Today's conversation is all about our emotions and my guest is Professor Marc Brackett, the founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. He's published over 100 research articles over the course of his career, and has dedicated his life to studying and teaching emotional literacy. Our emotions affect our creativity, learning and problem solving, but also our physical health and our mental health. Yet so many of us struggle to express and regulate our emotions.

This is great. There is now (here in the South, US) little stillness, reflection time & "being," out on a sagging porch after doing supper dishes, in a twilight active with insect & toad songs & good tree & lilac smells...to feel a darn thing but exhausted. Everyone indoors staring at a screen, refrigerated in the AC, windows shut & exterior surroundings a silent, floodlit, flatland chemical lawn, no wildlife or insect habitat. Deadness everywhere. After a half century, i recall an entirely different world deeper, full, & vertical with unspoken & unnameable feelings, memories & presences. But nothing was ever perfect in the material & interpersonal world, & we humans ran after material & mechanical comforts as a way to "feel" good, & now it's hard for all humans to recall how to be, how to love beauty, the soul, & other species, & how to feel.

Rangan, I have been really enjoying your podcast/CZcams videos. The one with Carol and David was my favorite! The quality of guests and conversations is awesome. I can feel the connection between you and the guest. The way you interview and engage with the guest is great to experience. I don’t normally comment, but I felt that I wanted to share that I can see your passion and commitment to your mission, and it is very much appreciated! Keep doing you!

Such an important topic. As a reflexologist I think its the only time my clients really are comfortable to say how they really feel and where that lands in their bodies too. So important!

Therapist told me I might be a little addicted to that. Accustomed to chaos while I reinventing the wheel each new day. Gut health, long walks and cbd were a good start to being more healthy.
