There is apparently a children's cartoon adaptation of Final Fantasy IX in the works. There are also rumours that a FFIX remake is under development that will release alongside the TV show.

In terms of animation, the og Persona 4 Animation is super good and really respects the game. Not the P4 Golden one though. The dub is actually super hilarious, it's the game's cast and they're just having a blast saying some crazy lines.

The thing about Final Fantasy Spirits Within, is that it's a good movie, but it should have not been called Final Fantasy, it lacked a lot of the things that make a Final Fantasy. I think if it had only just been called Spirits Within, without the Final Fantasy moniker, it would have been better regarded and better received.
the one thing i remembered about the film all the years later - after 8 y/o was taken to see it at the theaters by my dad is that there was a guy named "Cid," & almost everyone but the main character dies. i also felt weird watching it because i couldn't tell if it was either live action through a strange rotoscope filter or just not-fully-rendered CG, LMAO.
a few years later, & my sister & i are trying to get a handle on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles wondering wtf a moogle is. 2010, i watch a let's play of FF6 & very quickly fall pretty madly in love with it from there.
Currently enjoying a lot of FF7 Rebirth streams. Feeling like doing a semi-blind stream of FF5 & maybe eventually tapping into FF14

Dragon Quest Adventure of Dai is one of the best battle manga of all time (according to battle manga fans, I’ve only read part of it), so it definitely can work. It’s the best video game adaptation I’ve seen. How can these guys not know that it exists?
I think that video games do have very good stories, it’s just in different ways than traditional stories.
The 2020 Adventure of Dai anime remake adaption is now on Netflix, well the first half of it, (maximum being 100 Episodes). It is one the best anime adaptions I have seen in a while, it's faithful, fantastic music, voice acting, action, excellent pacing, no filler, and is the complete story from the manga. It is original story based upon the Dragon Quest video games and is beginner friendly. In fact it was this series that made me a Dragon Quest fan.
@@EdgardoJCruz-dk5kv I only played Dragon Quest 3 before I read it. I have only seen the official manga chapters and it was really good. Also I have heard good things about the anime too. Toei doesn’t get enough credit because western anime fans only watch adaptations of manga from the past 20 years, which Toei does everything but, aside from One Piece

There was talks of a Live-Action Final Fantasy 14 TV show, but COVID happened and they stopped.
It's a shame, as FF14 is PERFECT for a tv show.
They could have shown the Invasion of Eorzea by the Garleans, the Fall of Ala Mhigo, the Rise of Scions, the Battle of Silvertear Lake, and so much more! It easily could have become a hit!
It would be much better to adapt FFXI in my opinion. It's another MMO full of interesting characters and a rich lore, but it's not as well known as FFXIV, so it would be good to see it in the spotlight.
They did in Netflix but more about the players of XIV 🙂

Final Fantasy could be easily adapted, since every game is a different story with it's own world and characters. So just create a new original one, but for streaming services.
An original fantasy series, but with Chocobos, summons, crystals, and Moogles.
Heavy rain, detroit become human, etc could be a netflix movie like Bandersnatch. In Bandersnatch it had viewer chosen story progression and endings.
They’d need a god-tier writer for the script adaptation, especially for DBH. David Cage’s racial allegories and plot beats are about as subtle as a plane crash.
I mean they’re already like movies rather than actual games…
Castlevania has a pretty good adaptation for a game with a very limited story.

Edgerunners isn't an adaptation of a video game. It's a prequel to the game story, told in a different medium.

@@thestupidfuncrisallstodios470 You definitely need to look up the definition of "adaptation", because you are wrong, factually. Nothing that happens in the game happens in the anime, therefore it literally isn't an adaptation. It's a prequel.
I played through Fantasian out of interest, since I am a big fan of Sakaguchi's previous Final Fantasy games. I do not play Mobile games at all, but goodness me Fantasian is excellent. 3D Dioramas for the backgrounds, inventive combat, which is very well thought out and not grindy. Also the Characters and story is pretty good as well. Really slept on game.
Seriously people sleep on mobile RPGs. The best version of Dragon Quest IV and V are on IOS and Android.
Oh Really? I will have to check those out, I played DQ1 and DQ3 last year to see what the series was about and Loved 3. Was shocked how hard it was to find the other ones, so will have to get on that.@@thomasffrench3639
@@OrangeJuiceJaz Yeah, the control scheme can be annoying, but touch screen works pretty well with JRPG combat. If you have big fingers, I'm not quite sure, but the mobile games are based off the DS versions.
Quick Breakdown: In Japan the DS remakes had party chat which is being able to see how the characters react to certain events. However, the English translation of DQ4 did not have Party Chat, which they added back in the mobile version. DQ5 is had Party Chat in the DS version, but that is super hard to get a hold of. I am personally going to get the DS version of DQ5 if I run into it for a reasonable price, but I at least recommend DQ4 on mobile.
So yeah if you are open to play it on mobile, I highly recommend it.
If some games could be transformed into live-action or animated movies/shows, I'm thinking of Indie Horror games like Little Nightmares, Fran Bow, or SCP Foundation. Idk why but these games, to me, would make a great horror movie or psychological horror movie

If anyone can remember Tales Of The Abyss, that had a decent anime adaptation... at least as far as I can remember. It was basically what got me super into the Tales franchise back in the day

Meanwhile I'm not even that knowledgable about most of the series, I just do my research to know every team behind each game.
(Can't remember the exact quote, but in one of previous episodes he mentioned the 7 remake stuff and Yoshi-P together, where the latter is not involved in anything 7)
And to back up Connor, I heard that the Spirits Within bomb is not exactly the reason Squaresoft and Enix merged, they were apparently already in the talks, it's just that the movie doing so bad kind of pushed the merge faster.
The movie Doing so bad is the reason the Xenogears sequel got cancelled and that will always be something I hate so much even if we got Xenosaga and Xenoblade out of it

Adaptations in a new format have to run a VERY fine line between adhering to the original source enough to appease the fanbase, whilst also ditching the things that don't work so well and adopting the things that will take advantage of the new medium. That line is so thin, that the production team has to get basically *everything* right, so its no wonder there are so many more failures than successes.

Final Fantasy 6 would make the perfect HBO TV show, it has such a huge opera kinda feeling to it, varied ensemble cast of interesting characters. My only hope would be that they wouldn't make it as grimdark as Game of Thrones!!!

Amongst the main line of Final Fantasy (the ones with numbers), I can see IV and VI being the best bet for a movie-live-action or 2D/3D animated. Unlike the more complicated stories like VII and onwards, these two are pretty solid yet straightforward epics. The main intrigue is the true origins of the main characters (Cecil Harvey of FF4, and Terra Branford of FF6), while the main drive of the storyline is overcoming oneself alongside the conflicts within their world. FF4 also branches out to Cecil's son which becomes a decent sequel to patch up the holes of the setting from the original plotline. The themes of both games also hold mature values that would be good for both kids and adults. A good movie saga would be FF8 or FF15, which holds stories that can branch out by featuring different characters as a main protagonist-all together, they would tell an epic storyline of adventure weaving the course of destiny as the usual theme of Final Fantasy.
A good anime series would have been the original FF15 which was Versus XIII, especially since FF15 itself released its short series already. Versus XIII would enable an original take which could tell an alternate reality under the same world as FF15, which also means a cleaner story with an already set premise. I personally think the story of Versus XIII would have been a great Romeo vs Juliet story (when Stella was the initial heroine rather than Lunafreya), especially since the fandom was robbed from seeing Lunafreya in leading action when Episode Luna was cancelled. FF14 is also a very worthy premise that could hold a good formula for a fantasy shounen, same with FF9 and also FF10. These three hold the cleaner stories but more complex than FF4 and FF6 due to how it features stories more than just being centered on the protagonist.
The best way to adapt FF, would be with an original story, happening in a world with crystals, summons, Chocobos, and Moogles.
@@Ukaran The problem is that kind of world will only be successfully applied if the producer/writer of the series/movies have played FF, and not just one game. Final Fantasy has a bit of a repetitive formula wherein you can find recurring themes in summons, class types, etc... but each game applies those ingredients differently. The storylines are best delivered through a game because the interactive dynamics allow the players to become immersed. To tell a totally different story while slapping on Final Fantasy ingredients would take very in-depth understanding of the formula and apply it in a tastefully original way, or else it would just look like a movie/series with a new story slapped with FF ingredients.
Furthermore, while an original and new story is a good thing, that is very hard to do when Final Fantasy pretty much covered all fantasy bases so far with the crystals/summons/creatures/etc... To create an entirely new FF story that would be successful as a series/movie adaptation, the producers need to be readily prepared to give out a very large budget without fearing its failure. Because the last time an original Final Fantasy movie was made that is not adapted from a game, it made a company go bankrupt. If they will adapt the fantasy elements from the games as well, that is gonna cost them even more.
As long as they dont make it a drama... god the crap that could be added to a XIII Verses series to 'Dramatise' it up.... forget a Romeo vs Juliet situation a drama would probably end up with A Kingdom, an Empire and a Republic switching between potential war and a stupid love triangle between Noct, and the half sisters Empires Luna and Republics Stella or some shit
@@MasterLittica The thing about the Versus XIII trailers I've watched is that Stella was the prototype Luna. She was still engaged to Noctis for a treaty but the difference is that their kingdoms are the ones directly at war for the crystals. In FF15, it was because Luna's kingdom was invaded by the enemy kingdom.
Stella and Noctis were directly engaged in battle, implied to be because of the fight to possess the crystals. I remember the awesome parallel of their magic circles being summoned against each other, and I thought it was neat how they have a hero and heroine being on equal level without a clear villain to defeat (at least in the trailers). There is always bound to be drama if you want a story driven by conflict and character development. Final Fantasy is also renowned for it in order to drive the themes of their games (such as self-discovery in FF6, death in FF7, love in FF8, and faith in FF10, etc...)

Honestly, the artstyle was cery off-putting to me.
Again, the video game technology has already caught up to present to you a cinematic experience, don’t need a live action adaptation, on it’s own it’s a player interactive experience and has more detail to get into and experience its world, unlike movie/series adaptation they would cut things out and only proceed to the next plot, making it a much less experience than the games. Don’t get me started with the casting.

Live action shows could work better. But you have way to many people who have put there own political nonsense in properties that has nothing to do with the ip. Totally messes with most people's enjoyment in them who are already fans of the ip. If they want to do that. They need get there own Ip made
I can see is now, somehow Disney gets hold of the rights to a FF14 Live Action Series, then the writers, directors and so on all come out to admit they have never played the game, dont like Fantasy as a genre and are going to fill it with modern world politics and whatever personal agenda they are into that week

I wish they’d stop trying to make live action versions of things that very obviously belong to animation. So many fantasy things just DO NOT work in live action and it makes everything turbo cringe. Fantasy stuff that trends towards sci fi like they mention mass effect, that’s whatever, but actual fantasy like final fantasy with crazy monsters and magic and talking dogs etc like that just doesn’t work.
As good as the one piece live action was, everyone is asking the question how is it going to hold up when the fantasy of the world gets turned up because it’s still quite low early on in the story. I don’t have high hopes because it was already a little bit borderline barely working.
