His voice was so damn good during the mid 90s. Thats what makes NOLA and the "Trendkill" album so amazing, because he could hit every note like a beast and sing.
yes
you are so right
You nailed that comment
whit down album was he peak in voice
@@edybocman76 Yep, absolutely, Nola. Hands down. In my opinion, some of the best metal vocals ever recorded.

Phil’s one of the GOATs. Takes any lineup of musicians from a 6 out of 10 to a solid 9 in his prime. Just tragic that he didn’t take care of himself. Ironically, it’s his love of music and his desire not to let anyone down that ruined him. The one and only reason Phil didn’t get his back surgery when he needed it was that most of the Far Beyond Driven tour would’ve ended up getting cancelled for the recovery period. That could’ve spelled the end of Pantera right there. The truth is, Phil was Pantera. He took them out of the horrible glam era to what we all know them for. Go listen to Rebel Meets Rebel if you think Pantera would’ve been fine without Phil and you’ll see...
Or Damageplan :P
Exactly
Even Damageplan was a shit album/band. The Abbotts needed Anselmo more, than he needed them. Without him and his monstrous influence and stage performances they would have converted into a musically talented, but stupid kind of KISS/Ted Nugent rock band.
@@martynilsson4731 new found power is a good album, very good album BUT all the rest you said, is true, fuckin true... Phil did it for them
That's what gets to me when people say Phil killed Pantera. He gave Pantera life. If it wasn't for Phil, no one outside Texas would know who Vince and Dime were. Yeah, he behaved badly on drugs and has done some stupid shit over the year, but if it was all Phil's fault, why did Rex stick with him... there is alot more to the demise of Pantera than Phil's behaviour. We don't know the full story
Thank you sooo much, to whom ever recorded this. Incredible footage, for it's time. I was fortunate enough to catch 'em on this tour, in Shreveport. At what was, then called, Daz Warehouse. I was just a kid, but it was somewhat of a life changer, fo me. To this day, one of the most incredible shows I have ever been to. The energy was indescribable. A killer local band called, Ceed, opened the show. For those of us that lived there, it was a much needed, sorta consolation, after getting fucked out of seeing Pantera (stupid shit with the fire marshall, led to the, basically, forced cancellation) & mother fuckers were so enraged, that there was a small scale riot, outside the Hirsch Memorial Colosseum. It even made the MTV news. For anyone that remembers that era of MTV, when they'd spin through a bunch of clips, as Dave Ellefson's bass line (Peace Sells) played through..theres a quick shot of someone punching a cop horse in the neck...that was from that night. Sorry for the extremely long comment, but this shit has all sorts of nostalgia for me. Absolutely unforgettable night. If I remember right, they only did like 13 shows on this tour & I feel like they did the Shreveport date, at least partly, to make up for us getting fucked outta Pantera. Either way, it was pure fucking magic.
That’s awesome. I remember the riot you’re talking about. I was only like 14 so I wasn’t there, but I remember reading about it in Metal Maniacs or RIP or something like that.
What a dynamic band they were at that time... Every bit as captivating as Pantera. The first time I saw Down was in 2007 but I would fucking kill to have been at this show or any Down show of this era for that matter!
Incredible show! The best DOWN of all time. Cheers!
That outro with Bury Me In Smoke going into Symptom of the Universe!!!
Fuck I love Down. They are so young and hungry in this video.
Dude Pepper was a fucking beast on stage
Still is. But I think he’s better now. He’s filled out and looks pretty good for his age.
Desde España k bueno encontrar conciertos antiguos en CZcams, colgad más si los tenéis,aki los veremos, Anselmo The metal god for ever
Wow! Thanks for the up! What a voice, what a band. I've been a fan of this since the release and just now finally digging Saint Vitus, black flag ,and Celtic frost in 2021.That low end from Bower and Phil's t shirts pointed the way too.
Damn I love watching Pepper play.
play this at my funeral.
Down was seriously ahead of their time. As far as Pantera goes. Phil is just as essential as the rest of them. Without the brothers and Rex, Phil would have never had the hardest hitting band in history . I’m not taking anything away from Phil and his influence. But to say Phil was Pantera is a little bit ignorant imo.
Love that trucker hat Phil sports.
PhilCore fashion line lol
The flag stays !!!!
DOWN. Southern Sons of smoke
you deserve a fucking award for posting this great shit here.
Thank you so much, pure golden stuff!
Badass PANTERA RULES !
Killer shit. God damn
Thanks for uploading the video!
That saint vitus cover of ice monkeys is fuckin bad ass
I'm sure alot of people will agree but there's so many videos of Phil performing where he's obviously loaded or high on that shit but he fuckin kicks ass on stage and then there's several videos where I feel second hand embarrassment for how loaded he was. really glad he's sober these days and turned it around for good
Absolutely Fucking Killer!!!
thank you!!
Phil politely puts his hat down. Haha. Such manners.
Bridge of Sighs. F'ing badass.

Well fortunately i goin go back in time and see all the live shit I would have murdered someone to have see live right here on youtube! CZcams is a fuckin time machine if you think about, badass very gratefull for that though!!👹🎃💉💊 I Love Drug Metal
They played Jail when the guy was knocked out lol
kirk using charvel model 1
Idk if it’s my playback or what, but does the video look like it’s about 7-10% too fast? The songs sound fast, but the head-banging and stage antics looks like a silent movie from the 1920’s.
