Peterson is back to the level he was at before he got sick. The enthusiasm, the body language, the flow etc
He didn't get sick. He was a closet valium addict pretending to be a messiah for young boys before his addiction completely ruined his life and he had to come out as a phony. It wasn't a flu hahahahaha
He is doing great, and I know from experience, the difficulty to intellectualize and communicate while your brain is healing from benzo withdrawal, is absolutely terrifying and so hard. I can hear it in his voice, I absolutely respect this man for having the courage to build himself back up, because it absolutely feels like a swimming through a sea of anxiety and fear.
Before he got sick? He's addict and partier.

“Someone who is narcissistic wants unearned social status.” He summed it up so perfectly and concisely.
@@QED_
I think he says “unearned” to clarify that you are not a narcissist if you think highly of your own high achievements.
@QED996 right but narcissists want the extra, I have all the achievements so why aren't you listening to me about something totally unrelated.
That clip of Crowder arguing with his wife, is he an accomplished broadcaster and millionaire, absolutely, but doesn't mean he's lord of the car keys. He has status as the bread winner, but that domineering bit is the unearned extra.
@@QED_ It's not about being a high achiever it's about wanting unearned social status. That doesn't mean the person is bottom of the barrel.

I loved this conversation. I like the fact that when they didn't agree they didn't vilify the other person. This is what is missing in media on a larger scale.

I’ll echo what many others here said - this was Bill’s best episode to date. Their thoughts on religion and relationships run completely counter to one another’s, yet they both engaged in the conversation and listened to each other. Made for a great listen.
Society could learn from these 2 on how to conduct yourself if you want to get your point across , which will never happen .

One thing that Jordan does in interview is brilliant. When he is about to make an extended point, he will say something like "..and you can tell me what you make of this..." That makes the other person sit back and listen harder, and tend to not interrupt because they want to look insightul in their reply. I need to do that more.
It's genius, but it's done so naturally that it took your comment for me to really appreciate its simple potential. 🙂
Now, what are your thoughts about the impending global takeover by penguins, and their inevitable enslavement of humanity, and felines...

Jordan's basically framing it as a question not a statement, making the conversation about what Bill thinks not what Jordan thinks. Keeps the person far more involved and comfortable.
It’s actually a REALLY bad habit Dr Peterson has. When he says “and you can tell what you think of this” it’s him showing self consciousness about the fact that he knows he should ask a question or stop talking.
He’s self aware enough to know he’s being a bad conversationist, but he doesn’t have the humility self control to actually stop.
He does the exact same thing as a host, and there are entire episodes where he just steamrolls kind, interesting, guests who his audience, like myself, would love to hear!

I never got on heroin, but I was addicted to oxy. I'm stuck on subs now which sucks, but it has allowed me to have a regular life where I don't even consider going back to oxy or dope at all.
If you don't know there is a forum called benzo buddies and some of the withdrawal reports are shocking. Benzos are clearly the most addictive drug and you can just fall into addiction without even realising it.
Two of my favourite people!!! What a great conversation!!
A very informative conversation. I couldn't stop watching it.
Dr. Peterson gave Bill a therapy session and he didn’t know it. Lol. Despite these two having different viewpoints on 75% of issues, Bill opened up more with the good Doctor than most of his guests. Very good show.
It's your perogative to look at it that way...But God, I certainly don't...A good conversation is simply a good conversation, and someone simply being more open can simply be quite nice, not a "therapy session".
@@serpentines6356 I think it kinda was therapy on a way as bill was learning things about him self and other people. It's not a bad thing at all. I too agree that his temperament is very nice as well as his openness. When you think about it a therapist goes through therapy just by learning to be a therapist. Everyone has faults so the best therapists are the ones who take their training personally in the most positive way. We're all just people relying on others at the end of the day.
@@serpentines6356 I don't agree: a good conversation is always therapeutic whether intended or not
@@serpentines6356talking to someone without being judged or looked down on IS therapy nowadays.
@@reneomarsantanalol your disagreement sounds suspiciously like agreement? Intention is not necessary to be therapy is my point.
The fact this went for nearly two hours shows how invested Bill Maher was in the conversation. These two should do a limited series of podcast conversations. They could achieve so much with their respective audiences.
if you go follow Jordan his podcast, you will be very happy (i think?) to see how many 'diamonds' of conversations he has there.
X 2
I agree, I would listen to them for hours. There should be plenty of overlap between their respective audiences. I, for one, follow both of them. It shouldn't come as a surprise if there was a big overlap considering they are both moderate, reasonable people who simply don`t shy away from the truth, much like most of society for that matter.
old men do tend to ramble on...and on. and on. and on.

Thank you Bill Maher
and Dr. Jordan Peterson
for enlightening all of us!
God bless you.

So glad J Peterson is back, sharper than ever and is a relief to the insanity.
Happy to see he’s healthy and well.

@@aWomanFreedthe guy was going through a severe benzodiazepine withdrawal awhile back.
@@aWomanFreed Probably should have googled this, but im lazy, I believe he was withdrawing from Klonopin (clonazepam) daily use presumably for anxiety/sleep, pretty sure he did/does not have a seizure disorder, and after an extended period of time of use sometime after cessation he got so bad he wound up taking a trip to like Russia or someplace where they will put someone into a medical coma to basically get one through the withdrawal period. Serious stuff, probably should verify it.
Loved when Peterson was starting to crack what’s at the psychological root of Bill’s obviously obsessive, eternal, “single guy” persona and just as Peterson had him on the couch Bill shouts, “Wait, don’t treat me like a science experiment.” Lol
@kurtmcvey7086 I’m wondering if Bill never married and had children because he could not imagine a way to pull off how he believes it should be done. (?). He certainly seems to have some good instincts about how children should be raised.
Nothing slips past JBP 🧐
I wish he got to the bottom of why Bill was wearing that shirt

Props to Bill for actually letting his guest speak

Glad to see who Bill Maher really is. As a centrist, who is a big fan of Jordan Peterson and the deep insights he’s shared in his career, I am definitely here for this conversation and respect Bill more than ever.
Classic liberals and conservatives are pretty close to centrist as it is.. Not anymore though.
It’s the long form conversation that lets that show. On his 30 minute show he has to push an agenda the whole time just to keep the show on track.

I laughed out loud listening to these two. I hope not one person missed Peterson saying "slaying it."
Long live Jordan Peterson! - one of the only people that causes my brain to grow every time I listen to him.
I am in my 70's, and much of the same wisdom that comes from JP was related to me by my teachers in the 50's and 60's. From what I read of schools and the teachers of today, it explains one major factor contributing to the deconstruction of our once civil society.
I feel happy that doing tough unsexy stuff with my Mrs. actually makes my love for her so much deeper. It was like a butchers floor down there.
that is your problem
Alan Watts, CG Jung, Joe Campbell... Lots of influencers who have died are still influencers.
Yeah, it's probably a tumor...
You must have two honest people who actually have a goal that mostly overlaps to get this sort of honest conversation. This is a fine example of that.
Both Bill and Jordan are two
of my faves. Great to hear you guys and see you together. What a great conversation . I would like to hear there conversation now with what’s happening in Israel
I absolutely love this! Jordan is wearing a three-piece suit, citing scientific research, asking deep question while Bill is smoking, drinking, swearing and making jokes lol. Absolutely hilarious, could watch it all day. So happy to have discovered these two, both by themselves and together. And what an incredible man Jordan Peterson is. The stories about his wife and their relationship are simply adorable, you really can't make it up. Thank you for this amazing conversation!
I am pretty sure that the best way for me to interact is individual to individual and as if they are part of the process by which things we don't understand can yet be explored and by things that aren't properly organized in our society can yet be set right and free speech also is the mechanism by which we generate the conceptions that allow us to organize our experience in the world, it is the mechanism that allows us to reformulate and criticize those conceptions when they become outdated and sterile, to reanimate them in a new form so we can move into the future. [Do you agree?]

He actually makes Jordan the most comfortable I've ever seen him...
Love this episode
At one point he even smiled
Well for once he wasnt constantly being under attack so it's always more pleasant to discuss with someone that doesnt want to rip your neck off just for their divergent opinions. I don't really like Maher personaly, for many reasons, but you can see that his age allows him to be more relax and chill toward decent human conversations, compared to all these hag Peterson had to face off in interviews that were already wired to undermine his person and expertise. I'm clearly not a 100% behind Peterson's views, some things regarding him doesn't fit my personal moral compass, but at least he speaks common sense most of the time.
@@JeffreyBezeau so what you're saying is....
This was the most sane conversation iv heard in a long time. Extremely refreshing for me .
I like the part of the conversation about the addiction to social media and the cell phone and how that has polarized society. We need to put our phones down, read more, and spend more time in nature.
2 points made by Jordan Peterson that were revelations to me. 1. Tyranny comes when most people are willing to lie to stick with the approved narrative. 2. It only takes a very few brave souls who tell the truth to save a society..
those are ancient points
Revelations ! Thought that was common knowledge.
I dont know about the last one. Usually in the past, few brave ones had their heads on a guillotine.
the few brave souls are usually the ones that we assassinate, while we let the scumbags just keep on going.
@@VOX_Games right it takes a lot to stick out your head from the herd and when you do that you got picked by the predator so people keep their damn heads low ,,,, but not always ,see it depends on the circumstance , the quality of that few braves and their organization and wit ,
for exemple here in Algeria back in the 1950s our revolution was led by only thousands of people from middle class but who were cultivated and brave and strategic , they picked a celebration night when there were fireworks and when France soldiers where distracted , to launch the operation so the loud sound would camouflage the sound of their bullets signals , and France soldiers were dispersed and disarmed , and they also used the rocky rugged high mountains with lots of vegetations of the barbaric amazigh regions as places to hide for they knew em by heart while France soldiers struggled to find their ways and usually end up trapped in somewhere and disarmed , and thats how power balance distabilised
What I love about Bill Maher is that he has the balls to invite people that have different point of views from him and have a decent conversation.
As trivial as that sounds, we rarely see this in today’s corporate media… No wonder I’m a huge fan!

Well done, this is a beautiful display of respectfully sharing knowledge with out allowing personal emotions to dictate the story. I want to highlight this Bill, despite your emotions and view point on the Bible, your respect for Jordan allowed for information to be shared and reflected on. Jordon, your insight to peoples responses and positioning yourself with such skill when sharing is amazing to watch. I have watched so many debates on different topics and its sad that the goal of the debate is seen as a competition of who's best rather then growing in collaboration :)
You don't have to be completely alike to have a great conversation and to get along with one another. I love this.

Always good to have a theocrat on the show
this is a very well-balanced conversation where there are points of agreement and points of disagreement. interestingly, Bill can be very subtle at times when he disagrees with someone, and then suddenly state an opposite point of view with profound insight.
Never been more excited for a Club Random episode and I wasn't a bit disappointed, it even went better than I expected.
Jordan Peterson even broke Bill's wall a bit. Bill went from laughing at the Sodom and Gomorrah analogy to being mind-blown. Peterson has a way of breaking down archetypes and making them so relatable to the present day.
Not sure it's an analogy. Idk... I watch the archaeological CZcams videos on Sodom and Gomorrah - the cities of the plains near the Dead Sea in Israel. There are dozens of them. They will make you think
@@Graacee11111 I'm not saying the story itself is an analogy. I mean Jordan Peterson used it in this context as one. Like, 'forget about the struggle of how factual this is, or isn't, and use it in this way'. That's where I'm coming from.
The reason why Jordan Peterson always breaks down everything into the tidy bits of understanding, is because he goes out of his way to portray himself in such behavior.
We fail to understand that the only way you or I can understand how people function as a collective and individual, is analyzing our own conducts and behaviors in life and owning such episodes, so that we don’t get stuck in them.
We all have behaved in one moment or another, or for a day or two, in any of the personality traits he described…unfortunately not everybody is willing to break their own ego and humble themselves to accept it, express it, and deal with it, like he says, for so many people it’s just easier to stay that way and that’s when they become definitely one of those archetypes.
@@Ch7oma I hear ya, I never, EVER would've thought I'd see Bill take someone's interpretation of a Biblical story seriously, but it's right in front of us here. I watched the entire series of Peterson breaking down the stories of Genesis several years ago, and I don't really care how right he got the message from the original authors, because there's a whole array of lessons/morals-of-the-story/etc that he describes which are perfectly applicable to anyone living in the 21st century
Yes! It's nice to see the bible studied like the mythology that it is, rather than like the nut job evangelicals who take it literally.
