Lots of beautiful old southern mansions in Columbus. A REAL slice of the south for sure. Lived five years at nearby Ft. Benning many years ago and loved the area and the people.
Even the expensive homes don't have attached garages, so that makes a big difference in quality of life for buying groceries, with bad weather, etc. The neighborhood looks nice and big yards, etc, and the homes are pretty. These communities have character. Lawn maintenance, sprinkler system, tree trimming....there is a lot of work. Not sure why they don't have attached garages, as some of the homes look on the new side.
Houses the size of the larger homes on this video on large lots like that in Northern California would cost at least 800,000 in less desirable sub-regions well into the millions in most of the SF Bay area.
