100 Thanks for this video. I've never heard of this opening but it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for being so thorough and going over so many possible responses. This makes for a lot better understanding on my part. I think, after watching this a few more times, I'll be ready to actually try it on an opponent.
Thanks for the comment. There are so many fun chess openings out there. I definitely try my best to go over the main themes and lines to get people comfortable with some new ones to try out. Let me know how it goes against an opponent.
@@chesswebsite Thank you, I will.
The best thing about your channel is that you go deeper into the most possible lines and their outcomes. I've seen a lot of rivals fall into the lines you analize, and thanks to you, I go well prepared. Thanks for the great work!
Appreciate that. Glad you enjoy the style.
Legend has it that the "pterodactyl" opening was a ruse to diguise the power of the sicilian by making a weaker move just before leaving the chess board in an interrupted game.
Sounds logical to me.
10000!! Thankyou so much! We appreciate your efforts for making this content!
100. Brilliant video. I have been playing Najdorf variation for four years in the sicilian and I thought this would be my response to e4 forever but this video actually is making me reconsider my opinion. I might actually go for this line in my games. But of course more research is needed to the deeper positions in this opening before i decide to switch. Thank you so much for this video. Very informative and easy to understand. Been watching thechesswebsite vids since 2017. Imo this is your best video so far. Keep up the good work!!
Oh wow. Love the feedback and the bold statement of it being the best in the past 5 years. That's awesome.
@@chesswebsite Im actually playing this line now in my games. And Im loving it. Thank you so much. And yeah it is a bold statement but I think your videos keep improving, I can see a big step up from your vids from years ago. Good luck for your future work. I will tune in to watch all your videos as I always have :)
I knew this variation from a modern defence, but I dont enjoy playing the modern, so I never studied it. And now boom! I learned that it may arise from a sicilian! I have been playing the hyperaccelerated dragon lately, so this variation is extremely interesting to me! great video!
I also knew the Pterodactyl Modern (1. e4 g6 2. d4 Bg7 3. Nc3 c5).
I don’t actually know what’s the big difference between the two openings except the move order. White just chooses to develop the other knight
Nice. I also enjoy playing the hyper accelerated dragon. Glad you enjoyed it.

100. I’ve always like playing black because it allows me to. aggressive, but I’m starting to appreciate playing black and having a great understanding of playing defense. I like how on this video and other, you go into detail on different moves and why this is the best way to play it. Thank you.
100 cheers, another great video
Thanks, Jeff. 👍
This is a great video! Just one question. What if they push the pawn to c3 on the fourth move?
Great video 👍. Enjoy your day!
Thanks! You too!
Am I the only one who play chess trying to get the weirdest sounding opening/defense
Like how this uncommon Sicilian asks pointed questions of White really early!! 👍🏽
Exactly. Not your typical buildup. Black comes out swinging early.
I liked this video of (The Pterodactyl) could you do one on How to beat the King's Gambit. Thank you.
Nice Thanks
Je te remirci ❤❤❤❤
Muchas gracias señor
Love the various languages my friend.
Nice video
Nice one, Kevin
Thanks King David.
i love to play it good memory
100 great video
Can you please do a video on ruy Lopez after e4,e5,Nf3,Nc6,Bb5,d6
Absolutely. I'll add Steinitz Defence: 3...d6 to my list of videos to make. Thanks for the suggestion.
Excellent! 100
100. Use this black defense and love it. Maybe more clarification between hyper and pterodactyl transposition. Great video: if I play it well it’s a quick win. Or I get twisted around I usually lose.
Thanks!!!
You are very welcome.
100....love this video, thanks
Thanks Alexander.
💯 I'd love to see a video of black playing against the Maróczy Bind! Thank you!
I personally like the Hedgehog Variation, because it is very transpositional. There are many videos about it, such as this: czcams.com/video/z1IfAUOLp1Q/video.html
Another weapon against MB is early g6 and Nc6, with some dynamic continuations like cxd4 Nxd4 Nxd4, but i am not very familiar with those lines.
I'll add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
Can I always use this type of openings everytime or is it only when your opponent moves in a specific way then you can use this opening
It really is for the Sicilian Opening, but it's the main line for white so you shouldn't run into too many variations at the beginning.
Fascinating! More please on other possible replies, like say an early c3 to protect d4. 100
100. Kevin, a quick question about the Qa5+. You go through several blocks for white but don't cover if they go Bd2. What would you recommend as a response for that block? Thanks.
Which variation are you referring to? Black plays Qa5+ in a few spots so I want to make sure I answer appropriately.
@@chesswebsite I am asking about the position at 13:00 in the video after the move Qa5+. What if Bd2 is played?
💯 thanks guy... 🎗♟🎭
@@markj4202 Bd2 would lose to Qc5 which both attacks the knight and the bishop. White would end up taking one of the minor pieces.
100. Thanks indeed.
Glad you liked it, Felix.
100, great video
Thanks, Ruben. 👍

Unintentional click baity title
exactly what i had in my mind
@@benedekpaszthy-szabo9597 how is it baity? He showed the variation he named in title
I thought he was gonna talk about dinosaurs
I honestly try my best not to be click baity both in thumbnails and in title. In many ways it probably hurts my channel by not playing the game, but I try to just show the position I'll be going over and have the title. Open to feedback on how I can be better because I really wasn't trying to be click baity.
