- I had a great day painting. This is my second one...a 10 x 8 inch canvas board glued onto a panel. I usually use MDF or masonite only, but thought I'd experiment. I liked the texture without the bounce of stretched canvas. The clouds were in and out frequently, so I had to pick the shapes I liked and make it work. The inset picture in the video is what the scene was like when I started. The storm clouds came in quick! It was painted on the grounds of a local college with lots of woods around.I've painted before up on the hill looking back. Lots of potential here. Thanks for watching! Questions?...leave them in the comments.

Loving your work Bruce...
Thanks Steve!
I like the color. Good video Bruce and very informative.
Thanks Larry. We plein air painters can't always paint sunny days:)
I just found you. so beautiful. I just subscribed. your colors are so clear. thank you for sharing your talent and for explaining everything to us. bless you.
Thanks Sandra! Thank you for subscribing. I'm glad you find the videos useful.
Thank you Bruce for a good video.:)
Your welcome
do not mind voice over..just happy to view your videos thank you
Thanks Barbaranne....it helps...sometimes it's hard to paint and talk, so voice over is handy for later. :)
Thanks for the good lesson.can you please show the paints you use and how you mix them?
Thank you for watching. I've thought about that aspect before and am trying to work out the logistics. I've thought about two cameras...one showing the palette and my mixing as I'm painting and the other showing the painting itself. Out in the field that would be difficult though. I'll do my best to come up with a compromise.
How do you like the guerrila painter box? Do you find it heavy? I wanted to point out that though the picture shows the tree on left as dark green, a yellow-green as you've started here, is more accurate because cameras frequently darken shadows. One of many reasons why important to paint from life. Just wanted to note your value of tree is correct, whereas the value of tree in picture is not correct. Love how you talk about what and why you make choices as you paint.
Thanks Cori - I LOVE my Guerilla Box. I like that I can carry about 85% of what I need in the field inside the box . I can be up and painting in less than 4 mins. It's not the lightest on the market...but with the "lighter"ones out there (open M,etc.)you end up needing something else to carry your panels, your paint tubes, brushes...so...is your setup still "lightweight".Hmmm.. I like doing the voice overs to explain more in detail. Sometimes with painting and talking on site it doesn't work as well...especially with the mic picking up sound (with wind and all). Thanks for watching. Oh... and yes, the inset picture I include is taken at time of starting and FREQUENTLY changes dramatically through the course of painting:) I just want people to see what I'm referring to for subject matter.
I can hear very little of what you say. Nice work.
Hi - Sorry about that. That video goes back a bit :) I have since improved the sound quality quite a bit. I invite you to take a look at some current videos and let me know what you think.
Have seen a couple of videos congrats . But can you mention what colors your using during your painting strokes. Thanks
Thanks for watching the video. I'm working on a way to film me painting and filming my palette as I reach down for color, but it seems like a big production...tripods,etc. :) I will try to do more real time segments and talk about what colors are being used as I paint certain parts...especially odd colors to mix or usual mixing process. My videos are a work in progress for sure :) I'll do my best.
Can barely hear it on my PC laptop.
Sorry that you had that problem. This one is an older one and my techniques have improved. I invite you to check out my new videos.
