- Frank Itt is one of the busiest bass players in Germany. He's teaching at the famous Popakademie in Mannheim and playing for numerous well known german and international artists. We met him at the "Feel The Bass" show in Mannheim and asked him to "close his eyes, feel like home and jam". Well... he did... and he did well ;) Here's 5 minutes of non-stop finger style groove. In my humble opinion - 5 minutes of pure gold!
Unfortunately Frank has no website or Fb page that I could link - just Google him if you want to find out more!
Thanks to everyone at Feel The Bass for letting us shoot during their event. Check out: www.feelthebass.de/
Thanks everyone for watching!
Best wishes from Germany,
Gregor Fris - Zábava

Frank is the shit! Bass the way bass is supposed to be played pure groove. And later for the bass face or what he has on . He makes the bass come alive with his spirit,No fancy fast runs just holding that grove down pure fat backing. Would love to have him as a teacher, but I''m 69 years old and have no money, but you touch me every time I pull up your video, you rock Frank itt, through all times and that's all that matters.
The concept of "never soloing, always soloing" perfectly illustrated. Awesome groove
Nevermind the great play, this man has an amazing jamming face.
+Carl Bernroth HAHAHAHA totally!
the groove himself
Carl Bernroth ...bass face
One of the things that makes this jam so enjoyable to me, is the way the dude Frank returns to his initial root note every other bar. It is so pleasing to my ear, to know that no matter how much the player will ...wander in other chords, sooner or later he is going to bust that initial note! I find it similar to musical phrases arranged over a drone note... an underlining frequency that keeps the pieces together - in my mind at least! This is this the kind of thing that I can instantly appreciate and relate to!
Frank nailed itt!!! Everyone today wants to slap and pop (and it has it's place), but there's nothing like the clean smooth sound of the classic finger style. LOVE IT!!!
Sounds good and he never had to start slapping. Old school. Like it.
I agree. Very confident playing style.
I prefer this style to slapping 100% of the time. Gimme that fat tone and those tight ghost notes.
eric pieper ...agreed
But, "slapping" first arrived on record (at least) in 1969, when Larry Graham was playing with Sly & The Family Stone on tracks like "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)", and Graham started doing that when he was a kid while playing in church. You can't get no more "old school" than Larry Graham and other the subsequent 1970s era of bass thumbing / slapping / popping. Your comment makes no sense.
@@skineyemin4276 4 notes groove what else ? george clooney is a mermaid :)
Does anyone else see a tiny man doing the endless moonwalk across his strings?
+John Roder Yesssssss jajaja
LOL !
Can't unsee it now.
😂
hahaha yes
the way he resolves that tritone riff he starts at 3:01 is beyond satisfying
The funk is strong with this guy.
This is about the 20th time playing it :)
dude parallel parked backed into that pocket in the end like a boss
Greatest comment ever.
Lol thanks :p
Fucken best comment !
Such a killer groove. I could listen to this all day long
I have played this one like 100 times over past 3 years. Its just best bass vid there is on YT for me. This is where I want to get. Dont get me wrong. There are faster, more WOW players, slappers, record breakers. Frank Itt is the name I say every time some one asks me "who" is my role model for bass.
Finaly a nice honest Bass groove perfect Doodelying away in the background on a Saturday morning, gonna play again and then do it myself !
You don't dare to call yourself a bass player if you don't feel what's like to have that look at 4:46. Love it, keep the groove coming!
What a groove! Do it Frank!
EricBlackmonGuitar hello
my ears are smiling !!! pure talent - WOW
I watched this video for a minute and a half dead, then I pulled the side bar down on the right and listened without watching the screen, and man that walking right hand you have is really very, very good...G...
now that's so nasty funk. i could listen to you all night. smooth and groove is the key to funk. bravo frank
I love watching Frank’s left hand. The dexterity and independence he has is something else. And he is always tasteful in his playing - very much a theme and variations thing happening here. While I resemble Frank a bit, that’s as far it goes. I admire this guy…
This is a prime example of what we like to call "The Groove Face."
I am in USA and always enjoy seeing and hearing a great bassist in Germany or anywhere else in the world. Isn't Bass the World from Germany? They have very talented bassists and Josef you can't tell me you cant compare them to our USA bassists. I don't want a comparison anyway. Just to listen and learn. Peace.
sound that he makes, come from hes fingers ... a real bass man
finally real bass playing, great
As a fellow lumpy old white guy. I am thrilled to see my brother laying it down !

One of my favourite tracks Frank was playing is the „the Duckwalk“ with/from Michael Sagmeister. He even slaps at the end of his solo. Frank has been a big inspiration why I started playing bass. Thanks
Track can be found on YT
Damn. That was so good. Restrained, melodic and tasteful.First class playing.
It is really great to see somebody getting so into their music. Wonderful!
personally I just love this jam.....puts me in the flow every time.
Frank Itt, Your the MAN, I love your style.
Man I was grooving to this. I have practice the drums everyday note for the last month. I'm trying to get better. I got tired of playing to church songs so I found this. Two thumbs up.
Respect, bro. Love the funk.
5 minutes of pure awesomness!)
Now there's great bass playing and great bass grooving... I think we got a little bit of both worlds there.... Awesome post.
Facial expressions are like : "Mmh, dat bass"
I fucking died laughing at this.
John Rivera y u do dis...
xD
I have watched this video several times since it came out, and it always makes me happy :)
Time to read up on my grooves. Thanks for the new material! Namaste.
Smoove Groove, Funkiness of a bass guitar player, Awesome!
great funky soulful feel and groove Frank ! I'm glad I clicked on it !
Hahaaa.
Daumen hoch . Die Behringer-Box im Hintergrund ist aber peinlich .
I love watching Frank play. Flawless!!
I still enjoy listening to this on my playlist
You are amazing! I am glad to have run across this post!!!! Relaxed and Tight at the same time....I wish I taken up the bass!!!!

Wow....that was a cool Grove!! Thank you!
Great technique man! Sound like Stanley Clark without hardly any effort. You are a groove master!
Back again Frank Itt! I know just how he feels playing this!!!😄😄😄🔊🔈🔉🎸🎼🎶🎵
Awesome groove! Love this! 😍
love it! Frank em all! Cant wait till your next vid!!!
Amazing stuff!! Technique is stellar
When he was playing with "The Touch" in american army clubs in frankfurt and munich in the 80s... with Terence Trent d´Arby... we called him "the pig"... but in full RESPECT for this great talent and performance! No offend... it was like a big compliment, Frank!
From 0-50 sec. This man took funk to a whole new level.
this dude is making LOVE to the music.
Epic jam Frank! Awesome technique and tone.
Great groove. Sick tone. Well done.
Someone should edit a clip of this and make a gif of his fingers moon walking up and down some little stairs or some shit
You sir are the Tickle Monster. Sick grooves.
Awesome! I've seen Frank play live on stage at the Musik Messe Frankfurt, Germany. He really grooves!
Very nice bassman , Big UP
I know it's wrong to compare myself to this after just over a year of seriously playing bass but....arrrrgghhh, why can't I come anywhere near this level of improvisation. So good. So envious.
you go sir Frank & lay down that bassline funkiness like you own it man yeah!
Outstanding!!!!
Well it's almost the hundred time I enjoyed it Frank. Simply great perhaps we'll see us sometime in Salzgitter again. And now folks it's time for me to go for some bass practice, although knowing that it's hard to reach this level. For me it's work and for him just jamming, that's the difference.
Great study of alternating finger plucking .. so even and fluid.
This is now the song I listen to in the morning to get motivated to go to work.
best groove i've ever heard. frickin amazing
This dude is running his chords old skool with skill and funky grace do it Frank you Da Man baby!!!✅💯💪🏿😎🎸🎤🎧

Ohhh! That's awesome!
YEAH! finally a guy who care more about the melody than to show off a gazillion techniques or break speed records. Excellent!
Reminds me of Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick
That is some down home nasty bass. Well done, you have my respect Frank.
Finally, someone with a sense of time! Good job bro.
