What does Trudeau having to go have to do with Pellievre being a better choice than him?
This is my problem with Pellievre.
(well, that and the fact he's reportedly worth $25M while having basically never worked anywhere but for the Conservative political apparatus)
All he wants to do is capitalize on Trudeau's waning popularity (name me a PM who wasn't hated after 3 terms....LOL!)
Poilievre's entire political strategy is to get everyone so worked up over how much they're sick of Trudeau that they don't notice that Pellievre hasn't offered up ANY of his plans or explained HOW he's going to cut a $50B deficit without putting huge numbers of Canadians into poverty in the process.
      OK Pierre.
We get it. You don't like Trudeau. You may even have good reasons.
But what are YOU going to do differently/better and HOW are you going to execute it?
You haven't said that yet in your nearly 2 years of pre-campaign campaigning.
If you tell us you're going to cut taxes, erase the deficit and pay off the debt, these are all good things.
But... there is no free lunch in life, so we want to know specifically what programs you will have to cut to do so, how much each cut will save and how much longer we'll have to wait for government services like health care (single biggest expense for Federal and provincial governments) after your cuts.
Because, from where I'm sitting, he's not going to able to cut event the $50 B it will take to get to $0 surplus/deficit without inflicting some serious pain on Canadians.
Saying he'll do it but offering zero plan and zero numbers to back it up is disingenuous, and won't earn my vote!

If you actually want to lower home prices and renting costs you need to do these things:
    1) Cut immigration drastically - mass immigration has created excess demand which has placed upward pressure on prices. Mass immigration actually caused the housing crisis.
    2) Send back the huge number of "temporary foreign workers" and international students in very large numbers. This will reduce demand for rentals and bring down renting prices quickly which will help young canadians the most.
That's what will actually help. We don't need more homes, we need far less immigration. We didn't have a housing crisis before mass immigration.

That's foolish, so let's be glad you aren't running it.
Immigration is well documented as being not only economically beneficial but necessary in a country with an otherwise declining population due to birth rates below replacement rates.
Simple terms: not enough people born, not enough to prop up economy and remain globally competitive, standard of living falls.
The argument should instead be around house supply and balancing that against the number of newcomers, which admittedly is too high at the moment - but reducing immigration to zero, regardless of your personal views, would result in a FAR worse standard of living than you're currently seeing in this country.

@@adamg6643 I agree. Unfortunately we’re not bringing in viable, skilled immigrants but “asylum seeking” undocumented criminals from 3rd and developing world countries. We are bringing in religious extremists, and ppl who know how to work the system so they don’t have to actually work but become a drain on social resources. We’re NOT accepting Caucasian, skilled immigrants from 1st world countries. These documented ppl are having their applications denied. Caucasians are being systematically replaced with uneducated, easily controlled ppl with low standards of living and governing expectations. Take a look around your city and try to gainsay that. Who are the street ppl in your city, in mine they’re mostly white while those in housing (especially new housing) are mostly Indian, Chinese and Black because they’re subsidized by government. Employers are also subsidized for hiring foreign students and migrants, they only have to pay half the minimum wage while government pays the other half, leaving Canadian citizens out of work. Bell just fired my niece’s whole department, they will likely reopen it after the required time by law has passed using all foreign employees thereby saving money and increasing profits.

When someone in that dept. hands out a contract worth 80,000$ and it balloons to 60 million and that doesn't raise red flags until the big boss finds out I think that would be reason to terminate the manager and get a police investigation into what happened, that's how the real word operates

    We are screwed.
In Canada, the Prime Minister has the authority to request that the Governor General dissolve Parliament and call for a new election. However, the Governor General also has the constitutional authority to dissolve Parliament and call for an election if they believe it is necessary. This has traditionally been a rare occurrence and typically only happens when a government has lost the confidence of the House of Commons. However, it is important to note that the Governor General acts on the advice of the Prime Minister, so ultimately it is up to the Prime Minister to decide whether to request a dissolution of Parliament. Therefore, while it may be possible to appeal to the Governor General in some circumstances, the decision ultimately rests with the Prime Minister.
When the Prime Minister refuses to request the dissolution of Parliament and call for a new election, the Governor General typically does not have the authority to unilaterally force an election. Ultimately, the power to dissolve Parliament lies with the Prime Minister, as the Governor General typically acts on the advice of the Prime Minister, as per the convention of responsible government. However, if the Prime Minister refuses and the government has lost the confidence of the House of Commons, it may lead to a constitutional crisis. In such a situation, the Governor General may have to navigate the political landscape and potentially seek advice from constitutional experts and other political leaders to find a resolution. However, this remains a highly uncommon and theoretical scenario, and the dynamics of this situation would likely largely depend on the specific circumstances and the interpretation of constitutional conventions at the time.
