Frank is the embodiment of Bass Face and is half the reason I watch this channel, make sure he knows that lol
He definitely has "Bace"
Totally agree!
@@A_Stereotypical_Heretic 'Bace' 😅
@@A_Stereotypical_Heretic How fitting, because it also has an "ace" in it.
@ ace of bass?
The best bass face on CZcams. Those axes sound great.
Frank Itt basically invented the Bassface while playing.
Nickname Babyface

I LOVE my two Modern Vintage basses! I have the 70s P and J, and the P in particular is now my main gigging P bass. Besides the amazing playability, and true vintage tone, the thing that makes it for me is they really nailed the 70s B neck profile. I can’t get comfy on those big, wide, flat 60s necks, no matter how nice the bass might be - I won’t play it. They modeled several 70s necks to come up with a perfect blend of dimensions. This is my favorite P bass neck ever, and surely the best sounding P I’ve ever owned - and I’ve owned a LOT of them!
The 70s J is also killer. I was sad that I sold my fantastic 74 J during Covid, but this one is intrinsically a much better instrument. There are no dead spots, the neck is perfect (no fret noise), and the instrument rings like a well-tuned bell. Fantastic!
Basically, Modern Vintage is making them the way Fender USED to. Before they used cheap neck wood and had to install graphite rods to keep their necks from instantly failing. Before “noiseless” pickups. Before “Hi-Mass bridges”. Before there was “MIM” or “CIJ”…. These basses feel like the original US Fenders of days gone by… but they are consistently great - Fender maybe hit “great” 1 out of 4 times. I HAVE played Fender style basses that rival Modern Vintage - Olinto, Alleva Coppolo, Nordstrand come to mind. Check the prices though. Those brands run upwards of 4k for a P bass. MV is under 2K! The quality/price ratio is definitely in favor of MV.
My man's bass stank face is on point.
😂
Stank face? Is that from the guy who came up with the useless ramp and Velcro wrap? Talk about money making gimmicks………
Hardcore stank face
Absolutely!
Frank is the absolute king of Bass Face, that man is a complete beast of the low end and there's no doubt about it
The '72 would give me that Geddy Lee 'Moving Pictures' sound I've been looking for.
Gregor. The clarity of these basses. WOW!
I wonder if the recorded direct on to the audio interface or used a DI box 🤓 Super clean sound.
I had a '66 in red, and sold it. I loved it! Go to Marvin Gaye on Soultrain and see it.
Frank is playing! Any bass should sound good!
As usual, I came for the daily bass fix and stayed for the bass face.
I NEED a T-shirt with Frank's BassFace! Otherwise, I could never even think of calling myself a bass player 😎
I’m a true Frank Itt fan, I remember meeting and jamming with him back in 1983, while he was playing with “ Leaf” and the band “ The Touch”. He’s always been a beast on the bass and a all around cool guy.
Frank's tune "Profilaxe" was a big reason for me getting into playing slap bass in the first place - awesome
The brand name "Vintage" was already confusing enough for search engines.
Grumpy German bassist was something I didn't know I needed to see today. He rules!
Thank you Gregor and Frank.
Frank is Way More than the King of "Bass Face", he IS BASS FACE and my girlfriend wants to dance with him if he's ever in Canada. Awesome absolutely awesome show and channel guys 😁
I'm a big fan of the 70s bridge position especially when it's on active electronics, it has that distinct bite
Agreed!
killer basses, love my MVP4-62
Frank is puttin' it down! He spoke volumes through the basses!
These sounds really good! Also, love Franks Bass Face! We've all got one!
They actually sound vintage 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love the sound of the 66. I hope they come out with Reliced versions in the future!
Give me $500 and borrow yours for a week, and I’ll “relic” it for you 😅
If you met that guy on a boss level of a video game you would have no idea he was such a wonderful bass player.
Yeah you would - his special attack would be sonic! (You can tell the attack is coming because he does the BassFace right before slapping you DOWN!)
Those basses sound GREAT!
My first bass was from the Sears catalog. Loved it. Miss it.
Always a great video review!
That red Bass sounds amazing!
You rock, Frank!
Can definitely see the neck issues with these basses. I bought a MV PBass model last year, and though I tough the bass sounds great, I came across similar issues. The frets needed leveling and the nut was way to high. Also the pickups were quite lose in there sockets… It could all be fixed, but took time, and of course some of the excitement.
I normally use Marleaux basses exclusively, never came across even one of those issues. Still think that these are great basses, but they definitely have to amp up there quality control.
These basses are Killer!! ❤😎👍🏼
Me encantó!
Great, I wanna grow old like Frank Itt!
They sound great! And look amazing as well!
God damn Frank has some savage bass face while playing!
Dude, thumbs up to the base-face base player. He suffers along with his instrument as they pace through the notes together. Really cool.
Those modern vintage seem great, not really my thing but they look top drawer and sound great.
Great sound.
I wasn't prepared for this ol Deutsch dude to bring it like that
Still hankering after that Cort Elrick NJS-I feel like a stalker
Frank face is GOLD. You know if the product is good by looking at Frank's bass face. That's my indicator. No bass face from Frank ? I am not buying.
Was the fret buzz the upper or lower frets Gregor?
this was the perfect opportunity to compare bridge pickups in the same setting …what a shortcoming !
We’re recording the sound samples usually long before I make a concept what this video will actually be. You’re right, but when these „opportunities“ come up, it’s already too late
Super great in-depth review of those Modern Vintage basses! Well done 😀
Love this guy's bass face!
The bass face is strong with this one 😤
Awesome video
It would have been nice to compare both basses with the same setting (bridge pickup).
I listened VERY closely to this review because of how much Ed Friedland promotes these
Man oh man alive, those there basses sound phenomenal shook me the core, gotta go 🚽 keep it funky😎
Happy weekend guys
Damn! Mortadela has skills and tone!!!
Frank got it going on!!!
0:29 the guy is on fire! So groovy...
Allo guys not seen ya for a while Frank still got da chops then😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Devil's Horn = Dio
BassFace = Frank
To have a good sound in a bass, you must also have the amp to go with the sound you are looking for. As for a really deep bass with smooth sound, the Kustom is the amp. For hard hitting amps, Fender and Ampeg are the ones.
Uncle Frank dropping that funk
Too expensive when for a fraction of the price you could go for a Sire bass
I have a sire v7 vintage v2 and the modern vintage has a rather different sound - more grunt, punch. Maybe you could get there with different pickups on a sire. I like my sire and it’s tough to beat the value but might put some Delano or bassmods pickups in it to move the tone in this direction.
Your dad is a beast on bass !
:)
Thanks
Sir!! Do they make a Precision model???
Is there a video or will there be a video featuring that bassman rack in the background?
not yet and I'm not planning to do anything with it atm
Looks can be deceiving, for sure. This German/Austrian-sounding bald man plays bass as soulfully as any funk bassist I’ve ever heard and I was playing music (drums) in the ‘70s, when I was a teenager. Sweet video!
Blessings, Grace and Peace 😊
My fender japanese marcus miller jazz bass sounds bad. Should I just change the pickups?
Quality bass face there😎
i love wintage bass
🤔... So, the steel shield is for trapping ring with the dual pickups ?
Hi Gregor! Can you tell me what strings you had on these basses when you recorded them?
We used the stock strings. Not sure what Modern Vintage uses
fine ! thank you
Frank Itt?? Never heard of him, bit he GROOVES.
Pai e filho, hein. Bonito ver a família unida…
Lol .
I may be able to play as bass as well as Frank, but I will never be able to bass my face as well as Frank. I much prefer the red one - love the multiple styles you can play with them.
From the headstock I thought it was another collab between elrick and cort 🤣
Yeah but where can I get these pick ups?
Show!
Frank for president
I'm here for the great Maestro ITT, since I can't afford any Gear. Wish I had him in my band.
I hate to say it, but a lot of the guys doing bass reviews/unboxings don't have a solid pocket. Which is weird. The playing here is done with a solid meter. Simple, yet funky and satisfying.
oh my amazing bass face! cheers!
great
0:10 vintage German face.
Frank the Tank on Bass
BassFace......engage!
PLeaaaase reveiw the 5 string version!
I hope get one but I haven’t money it is so expensive in my country
No facial muscles were hurt in the video.
best face ever JAJAJ
i love this ballhead face
That bass face!
Grandpa really wanted those kids off his lawn while he was playing.
There should be a Frank Bass Face video game.
Me gusta suenan genial pero me gustaría isieran de 5 cuerdas
The dark one has lots of buzz
modun & windage?
For a hot second I thought this was gonna be about Vintage (Trev Wilkinson) but it's Modern Vintage.
But which came first? Vintage or Modern Vintage?
Frank and the Funk = Nasty Face...💯👍
high level bass face
if Frank can rent out that bass face have him PM me! or perhaps a bass face demo tutorial......EPIC
This bass sounds so good because of bassist, same like any other bass...
