DIY guy. I had my sata 5000b for years, and it's a never fail gun. I bought the Walcom carbonio, and there mini gun as you really liked them. There all great guns.
Yea they are all great guns. 👍
Nice explanation of air consumption , because I have an Iwata LS 400 I bought an 8 hp petrol compressor(16,4 CFM) but the tanks small at only 120 litres so I'm adding another tank to it , plus air cooler/dryer, and yes im just a hobbyist spray painter working in my garage at home but nice to see the Sata Vs the Walcom comparison
Thanks, I figured a little of viewers were DIY guys, so I'm trying to explain things in my videos for a DIY audience.
That sound like it'll be a nice home set up. Thanks 👍
I run walcom hte for all four of my guns and they are fantastic. I do alot of custom cerakote and use the mini ego190 0.7mm HTE for that everday and have been using it and the other 3 for 1.5yrs and they work as good as day 1
With the walcom gun, what was the fluid and the fan setup.
Full fan, full fluid, 29psi 1.2 fluid tip.
I have found with the geo if you don't open the fluid fully, it feels really slow.
Lovely video bud and as always lovely workmanship. Might be worth adding the Sata5500 is Sata’s latest version and the Walcom Geo looks to be one of there older models that has now been upgraded to the Walcom Geo Light and again to it’s latest version the Walcom Geo EVO. Might even be worth you trying one see it you can see the difference in lay down
Or even look at the Walcom 360 EVO HTE the dedicated Clear gun with MP setup for Flat finish and Std setup for OEM finishes
Thanks, It is the older geo. I was borrowing a friend's Sata for this video as I only have Walcoms. But I used a Sata X5500 for a while at another place as they wanted us to use them and really liked it.
The 5500 is a lovely gun. Let’s face it pal all the top manufacturers make fantastic equipment
@the_specky_painter1642 Absolutely, that was the point in the video. Both great guns. I'm sure with enough time with the gun, I could get a £25 Sealey gun to get a nice finish.
Fellow profesional spray painter here we do between 25 and 30 jobs per week so i would not call us big just middle of the range , use the devilbiss dv1's at work and we use the cromax paint system similar if not the same as standox , been looking at getting a sata lately since we signed a contract with a company to respray their sprinter vans in company colors , the dv1 is good but the sata has a bigger fan and is just a bit faster , also find the black on the dv1's a Prick to clean 😅
Hey Kevin, apologies for the in replying.
Yea the cromax will be the same as they are both under the Axelta umbrella.
I really like the Sata's personally. I know exactly what you mean about cleaning the dv1's 🤣
@@paulphillipspaintwork i think the dv1 is the best for basecoat , forclear coat /2k it is good but not amazing
@@kevinhekers2380 I hear people saying they are the best for base coat
Just subscribed pau to your channel i had 2 sata years ago 4000 rp wish I kept them now paul just got some kapci clear coat some body said great clear coat thanks for sharing that
Thanks for subscribing, I had few guns and I when I got my walcoms I ended up selling them as I didn't use them. I wish I didn't either.... so I might have to buy more lol. I think Sata next.
Looking forward to this Paul as I have the Sata X5500 RP 1.2 and 1.3 I. I don't have the Walcom but have heard they are very good, 5PM is a difficult time for me but I'll do my best to be there👍
I didn't even realise this was visible yet lol. My CZcams stats were saying I have a lot of viewers on at that time so I figured that would be best time to post it. 5pm is a little odd to me as well.
Haha!! not to worry mate it will give people a chance to find it. It does seem a strange time for people to be watching maybe they are all watching on their commute home which is ok on a train or bus but a bit dodgy if you are driving😱😬😂
What issues are there sorting with really high pressure. Sure sprays nice that SATA but have not seen the Walcom
The Sata is a lovely spray gun. Most spray guns have some kind of regulator to control the pressure, or one can be added onto the compressor system.
Hi Brother!
I'm about to Buy a walcom halo génesis carbonio spray gun, which compressor i have to Buy??
That's a good question, get one a big as possible but the key thing is you need 14cfm
Dziękujemy pozdrawiam.
Dziękuję, doceniam to
Hi Paul really good comparison mate and both of those guns did a great job, from what I can tell there doesn't seem to be much difference finish wise between the 2 guns so it probably comes down to personal preference.
When you was using the Sata it looked like you were holding the gun a fair way back from the panel it might have been the camera but I was amazed how you got such a good finish like that as I have to be close to the panel to get a flat finish from my Sata.
Anyway, really interesting video Paul so thanks for doing it👍
Thanks John, great feedback. 👍 the geo is a bit slow for me, so moving it closer will allow me to get the clear on the panel much quicker where as the Sata allows me to relax and take my time. It feels effortless.
Now that's strange Paul as I find the Sata X5500 a bit slow in the 1.2I, I got a 1.3I tip set for it and it was a bit faster but I thought it didn't atomise quite so finely as the 1.2 but that could be in my mind🤔
Do you have an Iwata W400 Bellaria 1.3 mate? now that I think is the fastest gun in my collection it smashes it on and for the price gives a cracking finish, would be interesting to hear your thoughts if you have one Paul as I'm always keen to learn new things in this trade👍
@JohnWD40TC02 no I don't have the iwata. The geo I'm is quite slow it's fully open and still slower than I'd like but the atomization is beautiful.
The 1.3 will won't atomize as fine because more material is coming through you'll end up with a more orange peely finish.
I might start reaching out to gun companies to see if I can get some guns on loan to test/review.
OK thanks Paul, I might try the Sata at 2.2bar as you have here I'm normally around 1.9-2.0bar.
I'm sure a lot of the big names in spray guns will give you a demo gun to try, I know Iwata have the WS Series2 demo gun and there is the DV1 Tony had a DV1 demo quite some time back👍
@JohnWD40TC02 yea the increase is pressure with help the atomization but create more overspray.
Yea I should give Tony a shout it's been a while since I spoke to him.
What Walcom are you using?
Hi, it's the walcom geo 1.2
Good job amigo
I work in a big shop. I use a sata 5500 I pattern for base and I don't prefer them for clear as my booth sucks and anything over 25 psi fills it up pretty quickly. I also get a lot of flat cars and I can't seem to tame the German beast for clear. I use an iwata LPH400 for clear at 20psi. I'm definitely interested in the walcoms. Your thoughts and demonstration on pattern size would be interesting. Some people boast a large pattern but I see it splitting and obviously that's not very good. Speaking of...a year and a half in my sata pattern is splitting at full fan seems odd.
Great feedback. I can definitely figure out sizes of fan patterns for the walcoms.
Sometimes, when the fan pattern splits, it's because the pressure is too high, causing excess velocity at the air cap.
How do you like your LPH?
@@Dopestt gives original finishes, not so much glass flat.
@kr2513 Which cap do you have? Have you tried it at higher pressure?
@@MarcBchannel orange cap. I’ve went 32 psi.
Hi Paul I've listened to & watched all the hype on the new satacc, I've been praying for Devilbiss to bring out some new air caps but it's not happening, so I just thought with all the good reviews I'll try the SATA x5500 cc, opened the box, beautiful gun but it just doesn't fit my hand like a Devilbiss, in fact it's just not right it's horrible to hold, now I've just noticed you hold the gun with fore finger over the gun & little finger below the finger rest so I'm going to try that or sell the gun or Dremel the finger rest.
Did you discover that style by using SATA guns or is that your style anyway
Regards
Graham
Hi Graham, I just had to watch that back. I was only holding the gun like that whilst showing the camera, when spraying I had 2 fingers on the trigger and the other 2 on the grip. Its a shame you dont get on with the Sata, I really like the cc. I guess it's just user preference. I hear really good things about the new iwatas they are comfortable in the hand too. Also the fuji spray guns are nice I have 2 of those.
@@paulphillipspaintwork Hi Paul
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, really appreciate your help, I'm always looking at any changes that could improve the quality of my work as I am my biggest critic & if I'm not happy I can't expect the customer to be happy, love the show & keep it coming, thanks again.

@grahambooth-mr3eq no worries Graham, I completely agree. I'm always really critical of my own work and looking for ways to improve. 👍
thanks for the review and explanation about air consuption. i have the same Sata. but how do i tell weither it is the i or O pattern?
Thanks, it'll say on the front of the air cap. I.e Jet X 5500 rp 1.2 I or 1.2 0
@@paulphillipspaintwork thanks. i got one second hand. so it looks like it has i pattern. thank you
@dollaarz no problem, thanks 👍
Nice job paul both.nice guns but I'm comming to the end of my time working wise so would be a a bit daft if I splashed out on new guns so my GTI pro ×5 will see me through good vid bro
Thanks Dean, I honestly think most spray guns are decent enough these days. I'm not trying to encourage people to spend money on new guns. But I am enjoying how easy it is to achieve a quality finish without having to put much effort in lol.
@@paulphillipspaintwork 🤣🤣🤣 10 years back I would have jumped on them guns as they both produce a lovely finish but 10years back they weren't around a guy in my shop has the DV1 clear in a 1.3 and I must admit tech has moved on I have to work at it with my guns but his seems effortless it's got the c2 cap on
@deanbrown7643 I have only used the dv1 a handful of times. I still have the original gti. Maybe I should compare the 2 lol.
@@paulphillipspaintwork go for it mate show people how tech has improved over the yrs 😉😉😉
@deanbrown7643 I'll have to try and get hold of a dv1 lol. Plus the clear coat gun back then is a 1.4 but I agree it'll be an interesting video
Iwata ws400 series 2 vs walcom carbonio MP vs sagola 4600 extreme 😊
That would make an awesome video 🤘
Thanks for sharing. im a diy guy looking for an all round gun for at home. any suggestions? thanks
Thanks, the best all round gun would be dictated by what cfm your compressor is. This is how much air it can deliver to the gun. (Some guns need 14cfm but if your compressor is only 10cfm it won't spray properly) if you let me know I'll have a look what would be best.
Also I'll produce a video on the matter to help explain things like this for DIY gun and beginners. Thanks 👍
@@paulphillipspaintwork Thank you. my compressor has a 58 litre tank and produces 15cfm
@kanenaysmith9287 sweet lol the Sata 1500solv 1.3rp is a great around gun and a budget option would be the astro europro evo 1.3
@@paulphillipspaintwork thank you
@kanenaysmith9287 no problem 👍
How is the walcom geo compared to the hte base for metallic basecoats?
I'm not too sure you know? I have used it for base, but it's a little slow for me as its a 1.2 so I started using it for clear and liked it.
I might do a video on it and find out lol.
@@paulphillipspaintwork that would be fantastic!
@@jeremyoetken2094 I'll sort that out then 👍
@@paulphillipspaintwork great!

🙏🙏🙏
Old sata still better than new walcom😂
Why?
Yes, why do you say that, you already have both?
I'm a Sata fan, I really liked the 3000rp
