Wedges please
Driver would love to see the McGregor MacTec X Adjustable driver $149 US
Alex - great focus for this video, please make more. We’re all looking for bargains!
Good choice! I've been using the Gen3 version of that driver for three seasons.
I have the Gen5 XF driver 10.5 (that I got for a discounted price) and I keep tweaking the weight setup as my swing improves and changes. Keeps me from buying a new driver, which is brilliant. The better my swing plane gets the more forgiving I find that driver to be, lol. I even snagged a 12 degree head in the same model and fashioned myself a mini driver out of it with my local club builder (and adjustable weight kit). It's now a low-stress, easy swinging club in the tee box and FUN because I find 8/10 fairways now with it and still get the distance I need by hitting up on the ball. Never thought I would see the day that I enjoy hitting the driver with no pressure. And I saved loads vs TM miniBRNR.
I have an 0811 XF, but it looks different. It definitely doesn't have the weights on the bottom.... and the sound is definitley not dull. Its usually the loudest club on the range.
I think the PXG story about MOI is marketing; the bottom line is that ALL driver designs try to maximize MOI and COR. As for the sound, PXG added a plastic (TPE) honeycomb piece on the bottom of the club inside the head to dampen the noise. As you noticed, some say it goes too far as it sounds pretty dead and the dampening of the sound also reduces feedback. Your higher tee on the latter shots would bring the spin down, and you didn't mention launch angle, but with fitting, maybe it could be dialed in for you better.
*Funny-- I enjoy the dull sound*
I think this would be better for a mid to high handicap golfer. My opinion
I love the look and sound mate lol. A bit dull but I don’t mind that. Each to their own lol. And the low trajectory is great on a windy or Links course.
I’m going to look for one 100% at that price wow.
Keep the vids coming 👍
In 2018, I had the gen 1 0811x and i use to tee it with the ball 100% above the driver head. It was the best driver i ever had
Had this , great driver , now have the 0211, another good club , gen 5 can be had cheap too.
I noticed this exact trend and hopped on it a few months ago, old PXG drivers offer tremendous value
I've collected over the years a number of Drivers and Woods. Wondering, wouldn't trying out the Lynds old Big Bertha metal clubs to be a good idea for one to try out on the course before buying a Hybrid? I think it would indicate to the player an indication of the clubhead size and loft to gap the Woods to Irons.
Picked up a Callaway Epic flash with headcover & evenflow shaft in ex cond for hardly anything , best driver I've ever had.
Epic flash is the best. I have 3 of them, use one off the deck and keep one for back up. I've played em all...epic flash with evenflow green shaft is still the best.
@@doncoen1698 Agreed I have that shaft also.
God I hated that driver. Awful in my hands
I got a few years ago for $100. Just sold it last week for $170. Amazing driver
I got the safe feeling with the Mizuno STZ-220. Most forgiving driver I have ever hit. However it was SO SOFT feeling that it just almost had no feel. I switched to the paradym which is NOT nearly as forgiving but just had much better feel.
I bought my Cobra F8+ with 75 gram stiff HZRDUS shaft new for $100 the year after it came out. Definitely can't beat buying older clubs.
Have u tried pxg gen5 xf driver i got one custom fitted for £250 brillant driver
The 0211 series is widely considered really high quality for the price. I bought a 0211 7 wood last year that has been my most consistent club in my bag, both in the fairway and off the tee (when my driver isn't playing nice). It cost me $150 brand new and I was able to put in the type of shaft and grip I want which was pretty nice!!! I recently bought a gen 5 (or 6 I can't recall) 25 degree hybrid which I also love! Has an adjustable sleeve which I love because I tend to draw/hook the ball and I hate that most hybrids look closed at setup to me. Honestly, I may go with a PXG driver next as they are just so good looking and the performance from what I have seen/heard is really good for the price!
I got the same 7 wood when PXG was blowing them out and I had the exact same experience as you. Beauty of a club and I will never sell it because I will have to pay quadruple for something that I may not even hit better.
I have the Gen 4 I bought off marketplace and I paid $125 in like new condition. I agree, the sound is dull.
Is the Gen2 better than the Gen4 0811FX Alex
Still hitting Cobra Fly Z, 85 gram reg. shaft!
I like the sound and if you don't like it I will take it of your hands 😊
I'm new to the game, and absolutely a high handicapper. I can't say I've ever been focused on the sound
You can get a brand new Pxg gen 4 driver X or XF for 199
Could you do the same theme for a 3 wood and a set of irons?
That would help me decide on my next fairway wood and choice of irons.
yeah ! good idea
Mizuno st max seems like a good competitor for this category.
PXG hired former Ping lead product designer Mike Nicolette who holds 179 US utility patents as inventor, as well as having his name on 255 US Design patents. They also hired former Ping Director Of Engineering, Brad Schweigert. I’m sure they poached other Ping engineers as well.
Yet Ping are still turning out great clubs!
It seems that most of the reviewers have it set above 9* which would indicate where their higher ball-flight is coming from. Plus a higher tee height.
Total is a lot of 💩 here in the UK in these conditions. Carry is the more important number and much more realistic without an optimistic monitor
I got a Calloway Rogue ST Max last week for £160 with a head cover (ha ha) - amazing club, bargain. Don’t look any further
Great video Alex, I want you to find the absolute longest bargain driver out there. Then compare to your new Taylormade. Cheers
Consider it done!! I’ll get searching 👀👀👀
I bought it last year Taylormade r7 £29. Excellent condition
I have the R7 SuperQuad with a UST V2 Proforce shaft… I hit it as good as any of the newer drivers & I’ve tried quite a few in the last 2 years…I have had this driver for 10 yrs
Try yelling POW when you hit the ball…Hahaha 😊. If you really don’t like it I’ll buy it from you.😊
I don’t think there is a USGA MOI limit. A COR limit, yes, and MOI limit, no. Am I wrong?
Nope. It's the Head by Powerbilt. Designed in Austria by Head. Yes the company that makes Skis and Tennis Racquets. I picked it up on a recommendation. Threw My Taylor Made M1 on Ebay immediately as a tomato can compared to the Head. HZRDUS Smoke Black shaft.
Alex, would you say that the flight is lower than a typical 9 degree driver? Maybe the forgiveness is more about the height? Your low tee shots were still flying 250 or so.
I would say so yes
The performance seemed great.
If it’s sound you’re after, get yourself an old Nike Sumo SQ (square head)… 😂
Or ear plugs…
If this club is several years old and was "almost illegal" MOI, that raises a lot of questions.
Not really almost is not illegal
@@castnoshadow82lr48 Here's some questions. What was the MOI? What MOI number is illegal? TaylorMade is the quest for 10k. Was this already 10k? Were last year's most forgiving clubs less forgiving than this? Etc.
So many words….
I hate loud sounding drivers. Don’t know why a quiet one would be a problem
I've got one. Not your spec though 👍
I wouldn’t care if it sounded like Benny Hill slapping little Jackie on his bald head! For that price and performance!
Interesting, but I would rather see you deliberately hit the ball in different spots on the club face and see what the ball flight and numbers look like since golfers who need the most forgiving drivers generally hit the ball all over the club face!
"Teeters on the brink of being illegal". Nothing new about that. Clubhead designers have been doing that since the max MOI limits came in.
Where are these fore-rooms? 😁
Polar opposite in sound to the Cleveland driver, much better.
Ah the zingy tings of cleveland
Loft up to 10
If you don’t like the sound of that driver, I will pay you what you paid for it. You see, those of us who grew up on wooden drivers are on love with a solid, no pingy sounding driver. We hate the others. They all sound too hollow. So yeah, I will take that off your hands if you want to part with it. The only thing I would need to do is go to a regular flex shaft. I am not fast enough these days to need a stiff. But again, I love the dull sound of yesteryears drivers. Hate the new ones.
Also, those site where guys talk about golf, it is like it is spelled. A FOR UM. Forum. Not FOR ROOM.
Are golfers really leaving Ping to buy PXG? I’ve yet to see a PXG driver at our local club.
Obviously not a member at Willow Valley otherwise you’d see my PXG Gen 4 driver there😂
@@user-ln1sg3fp7z not seen one at our club!
Work on your pronunciation of forums.
A loss of energy will be revealed by high sounds
Is that a clone?
Nope
We absolutely do not care about total yards. We want Carry
I purchased a Gen 1 0211 new for $130us a couple of years ago, and it is very nice.
Love that! Do you still have it?
