- Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back!
Today I’m altering a baseball jersey my friend asked me to make smaller for him. He could only get it in the size XL but he really needed a medium.
Now, you’ll see that I didn’t really alter the entire thing because that would have meant taking all the pieces apart and making all of them smaller and it would not have addressed the neckline being too big since I can’t add fabric back to the opening.
Instead, I want to show you an easier way to make both the sleeves and the sides smaller so that it shrinks the overall circumference of the sleeves and the body of the shirt.
I hope you can put this technique to use making shirts and dresses smaller in a few easy steps!
And until next time, Stay Crafty!!
I needed this! Also need one for ladies pants, as I’ve lost weight all over. Thanks for your informative and easy to follow lessons.
You are a good friend. I buy "trade" shirts at thrift stores and this is how I trim mine up aswell.
Great plan!
You made that look so easy! Good job, the serger finished it off so nicely 🤙🏻
I don’t like to do a lot of serger projects because I know that not everyone has one. But I like to show its capability every once in a while. Thanks for the kind words!

I don’t have a serger, so glad you showed how it worked as I didn’t know it cut off the extra fabric 👍🏻
Hello Tim, I just found your channel, and I’m so glad I did. I subscribed, of course. Thank you for putting out good stuff!!
Brilliant fast alteration of a top.
Thanks for sharing with us again.
❤🙂👀thanks from Chicago.
I love Chicago! Thanks for watching.
Love your setup. You did a great job on the shirt.
Thank you!
I was hoping you would show it on your friend. that was perfect. My husband just lost a lot of weight and I'm going to try this today!! thanks so much.
Watch it again. He shows the shirt on his friend at the 20:53 mark.
@@anndalynnketellapper8296 thanks, I worded the wrong. I meant I hoped he would show it on his friend (and left off and you did!!)
Good video Tim…Clean your serger!!! Naughty!! 😅
I always clean at the end of the day. I had already done a small project first. But thanks for the reminder.
What would i do without a surger?
You can run a zigzag stitch over the raw edges.
Why is the shirt cut down the middle? I thought this was for alterating a tshirt.
It’s a baseball jersey. But you can certainly use the exact same technique to alter a tshirt.
