  • The King's Gambit Modern Defense starts with the moves: 1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Nf3 d5 4. exd5. This is a very safe opening for black and takes away the most aggressive lines that white likes to play in the King's Gambit.

    Hi Kevin, I was just wondering about 7:14 to 7:16 being an illegal move because the white queen seems to be eyeing b8 when the black king and rook were castling.
    To quote one of the conditions for castling, "The king does not pass through a square that is attacked by an enemy piece."

    • @chesswebsite
      @chesswebsite  Před 2 lety +5

      The king never passes through the b8 square so it's legal. You are correct in the condition for castling. The same rule about passing through a square attacked by an enemy piece does not apply to the rook.

      @@chesswebsite hey Kevin, do you know any openings similar to the KG but more sound? My rating is 2000 by only playing the KG and the Latvian, but recently I’ve been hitting a plateau. Can you recommend me some openings that have a similar playstyle as the KG but more sound? Thanks

    Bro, how did you spend that time going over why giving up your knight for nothing is a bad move @4:20

    • @chesswebsite
      @chesswebsite  Před 2 lety

      not sure it was given up for nothing. the knights were traded off. I just just analyzing the position if the knights did trade off.

    08:25 what about white going for pawn d3?

    • @chesswebsite
      @chesswebsite  Před 2 lety +1

      d3 seems fine-ish for white. I would take the bishop with the knight, exchange off queens, and then bring my bishop to e6.
