Today we will be making Pat's Flaky Dessert, this dessert is made with only a few ingredients and it's so delicious. See recipe below!

Ingredients:
Dessert:
2 sleeves of soda crackers
2 packs vanilla instant pudding
3 cups milk or follow package instructions
1 - 250ml whipping cream
1- 2 tbsp icing sugar
Dessert Sauce:
2 cups mixed berries or fruit, fresh or frozen
½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp corn starch
1 cup water
Method:
1 - In a large bowl add instant pudding and milk, mix until thickened, then place in fridge until ready to use.
2 - In another large bowl blend whipping cream, then add icing sugar mix together, then place in fridge until ready to use.
3 - In a saucepan on the stove top on a medium heat, add mixed fruit, brown sugar, water mixed with corn starch, add to saucepan. Let it come to a boil then remove from heat, then had vanilla.
4 - In a square or rectangle pan of choice, start layering the ingredients.
5 - Layer of crackers, then a layer of vanilla pudding, then a layer of whipped cream.
Repeat the layers again until complete. After put dessert back into the fridge to set and after a couple of hours or as long as you like remove from fridge and cut out single servings then top with mixed fruit sauce hot or cold.

Sprinkle with powdered icing sugar after made.

I have a recipe similar to yours only I use graham crackers the pudding , whip cream topped with a layer of graham crackers then pour melted chocolate over the top. I believe it is called boston cream ice box cake. delicious!!!

thanks Bonita.....looks great! I have a similar recipe. Mine calls for blueberry pie filling that goes into the dessert as a layer and it's called blueberry buckle. I like your version better and will try it this way, for sure. I love the thought of putting a berry sauce over the dessert.

...alternative to saltine style crackers...lady fingers, or vanilla or chocolate wafers, oreo cookies, vanilla creams, or sweet lemon cream wafers, or Ritz crackers! Another variation, thin brownie or blondie layers!

I think I would add sago to the fruit mixture to thicken it and add it between all the layers finishing top with berry sauce ...sujestion

What confused me was that you said mix the instant pudding as per package instruction, but then there is another 3 cups of milk listed in the recipe. Are the 3 cups of milk used in place if you’re not following the package instructions? Pls. answer soon. Thanks.
Hi Juliet, Thank you for your message and for stopping by, I'm so glad you are interested in Pat's dessert. I did say follow as per instant pudding instructions, you can by adding in the amount of milk pre-package or less. It don't matter with this recipe it will give it more pudding or less. This is a quick and easy dessert and I hope this helps and enjoy to the fullest. :) Bonita
