In this video Matt and Kevin show you how to build a cage to fit a C10 Chevy truck. We start with a custom fitting while the customer is in the C10 truck. To do this we used our template tools. Cutting and fitting the templates together to ensure the roll cage was going to fit around all the interior components and satisfy the customers requirements. Once the customer approves it is time to build the cage to the templates.
We start by cutting all the roll cage tubing to the length the templates indicate. Once done we mark where the bends will go and begin the bending process. Checking each bend as we go against the templates we built earlier.
Once the tubes for the roll cage are made we now have to attach them to the C1 truck floor. To do this we will need some floor plates. This is easy and with a little cardboard and some bending the floor plates are made.
Fitting the tubes in place is easy with our tube positioners. They hold the roll cage in place before any tack welds are applied. Once tack welded in place we continue this process till all the tubes are made.
For some tubes we needed to install joints in order to make the cage come apart. We also used a few different techniques for the tube coping. In some cases we used our DIY tube coping machine, and in other cases our Tube Tracer. We would follow up with a little trial and error test fitting.
The tabs for all the seat belt mounts where easy with our Universal Tab Positioner and our String Line Tool. We used the string line tool to help put all the tabs the same plain and be inline. The universal tab positioner held the tabs in place while we tack welded them. Once tack welded we could remove the tab positioner and finish welding everything.
To give the roll cage it's final touches. We painted and installed a name plate for the roll cage. These little touches made for a clean good looking finished product. The customer was very happy and so where we. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I gotta say this is one of my favorite new channels. The level of detail in your work is amazing. Understandably your overhead is less, but I personally think you should ask more for the skill and craftsmanship. $75-100 in my opinion. You are creating one off, fully custom products. Not to mention, enhancing the safety of these rides. Keep it up!
Wow, thank you! Really appreciate that comment. We think so as well. After the project was done $60 seamed a little to low. Live and learn I guess. The important thing is that the customer was very happy. That will pay dividends well into the future.
@@centurialinc for sure! You have a clear customer centric approach which is rare these days.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds Very true. Do you have any projects your working on?
@@centurialinc sadly no projects right now. Just started a new job that’s pulling me away from building the channel.
Very relatable. Took us 7 years to get to this point. Its hard. Keep at it.
So happy with how the cage turned out! The quality is amazing, and it’s exactly what I wanted
We loved this project and where very happy to do it for you. Lets plan a trip out to the car show when our LS swap is done.
Nice to see all the support in the comments! Great video! So nice to see what y’all have been doing all this time, since I do not come from this world.
Thanks man! It definitely is nice. Lots more to come happy you liked it.
Great video. Keep it up fellas. When’s the next one coming out!
Thank you! In a couple of weeks. When are you going to come down and help? Can always us another hand.
the level of detail of that cage is amazing!
Thank you. We love how it turned out.
Holy crap, this is exactly the type of template scheme i want to use on my car. Gonna have to order a kit!
We love them! Thank you for the nice comment.
these video is fantastic... keep them coming
Happy you liked it. More on the way.
Great Video!
Thank you more to come!
Very interesting and informative ! I have yet to try the templates I ordered but soon. Shop rate is very fair . Many thanks.
Thank you very much for the comment. happy you liked it. What project are you working on?
Hi; I am attempting to do an 8:50 cage for my 37 Chev coupe Gasser ( first time for a cage).@@centurialinc
We love to help. Send us an email over on our website. Or a text message to the phone number on the contact us page. Here's the link. www.centurialinc.com/contact
I love it! 🙌 great info and great work. I want a 4 point for my 75 squarebody. I would be interested if you were able to make it and ship it
Thank you very much! That's an interesting thought. For sure the type of interior you have matters A LOT! This cage build only had an 1/8 inch clearance in multiple locations. We aren't ready to make and ship cages right now but maybe next year we could try to tackle that.
Very good job. Love the tube tracers for making cages. What is the seat out of? Looks like it fits very well.
Thank you we love them. Those are the originals with some new leather.
Nice work, great video. Why did you use the bolt together sections on the diagonal braces below the seat? Also will this pass tech at any race events or just for show? I didn’t hear that discussed at all.
Hello. We wanted to make it easy to remove so we could paint it. And the issue was the floor. It was lower on the left and right sides of the car with a crest in the middle. The roof bar was so close to the roof that it was impossible to lift the sides of the roll cage up over the crest without it ramming into the roof. The truck is strictly a street build. Customer would only take it an autocross event at most and that is the only event that would pass this cage.
Nice work! Your shop rate seems a little low to me from the mindset of business and Labor costs. You mentioned "40 hours" was that "Man hours" or "Shop hours"? What part of the country are you located in? That makes a big difference also. All in all your work and prices are impressive! I'm looking forward to learning more from you guys.
Thank you very much. We are in Casa Grande AZ which is out side of Phoenix. So costs are lower. The 40 hrs is man hours at $30 an hour. We think we could go up to $100 per hour shop rate but after that it seams to high. That cage would have been $4k which is a lot considering its a 4 point cage. Now that dose include install, paint and any misc. needed to get it done like hardware. Lots more to come we are going to continue with the business side of things for a while people like that content and it's not very often talked about. Thanks for the comment and watching.
fab work $100 and up
Thank you. We agree after doing this project. anything less than $75 an hour is to low these days.
What are those quick disconnects called
If your talking about the ones welded to the cage. Those are roll cage bolt in joints. Google that and you will find all kinds.
How much to build one and ship it to me?
Hello. We are not offering the cage as a kit or a bolt in at the moment. If we get enough requests we will offer it. Best guess is $2500. What where you thinking for a price?
ΚΑΛΗΜΕΡΑ ΡΟΥΛΑ ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Buona giornata!
Your rate is way too low. $100/hr min with Bnomics. Not kidding. You're building custom-custom-custom. I'm about 8 hours N of you in BFE.
Dealerships are often over $200 in many parts of the country, but you can't really compare wrenching to custom fab.
Finally, if you bill every minute, then your rate is maybe ok. But if you look back and delete time for mistakes, etc then you need to bill higher.
Don't worry, soon you'll be so busy you'll have to raise prices. Trust me. The best way to limit business is increase pricing. At your current rate people will start abusing you. By charging more you filter out the low-end clientele and wind up with quality customers willing to truly pay for quality work. If people don't like it, they can buy their own space, benders, welders and everything else.
Thank you! Really appreciate that advice and we agree. That price did end up being too low in the end. So far we have 2-3 other projects lined up. They are more involved builds so we will see how things go and like you said if we get swamped we will have not choice but to up prices.
@centurialinc as your reputation builds (and it won't take long) start quoting jobs at prices that seem *almost* astronomical to you. I think you'll be surprised what people will pay. Again, you're ultimately after a customer base that cares about quality work first and price second.
I want it for my 84 where can I email you
Hello. We don't offer this as a kit. We only do custom builds and installs. If you are in Arizona we can definitely make it happen. Here is the contact us page on our website. www.centurialinc.com/contact
