Devilbiss user then go for the "I" which I did and don't regret it one bit as it's a fantastic gun BUT.. I still like the design of the DV1 better as for the clearcoat finish though you can't really split them apart from IMO the Sata is easier to get that wet glassy finish.
    I was reading though some of the posts here Pete and you hit the nail right on the head when you said "I'm finding the clear coat can be more of a leveller than the gun" and that is it as these days all of the guns from the top well known brands are IMO able to give the same level of finish it's the clearcoats that have more influence on how nice the finish looks.
    Thanks for doing this comparison mate it was very interesting 🙏👍 ok after that long comment I'll bugger off 😁🙄😂

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi John, yes, I was expecting a bigger difference to be honest, I've used both setups on there own and, although I've said before, it's not a huge difference in these two it really was hardly anything.
      I really enjoy doing the side by side comparisons as it really is the best way to try things out, where everything is the same bar the gun or whatever because you get ideas in your head and they are levelled when everything is the same.
      As to the clears, with the more modern one's they are definitely thinner wile retaining a high solid content and, as you know, they flow better than some of the cheap older types, this lends itself really well to the finer atomisation guns that don't necessarily put loads out, were living and learning as they say mate 👍

    • @JohnWD40TC02
      @JohnWD40TC02 Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Pete, I really like your side by side comparison videos mate as they are done with the same conditions with temp and humidity. I do wonder if the "I" and "O" caps really need to exist as there is so little difference maybe one is all you need but there may be more of a difference if you are in a booth painting cars all day every day, thanks again for doing these vids mate as I find them very useful 🙏👍

      @peteshobbies5383  Před 2 lety +2

      I think your right, they are just catering for the Iwata/Devilbiss owners that like the idea of the Sata but have heard the 5000 is a bit of a handful, like me and you really, i did exactly the same as you, went "I" as it would be similar to what we know and it's marketed as such when in reality a 5000 isn't that much of a handful anyway, cheers mate 👍

    Great video once again Pete , I’ve never been interested in buying a Sata mostly because first I’m an Iwata fan boy and secondly their costs, but in saying that I am thinking of buying an NTools branded 5000B RP 1.3 , which of course is just a Chinese knock off but for the $200 it’s advertised at I’m very curious to how well the NTools gun sprays. I do feel it’s unfair to buy something that’s just a stolen design , but in my case is simply a monetary based decision and I have a feeling it’s going to give a very similar result but I’ll have to wait and see , have you ever tried the knock brand version of these Sata’s ?
