    I have a standard model Wested Raiders jacket in goatskin and it is hands down the best fitting leather jacket I have ever had. Fits like a glove. I considered the hero jacket but based on measurements it seems to differ significantly from standard pattern. Overall I'm very impressed with Wested quality so I'll probably get their LC jacket next.

      Yeah, the goatskin feels like an old friend the first time you put it on. I’ve worn it with a tshirt many times just so I could feel it better, lol. The LC has always caught my eye - mainly because of the color - and I’ve often thought that if I do eventually get one, I’ll go with lamb, but the comfort and durability of goat is hard to beat.
      Great to hear from you!

    I bought a lamb skin wested jacket in 2001 and exchanged emails with Peter Boatwright. It is now 23 years old and still looks great. I had mine done exactly the same as the raiders jacket with the same liner and sleeves. It’s one of my most prized possessions. This was before the current costume craze had taken off and at that time they didn’t have as much on their website it was really basic. You could get an Indy jacket in lamb or cowhide. After some discussion back and forth he described to me how the original was made, what it had and more importantly, what it didn’t have. Like the snaps for the zipper flap were left off the original because they FORGOT to put them on. So in the spirit of authenticity I had them leave it off of mine too. It’s a great jacket and will pass it down to my kids some day.

      Thank you for sharing this! I really enjoyed it. I didn’t know that they simply forgot the snaps, lol.
      Having something like this to pass down is very meaningful and important, I believe.
      Thank you so much!

    Beautifully aging jacket. Wested seems like just the right quality to price for a leather jacket. Considering their Whiskey jacket as an everyday jacket to wear. Not an Indy jacket but it does look great.

      Thank you and yes! Wested is definitely worth the price, given the quality, durability and comfort that they provide. I’ll have to look at their Whiskey jacket, thanks!

    I have a Steele & Jones that was custom - they had a special on a cowhide version of a jacket patterned after the "Tank Chase" jacket in Last Crusade. It's a beautiful, tough jacket and I wear it whenever I can. I also have a old Todd's Costume jacket that I got second-hand - the leather is strange on that one but I love the look of it and the pockets (it was the best side-warmer pockets of any of my Indy jackets). I also got a lambskin Wested second hand - not sure which version it is, but the coloring is more orange (for lack of a better term) than the usual offerings from them. It's really nice - the lambskin is very soft. I also got a James Bond jacket from Wested - the "enjoying death" jacket from Skyfall. It's a really, really nice jacket. LOVE those guys at Wested, they are so nice to communicate with!

      Wow, Brian! You’ve got a great collection!Wested has a wonderful selection of leather with a luxurious feel, it seems, from conversations with other owners of their jackets. Every S&J that I see just looks terrific.
      Since you have such a variety, how would you rate the toughness of all those jackets - including the 007 - on a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the toughest?
      Also, what makes the Todd’s side warmers stand out so much?
      Thanks for sharing and letting me pick your brain!

      @@HatLifeAdventures I forgot one: US Wings in Texas Steerhide. But that was was a bit larger than I was expecting and I couldn't return it. But it's an awesome jacket - definitely a 9 on the toughness scale. The Steele & Jones is a 10. I don't know why those Todd's jacket pockets are special - but they feel bigger than any other I've got. That jacket would be a 6 (just because I can't tell what kind of leather it is - it has certainly stood the test of time as it's my oldest). The 007 feels like a "fashion" jacket - though it's a Wested so I know it's tough. I'd say it's an equal to the Todd's. That other Indy Wested is pretty tough too, though it feels like a lightweight lamb leather.

    • @HatLifeAdventures
      @HatLifeAdventures  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thank you for the rundown! US wings is another really great brand.
      Other than my Lucasfilm and Wested, the only other leather jackets I have are Wilson’s. One that I’ve had for about thirty years and the other about five. Both really good jackets but the Wested is definitely the cream of my crop.
      It’s funny that you describe the 007 as a fashion piece, as I once heard lamb described as a garden party or dinner jacket. It’s what made me choose goatskin.

    Great jacket! Mine is exactly as yours, Raiders in Goatskin. I love the jacket and I wear it daily, the only thing I would say about it "negative" is that the colour is too dark, while the Indy jacket is dark brown. Great jacket anyways! Enjoy it!

    • @HatLifeAdventures
      @HatLifeAdventures  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thank you! It is very dark. The funny thing is that after getting the jacket I bought some dark brown leather water stain and went darker! I embraced the dark side 😁

    I recently bought the new Todds Costumes jacket and it's amazing. I really love the texture of the leather. I was going back and forth between getting that or a Wested. It mainly came down to price. The cost of getting a Raiders in shrunken lamb and then getting Pecards for it would have been around the same price as getting a Steele and Jones TOD in cow hide. I want to get a Wested eventually, I'm thinking I'll get their Crusade jacket.

    • @HatLifeAdventures
      @HatLifeAdventures  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Sounds like you made the perfect decision for yourself!
      Most jackets don’t fit me well enough off the rack, so when I learned that Wested would make a jacket to the customer’s measurements for $300, I was sold, given their great reputation. A quality custom cut for that price is uncanny!
      But if an off the rack would fit me, I would have just stuck with my Lucasfilm jacket. But it doesn’t fit me quite right. I figure in a year or two that I’ll get a Last Crusade, myself!

    • @chrisallegre2897
      @chrisallegre2897 Před 4 měsíci

      @@HatLifeAdventures I get that, that's also one of the main reasons I was considering Wested. I'm pretty lanky so I was nervous with Todd's general sizing but it fits pretty good. Wested has great prices for what they offer. I also want to get one of their Rocketter jackets in the future.

    • @TheWarptOne

      I actually went this route this year. I bought a new Coyle's Clothing jacket and soon after bought the Wested Crusade. While I do like the fit of the Todd's Costume jacket, I did have issues with the first one I received. The leather is really soft and the never worn jacket already had a tear at the handwarmer pocket. I exchanged for another but now I'm afraid of using the handwarmers because I don't want to tear the leather. My Wested Crusade I've had zero issues with and fits like a glove. I even slept in it once in the cold and damp. Took it off and let it dry. Put it back on and it actually fit better. LOL

      @@HatLifeAdventures yeah it's not by much but I was told by a few people that they thought shrunken lamb was a more accurate skin over the legacy skin. So I was debating between goat or shrunken lamb. Then I randomly saw Todd's was offering their jacket again and figured I get that one. It sucks there's so many jackets I want to get because I also want a goat really bad.

      Excellent! It seems like the three most common compliments from folks who have a lamb skin are the softness, the drape and the color. Hopefully, in a couple of years, I’ll get a Last Crusade in lamb.
      Thank you for watching and sharing! You sure have a beautiful country!

    I have three, 2 lambskin custom legacy that are just terrible, the cuts in the chest are weird. I have a cowhide pre distressed that I dyed dark brown (up-close it looked like fake leather)and switched out the D rings with waist strap buckles that looks awesome. the " off the rack" coat fits perfect, the length is right and the cuts in the chest are flat and fit great. Looks 100 times better than the lambskin and was cheaper, great coat and the weight is there, what you would expect from a quality leather jacket. For anybody out there wanting a custom jacket (legacy) and are going for screen accuracy subtract an inch from your overall length from the nape. should sit about 3-4"" lower than your waistline, not in the middle of your ass, sleeves, add an inch from your wrist. I was informed by Wested that the legacy pattern differ from the "off the rack" coats. Make sure you triple check when ordering custom, they do not offer returns or exchanges !

    • @HatLifeAdventures
      @HatLifeAdventures  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Wow! I hate that you’ve had bad experiences with their products. At least the off the rack fit you well.
      When I ordered my custom, my wife took my measurements and then we measured a leather jacket that I had been wearing for years that fit me incredibly well.
      I’m afraid that if I were to go for screen accuracy in a fit I would be highly disappointed.

    Also, I noticed the wear on the lining - my Steele & Jones did the same thing. The spots around the armpits and the interior of the sleeve just get continual abuse if worn a lot. I have yet to get mine repaired. But I think US Wings offers lining repair - I'm just not certain if it HAS to be their jackets or if it could be any jacket. I need to look into that...

    My experience with this jacket comes from the mail order sheet in the "Last Crusade" cassette. I still don't know who made those. But I wore the hell out that jacket from 1990 til today...and it aged so mellow it almost looks like the "Starsky" jacket from season 2.
    And yes, the Stetson fedora on that mail in sheet is also a question of its origin. But I got one anyway. 🙃

      Yeah, my next order of business is to find out who could do it. Surely, someone can (insert Leslie Nielsen joke). Hopefully, someone local. The outside is tough as nails because I’m always rubbing up against walls and what not and snagging it on various protrusions.
