@@PGE613 the mortgage rates in the west end of Canada are set to rise 60%. I am pretty sure that will do more to secure government housing than lowering the costs and capping them.
@RaymondBastien-li6co Not even close. The end of Trudeau Sr's term was when inflation and mortgage rates peaked at an all-time high, and reached levels not seen since. The level of interest was in a bid to combat runaway inflation, caused by meddling in wage and price controls. During the early 1980s, prime lending rates reached 22.75%, while other rates such as the 5-year fixed rate reached as high as 21.75%, both of which are way higher than now or the projected near-term future.
Capping how much people spend on an item does not create more of that item. In fact it drastically decreases how much of that item is available. So what you are encouraging is more homelessness, not more affordable housing.
The problem is that large corporations can price the average Canadian out. The government is building homes for investors. It doesn't matter how many are built.

Definitely lessens the incentive to hold a job or try to work. You won't get much in return for your labour but a lot of stress trying to make ends meet. However, countless folks still eat out plenty, have their sports, vacations, and recreational vehicles, like yachts and campers, etc. Even tho' Canada is in rough times & facing huge challenges with our sick gov't, we're not literally starving!
Are you speaking for yourself and all your wealthy(ish) friends? Because there are plenty of us who are NOT of this mindset and are struggling more than ever before... we don't all have yachts and campers! Some of us don't even have basic necessities.
Students pay and work through their residency in Canada. While phoney asylum seekers get financial assistance housing medical dental schooling and five star hotels. They get this for decades before their hearing and make up false claims. On entering Canada they are not vetted for being child molestors or for criminality etc.and immediately get benefits. They are unskilled, unschooled and do not speak English requiring translators. Probably hotel corporations are involved in getting government payouts to house them. The two scenarios are unfair.
It would seem nothing is his govts fault. All the cabinet ministers when there's a problem, they blame someone else down the line. Isn't it the job of being head of a department to oversee what's going on in that dept? When someone in that dept. hands out a contract worth 80,000$ and it balloons to 60 million and that doesn't raise red flags until the big boss finds out I think that would be reason to terminate the manager and get a police investigation into what happened, that's how the real word operates
We are screwed. In Canada, the Prime Minister has the authority to request that the Governor General dissolve Parliament and call for a new election. However, the Governor General also has the constitutional authority to dissolve Parliament and call for an election if they believe it is necessary. This has traditionally been a rare occurrence and typically only happens when a government has lost the confidence of the House of Commons. However, it is important to note that the Governor General acts on the advice of the Prime Minister, so ultimately it is up to the Prime Minister to decide whether to request a dissolution of Parliament. Therefore, while it may be possible to appeal to the Governor General in some circumstances, the decision ultimately rests with the Prime Minister. When the Prime Minister refuses to request the dissolution of Parliament and call for a new election, the Governor General typically does not have the authority to unilaterally force an election. Ultimately, the power to dissolve Parliament lies with the Prime Minister, as the Governor General typically acts on the advice of the Prime Minister, as per the convention of responsible government. However, if the Prime Minister refuses and the government has lost the confidence of the House of Commons, it may lead to a constitutional crisis. In such a situation, the Governor General may have to navigate the political landscape and potentially seek advice from constitutional experts and other political leaders to find a resolution. However, this remains a highly uncommon and theoretical scenario, and the dynamics of this situation would likely largely depend on the specific circumstances and the interpretation of constitutional conventions at the time.
I am not a scholar of Canadian history, let alone of the history of Canada’s Prime Ministers, so it would be presumptuous for me to say that Justin Trudeau is the worst Prime Minister in Canadian history. Send immigrants North to develop.

How about "It's everybody's fault but mine", will that work?
Tough for the feds to do anything when municipalities and provinces continue to block him from improving the situation.
Right on Pierre🎯
If any prime minister says the dog ate my homework, we are all effffffffing screwed.
Poilievre said it - don't vote for him.
Such a pathetic state of affairs in Canada. Wilful neglect will do that to anything, and the globe trotter/pm has neglected everything, health, homes, food, energy, infrastructure, finances, safety, military, patriotism, security. Good luck Pierre are you sure you want to follow those footsteps?? FREEDOM♥️🇨🇦🇮🇱

How about limiting homeownership to people or entities that reside in Canada at least 12 months of the year and dont leave Canada for more than 2 months of the year.
too restrictive, unless theres blanket immunity for citizens
@@nulled0Please read the comment again.
@@censured-again There is no mention of immunity for citizens. By citizens I mean Canadian citizens, not people who live in Canada for a majority of the year.
You should be able to own a home in Canada, as a citizen, without living in the country.
I would support something like this, as long as there is blanket immunity for citizens.
Of course, citizens only. Not PR. I don't care if there would be additional restrictions on citizenship, such as: born in Canada, or held citizenship for 10+ years.
Rent and mortgage caps are necessary. Disability income for Canada's before funding for foreign war's. Canadians starve and this issue does not get addressed. Government is broken. All of it.
The last PM that dabbled in price controls was Trudeau Sr, and it was a disaster. What you're describing would disincentivize private investment and promote government provided housing.
@@Green__one perhaps people will turn to the Elon Musk $10,000-$50,000 home's and leave what's currently available empty due to costs.
😂😂😂 The Dog ate my homework 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Common sense is not common.
The second choice of the UNWEF, puppet 2 seems to be struggling to read his script and keep eye contact with the cameras.
The problem is that large corporations can price the average Canadian out. The government is building homes for investors. It doesn't matter how many are built.
Thank you sir
Canada is not a country its a crown corporation, How many charters do countries have? how many charters to corpoations have?
Well said, Pierre! Our next Prime Minister!
Heh Poilivre cult members. Don't count your chicken before it hatches. Millions of Canadians think Poilievre is a snotty little creep lying his ass off pretending everything wrong in Canada can be blamed on Prime Minister Trudeau. Poilievre is a sleazy politician.
It’s the classic “Handsomeness does not mean Leadership Greatness”.
After 9 years of the Liberals and Trudeau:
1) we have had the 2nd lowest inflation rate in the G7.
2) we have had RECORD highs on the stock markets
3) we have near RECORD low unemployment.
4) we have THE 2ND HIGHEST standard of living in the world
5) we have 28th from the highest in tax rates in the world.
6) we have RECORD numbers of people employed
And we have a new bunch of poorly informed WHINERS.
@@petercullen1624 Ha ha, you can be the 2nd Trudeau, feeding people with fake information.
@@flyingriders631 Facts are so tough on you. Sorry.
God Bless Pierre
Construction costs in Canada seem to be artificially increased by greed, lots and lots of greed.
Are you trying to imply that home builders in other countries aren't greedy? Or that they weren't greedy a decade ago? I find that very hard to believe.
The only greed that has increased in the past 9 years is that of government bureaucrats.
Why aren't they renovating all the empty warehouses and office space in downtown Toronto? It's already in the centre of the infrastructure with TTC access. They want to make deals for rich land developers that's why.
Yes. Costs more in permits than the actual material and labour costs. We also have the longest waiting time for permits in the world. Second only to Latvia.
Lack of competition brings that. That's what happens in a non competitive business environment like Canada.
@@lajya01 Nothing to do with that actually. It's the rediculous permit length of years and the cost of getting them is more than the cost of building a new house.
PP4PM!
Haha😂, I remember using that line on my math teacher because I didn’t really understand how to do math and I was new to Canada. Well I guess it didn’t work, she was tough on me and I am glad she did!

Canada is a waste
Canada needs NESARA GESARA. They owe the people trillions.
The overall trends have shown a decrease in new homes being built from 2005 to 2015 (CONSERVATIVES), and an increase of new constructions since then (LIBERALS).
Hey Pierre great job
PP for PM! 🇨🇦
Pierre for PM
Trudeau fired the governor general for not colluding with him.
Crown corporations gotta go!

I am not a scholar of Canadian history, let alone of the history of Canada’s Prime Ministers, so it would be presumptuous for me to say that Justin Trudeau is the worst Prime Minister in Canadian history. However, I cannot imagine a Prime Minister worse than Justin Trudeau. He’s an abject failure concerning every important social-economic metric of Canadian society today.
Cannot wait to vote for this man next year. Can't come soon enough though...
Things will only get worse under Poilievre.
@petercullen1624 starting to sound like Trudeau supporter. If you're dumb enough to believe things would be worse with the Conservatives in, then maybe you need to take a hard look at what the liberals would do if turd face got re-elected. We'd be royally screwed if that happened
