I tried to inform that gcperformance specialized dealer guy about those point loads on alloy stems, he wouldn't hear a bar of it. Said his sworks will never fail.
The sharp edges should be rounded/chamfered yes, but the issue is- as you tighten the head stem bolts, the 28.5mm diameter becomes 27mm. Because they machine that stupid hole and the material thickness/stiffness varies all around the circumference of the stem. This means as you clamp it up its no longer round, it becomes an oval/ellipse.
The stem bolt area is so stiff it stays round and then it has to cut into the steerer. My 2012 specialized has ring of death and clamp marks front and rear.
Your cricket bat/helicopter tape will also stop the battery corrosion from the aluminium to carbon contact too.

What country did you find this listed in? $250 is a steal. Something like this is prob listed for around $500-$750 usd here in NY

NYC has the cheapest bikes ever because so many stolen and that drops the market value of everyone's.

It rides great. One of the best carbon bikes ever made and every chick digs the colour.

Fast looking bike, Harley! Quick question - do you need to worry about ring of death on Alloy steerers? I recently picked up a Bianchi that has a carbon fork with alloy steerer

You should always loosen the stem bolts first..

Why? Doesn't matter man. Most of my bikes I remove the top cap after the bearing preload adjustment is set correctly.

@@DurianriderCyclingTips Depends on the carbon steerer plug expander. Some expander loose tension when removing the top bolt. To be safe, always loosen the stem bolts first. I mean in your case, this is a used bike, so you have no idea what kind of expander is used..
