You should be able to. “Lock”onto an aircraft. And based on crew skill. Then set the fuse correctly so you just have to fire enough time and be accurate.

This gave me the idea to try this in a test drive. I didn’t hit the plane, but I got close, and it’s fun to know you can do this! If anyone is wondering, the shell timer is set automatically, mirroring the distance of the plane after rangefinding.
There should absolutely be more Flak in the game, preferably a more realistic length reload for 88mm flak like every video i see of 88 flak its like 2-3 seconds cap

the annoyance of heavy AA like the 88 is gaijin insists on using the rangefinder (only really useful against stationary targets) to set burst distance, instead of the manually adjustable sight range

The real reason it’s not working as intended is because the War Thunder devs are petty and conniving and eager to nerf every axis weapon to smithereens
@@MimiThomaFlwrs most axis weapons are extremely good what are you talking about? the Kugelblitz, Wirblewind and Ostwind/Ostwind II are all amazing AA pieces. The Regular Tiger is an amazing vehicle too with more than enough pen to kill anything it will face even in a full uptier and the armor is good enough when angled to stop most threats, the Panzer IV also punches way above its BR quite easily and Germans have some of the best gameplay at the 2.3-3.3 BR ranges for when you are new.
There's an old video (like 1940s old) training video for bomber crews talking about German Flack. In it, it discussed how the Germans used their AA guns and how good they got at it. At some point I intend to put it to practice myself as the methods described are a bit unorthodox but considering that Allied bomber crews had the absolute lowest lifetime expectancy of anyone of any army in WWII, id say they were probably on to something
It's funny how when Curtis LeMay stepped in as a Major in th USAAF the bomber crew mortality dropped, bombing precision increased and mission success increased because instead of zig zagging to miss flak he decided that flying forward at full speed is a better idea, notably he personally flew as the first bomber in the formation.
For all you saying ‘He-Vt’ is all super modern, it’s really not. German ground radar actually gave a range of the target/targets, and the times fuse will be set to that. It would be nice for Gaijin to add this into the game. Or maybe just give a nerfed hevt

I didn't invest into the german tech tree but i have the soviet yak 75mm anti air truck and it use anti air burst round. The problem is that you cant set them... Thanks gaijin.

you need to unlock the rangefinder in the modification , then when you range something the shell will explode at the distance where the rangefinder find the distance
