It's amazing watching these older shows with Phil ripped out of his mind . Yet still delivers a top level caliber performance. It makes me realize how much better he would have been if he was clean. Even though he's better than everyone else wasted.
I was front row on the barricade over by Peppers side of the stage for this. I almost passed out from doing too much partying and being dehydrated. I remember one of the amps catching fire.
This is why metal is real. Phil doesn't just engage an audience. He commands their fucking attention. It's a real interaction, down to immediately smoking the joint somebody threw onstage. Drunk, stoned, smacked out, whatever. But it's real and it's passionate and powerful.
the real leader is kirk , he play well and dont' miss a note , obeserve and listen , the rest of the band make error and don't remenber the part of the song, the part of the music follow mr Kirk Windstein , Phil is the frontman ok the soul of the band but not only , the energy start to his esibition, the eyes of the people are concentrated to the star, not to the hardworker, the same story for ozzy , visto che siamo in tema

Sucks they had to break up and Dime had to be murdered. But I think Phil's side projects are all great and NOLA is the best album he ever made. And yes DOWN II is underrated, hard to believe it came out during the Superjoint era.

He drank barqs root beer allllll weekend. I'm pretty sure he either quit drinking after the dimebash thing, or cut way back. I mean what do I know, he could just not drink in the public eye. I just wanted to give my 2 cents, I think he just smokes these days. 🤘🏼

I don't think Phil's heart abd soul was really belonging in the Pantera camp. Even though it worked he is way more different than the Abbott brothers. I truly believe that projects like this and Superjoint is where he belongs
Dissagree bro to an extent i think the band (Pantera) needed a much needed break to refresh the horns and go again whether it meant going to side projects etc it was just unfortinate what happened in the lead up to dimes passing that, that all went out the window.
Guys I love Phil and am a huge fan, but idk what y’all are hearing. He sounds like garbage here. Just listen to how he butchered the final singing part of Eyes of the South. He doesn’t even hit the note. I get it, he was in a dark place here but still, this is by no means the best era of DOWN. He sounds better today than he does in this video.
