  • On 22nd of April 2022 we went to see a rail tour hauled by a double-heading pair of class 50s thunder through Reading West station. Whilst there we saw some other interesting locos, but sadly got "bowled" by another loco arriving at the same time as the 50s. Luckily we were still able to see and hear the engines and got lots of waves and horn toots from the various drivers we saw.
Thanks so much for tooting! The boys really love it.
    Locos in this video
    Turbo 165105
    Class 70 70020
    Class 50 50003 Thunderer
    Class 50 50034 Furious
Class 800 IET (sorry can't make out the number)

    Very Nice
Good job that 387 was a 4 car from Newbury - Reading to get out the way just in time before the 50s went by.

    50s! They sound like a mix of a 37 and a 40!

Yes that was all filmed in the space of about 30 minutes. We mainly went to see the two 50s, so everything else was a surprise. It was a good afternoon!

I wonder how frequently do these classic trains run? Because I've never seen them when I was living in Britain. I would love to see them in person, but I've never figured out where to find them.

There are several running every week in different parts of the country. We get our information from various websites. I look for the ones that are coming our way. This is one website I use a lot: www.railwayherald.com/railtours
