  • Remove rusty iron particles from pools filled with well water. Best for smaller pools but has been done on some of the larger Intex pools. All you need is socks and a rubber band. Happy swimming.

    Amazing! Thank you!! We are new Intex pool owners (600 gallon) and our well water was fine at first but when we added chlorine tabs in the floater, we started to get rusty-colored gunk. Came to CZcams and this seemed like an awesome, easy fix. I got three wool winter socks for the filter and in 2 hours our rusty gunk was gone and the pool was crystal clear. We are running the filter overnight w/socks just to be sure. We will use a bucket to pull the socks out of the pool, that way the gunk won’t get back into the pool. Can’t believe how quickly this worked! Genius. Thanks for sharing.

    If you fill with your hose put the socks on the hose while you fill to catch iron before it even gets in pool. I used heavy duty thick winter socks with a tube sock on last. This really gets any iron or sediment out as well. Also attach the hose to the ladder so the socks are not in the water. This way no iron will dissolve into pool when you remove socks to clean. I used some rope to attach hose to ladder. A heavy duty rubber band should keep socks on. Zip ties good as well

    Wow!!!!!!! I just want to say thank u!!!!!! We just got r pool, 3rd day in we shocked it and it turned green by morning. Thought it was algea, bought ALL KINDS of cleansing chemicals....nothing worked! Found out it was due to the iron/copper/rust/metals in the water. Ur video popped up first on how to get rid of the coloring, and i thought, hey it's worth a shot....and BAM!!!! Pool was soooooooo much cleaner after running the pump with the socks on the tube over night!!! Totally awesome idea!!!!!!!!! THANK U!!!!!

    This Works! Do it! I rinsed the filter and changed the socks filter often, than one all-night pump filter run did the trick. 2 days cleared a brown 10' x 30" pool.
    There was a slow drip on the outside after I removed the filler hose (even with the cap on the inside of the pool). Luckily I found a large enough cork. Using the hose sprayer was the key to getting the H filter clean. What rinsed out was the color of black coffee. The hoses still have sediment I must clean out, but the pool itself is clear! Thanks so much!

    I'm at my wit's end about the sudden appearance of a green tint in my pool which I refilled with hard water (aquifer). None of the pool supplies shops in my country have anything about metal removers so I'm unable to try those solutions readily. My last resort was to replace all of the water but now I've just put 3 white socks on my filter's outlet secured with hair ties and rubber bands. Your solution makes sense and hopefully it also works for oxidized copper, which for my pool is a green tint rather than the yellowish one you have here.
    Update: Green tint gone! No chemicals needed, just socks! Thank you so much and Happy Easter from the Philippines.

    I have a 15 foot pool, 48 inches deep and the intex pump just isn't doing the job at all. So I cut through the filter and it allows the water to run through more freely and I then put a stocking on the outlet and it catches all the debris. However, in the last couple of days I've noticed the water isn't so clear so I'll be trying this double sock method for sure and hopefully it'll do the trick. Thanks for your advice

    2 more things I did- after the water was clear, the liner floor was very slippery, as was the underwater liner walls. I wiped down the walls and the floor with clean rags and discovered brown residue causing this. I have not yet rei sed/ cleaned out the hoses that are still tinged brown, but have attached the hose to the normal water inlet. I chose two socks with thin cuffs and tucked the edge gently around the edge of the normal water inlet. The water flowed in well through the socks and shortly thereafter was just a slight brown stain beginning. Nothing at all like the initial filtering, but maybe enough to stop another slippery/ slimey liner issue.

    Thank u so much for sharing! I was so frustrated and didnt know how to fix our water. This seems simple and inexpensive enough. One question, when u say u put chlorine in it. Did u put the tablet in the filter or did u just put the chlorine straight in the pool? Thanks!

      A chlorine tablet is slow release as is more for longer term maintenance. I would go with the liquid chlorine initially to see the immediate results. God Bless.

    I wonder if this would work if you did it to the hose while filling the pool. Thereby removing the rust before it even gets into the pool?

      I am trying that now. I’m going to say it’ll help but I doubt it will take it all out it usually doesn’t turn this color until you shock it

    Our water source is deepwell. What's the next step after the removal of stain (Also, should I expect it to change color after applying chlorine?)? Follow up question, how often do you change the water?

    • @thanksforlooking10-4
      @thanksforlooking10-4 Před rokem

      You don't need to change the water, just add when it gets low. Chlorinate slowly otherwise you'll end up with a yellow pool. This just happened to us and thanks to this video, it's almost clear!

    We have high chlorine in our pool currently. Around 10 on the test kit. Would I need to add more chlorine before I do this? Or are my levels high enough??

    • @wormfamily4552
      @wormfamily4552  Před 4 lety

      Can’t really answer about the chlorine levels as I only add chlorine as it “appears” to need it (based on sight). I would say that if you’ve got chlorine in the pool just start the process and see what you get. It can only help.

    Does the water turn green’ish everytime you put chlorine in? Or you filter it out and it’s gonna be clear everytime you put chlorine?

    • @wormfamily4552
      @wormfamily4552  Před 3 lety

      It does not turn green every time chlorine is added. I believe that was just the initial reaction with the iron in the water. Once the iron is filtered out I just do regular pool type maintenance (chlorine, clean filter, etc.) and everything is fine.

    FYI it’s not rust it’s sediment and tannins from your well. If your well runs too long it can start pulling in tannins from debris at bottom of your well

    I have this same exact problem, I saw this video. So now I'm trying this technique to see if it actually works😊 I will repost and let y'all know how it's doing

  • @texasnyghtmare

    Clear it up in 1 day ez. Add Flocculant while running filter for 2hrs. Turn off filter and wait 8-10hrs. You will see it drops all the sediment to the bottom for you to use a pool vac and take it out. Keep it on backwash while you vacuum out the sediment till your done. Let pool sit another few hrs to see if any more sediment needs to be vacuumed out and your gucci. Rinse and repeat if needed and make sure when filling pool to do in increments and to buy cheap water filter for end of the hose 👌

      Make sure you keep some pool chlorine in the pool so algae growth doesn’t become your new problem. If your pool is really large it may take a while and other problems may occur (like algae) before it becomes clear works best on smaller pools or larger pools with better pumps it I’ve done the technique on larger pools with crappy pumps and it has worked, just took longer
