For those who don’t know, Ahriman gets his name from the Zoroastrian religions Devil . Judeo/Christian/Islam all have taken their monotheistic beliefs from this ancient and still practiced religion as well as their beliefs in a Devil. Another aspect is that the Zoroastrian priesthood are known as Magi , where we get the terms magic and magician as well. GW has always been willing to use as well as twist religious archetypes as inspiration for characters for the game, such as the 4 Arch Angels being twisted into the 4 chaos gods. Jervis Johnson ( one of GW’s original creators) has acknowledged this many times in both his column in White Dwarf as well as in interviews at many Cons . 40k has also heavily borrowed from the artist H R Giger whose work was admittedly influenced by the Occult, not just his designs for Alien which was the main influence for the tyranids. The early history of GW is fascinating as the artists they had sculpting for them were all young and involved in creating the lore and were admitted “Fanboys “ who were inspired by the movies, books and music of their time ( the 1980’s ) as well as all the movies, books and music of the past. Magnus is referenced by king crimson’s , in the hall of the Crimson King, Jagheti Khans lighting bolt facial mark comes from David Bowie’s, Aladdin Sane. Necromunda’s gangs were inspired by Punk Rockers , which were more prolific in the UK than in the USA, as GW is very much an English inspired game. Sorry for going off on this but I was introduced to the game at the end of the 80’s by my cousins with the Rogue Trader rule book, though I didn’t start collecting myself til 3rd Ed, which many old schoolers agree was the best rule book they ever put out, 3rd Ed fantasy’s rule book was a masterpiece as well. I just recently have given my fiancé’s little brother my collection and begun to teach him the game, I’m happy to be passing the torch to the enthusiastic 9 yr old. I just hope GW stops some of its current direction as those who created it and made the game great no longer are in control of it and it’s becoming one of those horrible corporate entities that they’ve portrayed in the past as evil. I’m still not happy about what they’ve done to TTS as it was the best parody of the game, not to mention their stance on 3D printing, I’ve already gotten flack at their stores from certain employees for scratch building vehicles , check out the yahoo group bwc.archive as they’ve plans to build just about every 40k vehicle for 5$ or less in materials. Especially if you build it as I have from the boxes from various box sets and boxed units, therefore made out of GW products! Also check out the company EM4 miniatures as they’ve inexpensive plastic minis that are scale with 40k and can convert with 40k bits if you want. Lastly check out the company Prince August from Ireland, they not only produce molds in 28mm for the Roman Wars range that I’ve used to easily convert up IG infantry but they also still carry NOS for the game Warzone, which GW bought out in the 90’s to prevent them from directly competing with them, I got the still in the shrink wrap old box set shipped to the USA for 35$ which has 80 plastic minis ( 2 40 man armies) that are scale with Guardsmen and bits swap back and forth between them and GE products. Hopefully this’ll help some of you who don’t have access to a 3D printer save a lot of $$$$. Also there are several free audiobook sites that give you all their content unlike the limited free books from audible. Sorry for my rant and sharing my Forbidden Knowledge about how to Not buy GW’s products yet still play. You just need a box set to start, then make your own. Also I’ve recast their minis in resin, you can look up resin casting and make 100’s of their exact minis and nobody will know, though I mostly just cast weapon arms to do conversions, it’s always good to keep the figures you want to recast still on the sprue and make the mold that way till you have enough and yes there is a learning curve but so does printing
My apologies if I previously put in any direct links that may have caused any problems, I’ll cease in this as I was confused why they went away, I don’t want to cause any copyright strikes as you’ve done some fantastic lore videos, my apologies for my ignorance
Glad you shared the first part, because it is what made Warhammer 40K so amazing. About the second part: I would be against it, were it not for the "evil corporate overreach" -so I fully agree, unfortunately.
The theme of Ahriman is that when he cares and is selfless things go down the tubes, but when he is selfish and power-hungry things go splendidly. He is aware of this fact, but can't accept that Tzeentch has made it so. He hates this fate which pleases Tzeentch since he always keeps striving forward.

All hail the Amber King. _Ahriman stories in order:_ (The "Ahriman: xxx" books are the main books) 1. All is Dust 2. Ahriman: Exile (novel) 3. The Dead Oracle 4. Fortune’s Fool 5. Hounds of Wrath 6.The First Prince 7.Gates of Ruin 8. Ahriman: Sorcerer (novel) 9. Hand of Dust 10. King of Ashes 11. Ahriman: Unchanged (novel) 12. Key of Infinity 13. A Coin for the Carrion Thieves
I've only been picking up on Warhammer lore through CZcams channels, but this is the first time I've heard of Ahriman and his story is fantastic and I think one of my favourite stories I've heard so far - and the idea of chaos marines invading Commorragh sounds like a fantastic next phase in his tale. As always, your narration is wonderful too, I find it really pleasant on the ears.
I can recommend the books on Ahriman especially, but for the full effect, read the books about Magnus and Prospero / the Thousand Sons. It will give you a very nicely rounded epic of a complex tragic hero who becomes the villain and remains admirable even though he's twisted. *Magnus the Red and The Thousand Sons:* Magnus the Red: Master of Prospero The Crimson King A Thousand Sons Prospero Burns The Ashes of Prospero *Ahriman books in order:* _(The "Ahriman: xxx" books are the main books)_ All is Dust Ahriman: Exile (novel) The Dead Oracle Fortune’s Fool Hounds of Wrath The First Prince Gates of Ruin Ahriman: Sorcerer (novel) Hand of Dust King of Ashes Ahriman: Unchanged (novel) Key of Infinity* A Coin for the Carrion Thieves*
Another fun little thing about the whole thing with Prospero in particular is, that it references Shakespeare. Prospero is one of the main characters of the romanceplay "The Tempest", which stars another character with a name that might sound familiar, since its Caliban. Prospero, the ousted duke of Milan and a sorcerer, strides to retake his rightful throne, while he keeps the only living person on the island that he stranded on, Caliban, as a slave by magical means. And while the whole play (brilliant play by the way) goes in a very different direction, its quite interesting that at least on this basis, the both names fit. Prospero, which here could also be Magnus, the rightful ruler of Prospero, was ousted and broken by treachery, like Prospero in the play was by his rival, his brother Antonio. Caliban on the other hand, homeworld of Lion El'Johnson was a slave to the warp and the beasts that dwelled there, so the theme fits. The real difference might be in the end, that the Tempest has a happy ending where everything is resolved, while in 40k its inverted, and both worlds and characters go down in tragedy.
Just wanted to say your content has so much polish and technical skill in narration and pacing. I work at a dump literally and do sort e waste everyday for hours your stuff keeps me distracted rain or shine absolutely immersed! Thanks I really do mean it
A bit late, and the question isn't directed at me, but I've just discovered your stuff and love it, great to listen to at work. Would love to see a few different Eldar characters get a deep dive
Yes! Was hoping he'd use my favourite version of Ahriman in the art. The Michael Scott version. 'Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.' lol
You're one of my favourite CZcams channels when it comes to Warhammer 40K. Thanks to the editing I can fully immerse myself into this grim yet beautiful universe. Thank you for you beautiful work
One of Ahrimans best abilities, is to sound ohh so humble and reasonable. Fellow Thousands Sons know only to well, that he has and will sacrifice anything and anyone to achieve his goals of saving his Legion, but he always sounds so reasonable and good. He is a monster of the highest order, but he can still see himself as a doomed anti-hero striving against fate!
So I've been blown away by your quality of content over something as expansive and complex as Warhammer 40K, the way you present the information it's just complimented completely by the sound of how soothing your voice is. That being said I want to ask if you'll be doing any other sort of topic aside from just Warhammer 40K. Like for instance full you ever be branching into something like the old Warhammer fantasy lore or age of Sigmar? Maybe Frank Herbert's Dune, or even something like Robert E Howard's Conan the Barbarian series. Personally for some reason I think the thing that will capitalize the best on your talents would be something like audiobook reading. Regardless you got massive talent here so thank you for the entertainment.
This was great to watch and to listen to; the production value of your videos is great as is your narration, you honestly deserve a much greater audience and followship. Keep up the good work!
Well spoken TAK! Just discovered your content and it’s chilling how well your voice lends itself to the somber tragedy of the Ahriman and the many-sided-cube bois. Can’t wait to hear what you put out next

I like this video about what is essentially my favorite character in Warhammer. Everything from his design and story is great. Ahzek Ahriman is my favorite.
I absolutely love the story of Ahriman it makes him seem so human. I’m not a thousand sons guy but man I’m always rooting for him. I cannot believe that I’ve just stumbled apon your channel, it’s incredible and just the type of videos I love listening to while painting. Long videos for long paint jobs. Cannot wait to delve into this rabbit hole of new found lore!
I’ve always been a huge World Waters fan, martial factions were always a favorite but your renditions of the Thousand Sons and their story has capture my heart and made me such a fan of them.
Howdy fellow Ahirman fans... Like many of you, Ahriman is my fave warhammer 40K character by a large margin... I've read the Ahriman Triology (have the book with the extra stories in it) and 1000 Sons and Burning of Prospero, and the more recent one where they go to Terra to find that final shard.... But I've never read the (if there is on?) book about how the Rubric is actually triggered/executed. Is there such a novel, specifically about the casting of the Rubric? I would consider potentially ordering that one, even though I've largely sworn off 40K books now after finding the 'miss' ratio of 'hit or miss' far too high.
Big fan of other lore videos n video makers, so this is my first visit to your page and videos ,I wad not disappointed I'm really impressed n will look further into more of your lore videos ,bang up job mate

I've found myself looking forward to your videos. You've become my favourite 40k lore channel. Absolutely love the way you tell a story and the quality of your videos. Amazing stuff, keep it up.
Everyone say to me why I love ahriman.. is one of the best anti-hero that I ever saw. I literally saw is brother dying in front of his eyes, constant betrayed by his friends and even their primarch but still he want to save the legion and find a really cure to the gene-seed of the XV legion.
I really want Ahriman to succeed. I really do. I know it probably wont happen, but im holding out hope (foolish of me to in 40k) that Ahriman will succeed at defying Tzeentch in the end, even if it costs him his life. I want the 1000 sons to be reborn anew and be prosperous sorcerous-folk. Maybe if Ahriman got better at paradox-billiards-vostroyan-roulette-fourth-dimensional-chess-strip poker he could succeed
Great videos I just recently found your channel and I got to say hot stuff the quality is great everything is great but please don’t burn out I love your work but would like you to stay around
The Emperor. A Perpetual. A Psyker of unprecedented power. A man... at least 60,000 years old. And a man who seeks to become a god. Does that make him a greater fool than a man who seeks to simply defy a god? Or are there men that even the gods can be made to fear, Bruce Waynes to the Clark Kents?
See, I'm pretty sure the difference between Ahriman and Magnus is Magnus was arrogant, Ahriman was hopeful, and Tzeentch has just been twisting the efforts of both of them.
Of all of the Primarchs I understand why Magnus and his Thousand Sons turned to chaos and why even when given a chance to return to his father's Imperium why Magnus refused.
YAY what a pleasant surprise it was to see you had a new video posted!!! The only thing keeping you from being my favorite 40k channel is your huge gap between some videos. I know it takes a lot of time to make a video, and there's no need to post one a day or some crazy shit like that, but if you could at least get it down to 2 a month at the very least then I could easily see you surpassing most other channels (really everyone except Luentin). Obviously you do what you want. I'm just trying to motivate you for my own selfish reasons. I do think you're really missing out though, which is a shame because there isn't a whole ton of great lore channels that have a bunch of good info AND pleasant voice. And no Baldermont doesn't have a pleasent voice, he's a fucking mush mouth and I can't understand 90% of what he says so I stopped long ago

Nice, thankyou
XXX Books? At first I thought you were some kind of Slaneesh Cultist 🤣🤣🤣
Reading the dialogue between Vulcan and Magnus really settled who my favorite Traitor Primarch is.
A tragic tale to rival the Greeks of old..
Thank you Amber King!
*Magnus the Red and The Thousand Sons:*
Magnus the Red: Master of Prospero
The Crimson King
A Thousand Sons
Prospero Burns
The Ashes of Prospero
*Ahriman books in order:*
_(The "Ahriman: xxx" books are the main books)_
All is Dust
Ahriman: Exile (novel)
The Dead Oracle
Fortune’s Fool
Hounds of Wrath
The First Prince
Gates of Ruin
Ahriman: Sorcerer (novel)
Hand of Dust
King of Ashes
Ahriman: Unchanged (novel)
Key of Infinity*
A Coin for the Carrion Thieves*
Get the thousand sons epic on audio drama, 13 disks, it's unbelievable probably one of my favourites👌
After listening to prospero burns I hated the emperor and russ / space wolves... I turned to chaos 😂💜
Such a tragic story, the emperor is actually an arsehole
Same. His new video is also great
Yes, Cultist-Chan. I am doing my part for the Algorithmic Gods.
Ahzek Ahriman, for all his guilt, still carries the memories of his brother, even after the heresy,
Another fun little thing about the whole thing with Prospero in particular is, that it references Shakespeare.
Azhek Ahriman is one of my favorite characters! His novel series was great! Thank you for analyzing him and telling his story!
Just wanted to say your content has so much polish and technical skill in narration and pacing. I work at a dump literally and do sort e waste everyday for hours your stuff keeps me distracted rain or shine absolutely immersed! Thanks I really do mean it
That’s awesome brother, I often use the lore/podcast stuff to just lose myself. Any part of the lore you would like to see?
A bit late, and the question isn't directed at me, but I've just discovered your stuff and love it, great to listen to at work.
Would love to see a few different Eldar characters get a deep dive
Number of lives Ahriman took don’t compare to the countless the emperor took (pre-Horus) and keeps taking to keep him alive
To be fair, how many characters in 40k (that actually matter) have their hands clean of blood?
And what does that mean to you?
Thank you for you beautiful work
I'll never forger my first time reading a thousand sons. Magnus and Ahriman are favorites
Your reading of ‘Thousand Sons’ in my opinion, 1000x better than the audiobooks reading of the same part.
This was an incredible listen, you set the tone, music, atmosphere all perfectly. Great story telling mate 👍
This was great to watch and to listen to; the production value of your videos is great as is your narration, you honestly deserve a much greater audience and followship. Keep up the good work!
congrats on 10k subs dude, well deserved! high quality content on the coolest characters in 40k i can't wait for more!
Well spoken TAK! Just discovered your content and it’s chilling how well your voice lends itself to the somber tragedy of the Ahriman and the many-sided-cube bois. Can’t wait to hear what you put out next
These lore videos are now my daily grinding ritual whenever im grinding darksouls i pick one to put on
Great work I love these style of videos and I can’t wait for the alpha legion, alpharius and Omegon video soon. (My favorite legion)
Super good stuff man! thank you
This is the best lore video i have ever watched. Keep up!
YO LET'S GO! I'm glad to see you're picking up subs, you make some of the highest quality work in the 40k lore sphere. Perfect timing as well, just skinned up qnd ready for bed, thanks for the sweet dreams mate
Love the sythwave
This is why Ahriman is my favourite character in all of 40k
Ah, the Thousand Sons. My favorite tragic magic boys. I hope they get more unique units on tabletop soon.
The effort is clear to see. Loving it, please keep up the good work :)
I like this video about what is essentially my favorite character in Warhammer. Everything from his design and story is great. Ahzek Ahriman is my favorite.
Fantastic and captivating recounting of this peculiar figure's journey. Well done!
SO VERY WELL DONE!!!!
THANK YOU!!!
BRAVO!!!!
DO Iskandar Kayon next time you do a Thousand Sons or Black Legion Character.
I enjoyed this a lot, your chosen style of narration really works well and you write well.
You do fantastic work. Thank you for sharing this.
Probably my favorite character in the 40k Universe. A great example of the tragedy of the Imperium, the Heresy and the grim dark future.
Re listening this right after Argel Tal and man I have to say I love the tragedy in 40k.. The best of intentions often lead to heresy
Best 40k lore channel.
Absolutely love your lore videos man. The mood encapsulates everything I love about 40k.
I have a feeling that this channel will grow rapidly
Big fan of other lore videos n video makers, so this is my first visit to your page and videos ,I wad not disappointed I'm really impressed n will look further into more of your lore videos ,bang up job mate
Thank you brother, would highly recommend my more recent stuff!
Damn bro! You just keep getting better! Your work is like Cadillac level. Clean asf!
We need to spread this channel
Your content consistently leaves me speechless, I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers. You're better than luetin, and I fucking love luetin.
I've found myself looking forward to your videos. You've become my favourite 40k lore channel. Absolutely love the way you tell a story and the quality of your videos. Amazing stuff, keep it up.
Bro, just with that intro you got me hooked up, 10/10
Pretty cool! I enjoyed listening. Keep up the good work.
Let's go!!
Wow! What piece, really enjoyed that, loving the artwork used as well
Great job as usual, the sound was excellent, which is most important, from a certain point of view. 👌
Mr. King has done it again, folks.
Everyone say to me why I love ahriman.. is one of the best anti-hero that I ever saw. I literally saw is brother dying in front of his eyes, constant betrayed by his friends and even their primarch but still he want to save the legion and find a really cure to the gene-seed of the XV legion.
Instant like checking in.
Cheers Jack, always appreciate your support!
Just found your channel, this video was top notch! Just subscribed.
your videos are great dude! Really help pass the time at work. keep it up.
Awesome lore vid! I was completely immersed, fantastic stuff!
Great videos I just recently found your channel and I got to say hot stuff the quality is great everything is great but please don’t burn out I love your work but would like you to stay around
This has become one of my favorite pass times
The more I watch, the more I like. Superb work. Cheers from Poland.
Just found out about your channel and I have to say I'm disgusted...... That there are not more like you! Keep up the good work 👊✊💯
What a well put together video
Ahhh...yes...well done...mortal...you have...delivered on your...promise...
A rare sight to see...within your...kind...
Awesome vid! Now I am sure to get the Ahriman omnibus. Keep up the great work !
You killed it bro 🙌 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Cheers man!
See, I'm pretty sure the difference between Ahriman and Magnus is Magnus was arrogant, Ahriman was hopeful, and Tzeentch has just been twisting the efforts of both of them.
Incredible images and storytelling, great job !
YOU BECOME MY FAVORIT LORE CHANNEL!!!!
oooo what a treat.. a new(good) warhammer 40k youtuber.. this should hold me over between leutin videos.
Road to 10k! *LET'S GO!!!*
Akriman was talking with a blood raven librarian about all the blood raven's being from the thousands Son's but that just me
Love the intro music, sets the mood
Omg just in time on my walk with the dog
Of all of the Primarchs I understand why Magnus and his Thousand Sons turned to chaos and why even when given a chance to return to his father's Imperium why Magnus refused.
Great listen
your work is really well done,
Thank you!
New sub here, really enjoyed what I have seen so far, looking forward to more
Just found your channel im a binge probably every character video you got
Love the videos keep up the great work
Have to put this in here, but Erebus went off to intercept the warmaster's orders to Russ, from capture to completely annihilation
Just so good!!!!
Absolutely 💯 love the intro music to this video
Anyone remember the name of the daemon who helps azhek ahriman time travel in The Crimson King novel? It’s the one who eternally records the dead.
Wow! That was beautifully told.
Amber king just wanted to give you a shout out (lol idk) dig your stuff and have been a fan from the start.
Well done! Thank you very much!!
