- Fighting games can chronicle the adventures of families. We’ve covered both moms and dads in the past, but what about the siblings, the grandparents, the aunts, uncles, and everyone else from the family tree? Well, we decided to combine all those ideas into one by covering some of the most prominent and interesting families playable in fighting games. Even if we’ve only seen 2 or 3 playable members, there are a lot of stories to tell with just a couple of playable family fighters. Some of them get along, while others are dysfunctional. And since this is a family-related list, it wouldn’t be complete without my Mom cohosting.

THANK YOU for mentioning Patroklos' personality flaws. Pyrrha's at least made some sense and I felt genuine sympathy for her. Patroklos murdered innocent people and didn't seem to feel bad about it. What a hero.
An idiot and an asshole. In fact he is one of the most hated character in the saga, Astaroth is evil too for example, but he know he is and he doesn't hide it or search excuse for his bad actions.
You forgot that there is a family from Dead or Alive series whose family members include Kasumi, Ayane, Hayate, Raidou, Hayabusa.

Hayabusa is not blood related. He is just a fellow clan member. The ones with blood relations are Hayate, Kasumi, Ayane, Honoka and Raidou.
Hayate and Kasumi are siblings.
Ayane is their half sister because Raidou raped their mother.
Honoka is Ayane's half sister because Raidou raped Honoka's mother, making Honoka a distant cousin to Hayate and Kasumi.

Some families have really great bonds while some others are seriously dysfunctional. Looking at you, Mishimas.

I think Heidern and Leona deserves a brief mention in this list.
Sure, Heidern is Leona's adopting father but in my opinion he is actually a really good father.
One of the best in KOF.
He adopted the little orphan and train her to become a mercenary so she could defend herself and Leona really respect and admires him.
If you know about Leona, you know how tragic is her past.
Heidern is a great pillar for her.
I love their special intro in KOF 2001
I would like to see Leona calling 'father' to Heidern instead of always Commander.

I was kinda hoping the Williams family from Tekken (Nina, Anna and by extension Steve) would be an honorable mention, but great list nonetheless! :)
If we do get a darkstalkers 4 , we should have Anita be a playable character along with Donovan (of course). Anita might’ve learnt some martial arts from someone during the timeskip by some entity to keep her dad from losing control.
I thought the Kim Family would have been the featured SNK family, but no worries. I understand the "one per series of origin" rule, but I'd have rather seen the Kims than the Cages. That's just me, though. Another great video, BTW.

Here's an interesting idea for Valentine's day, Top 10 Franchises that could make a Dating Sim Sping-Off. I would personally suggest Yugioh and Digimon. Yugioh mostly taking place in the Monster World or in the Duel Academy similar to the Tag-Force games. Digimon on the other side has a lot of demographics to cover, if you want to date an angel, a frog, a devil, a half devil and angel, a rose, etc. this is the game, after all, there have been a lot of weird dating sim around so this fits a lot of categories.

Well, according to the endings and XIII pre-fight dialogues, Saisyu self-exiled only temporarily
He went to train Shingo after 2001 and by XIII he seems to chill with Takuma from time to time. Also in XIV it was Saisyu who told Kyo to reunite Team Japan and join KoF

I wouldn't call it a betrayal. Rock wanted to understand his origins and find his mother. Terry seemed to understand, so they separated on good terms

And here I thought the Darkstalker family to be represented would be Morrigan and Lilith, but I guess since they’re more or less the same person, it doesn’t quite count? Still, awesome to showcase such an unconventional family dynamic in such an underrated series. Thanks for the Darkstalkers love.
Donovan’s Nightwarriors ending may be more canon than most since he has a secret appearance in the Japanese PS2 game Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection as Dee, who is Donovan consumed by his evil blood. There’s even a final battle of sorts between him and a grown up Anita, with the ending having her stand by his grave. Such a tragic arc that hopefully will be made official canon someday with a new Darkstalkers.
I was thinking about mentioning Dee and the evil Donovan, but since the video was getting long and I never played that version of Darkstlakers, I left it off and alluded to it at the end. Still, it's a good point to bring up. I was initially going to put Morrigan and Lilith on the list, but most of their dynamic involves not knowing who each other are, so it feel like as much of a family relationship as other characters. Glad you enjoyed the video!

What about the Joestars from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure? You know, the 2D fighting game based on the anime?
While I love JoJo's, when the criteria for the fighting game list are mostly backstory-based, like these lists on family members, I limit it to characters that originated in fighting games since a lot of the backstories of anime or comic characters are from other media outside the fighting gives them a bigger advantage over the limit backstories of fighting games character. However, I do include characters outside of fighting games on all other fighting game lists, like ones on character archetypes or fighting styles since those lists are most dependent on how characters are portrayed in their movesets and appearances in battle, which is why Joseph made it on our Senior Citizens in Fighting Games video or why Avdol was eligible for our Pyromancers in Fighting Games list.

About Yun and Yang, even after all these years, I'm still coming to terms to the fact that in Street Fighter 4, they got Natsu, Jaco, Jadeite, Shiro, Ling, Raki and Allen to voice Yun and Yu, Lelouch, Vash, Ichigo, Sasori, Johnathan and Giyu to voice Yang.

The only good part of the Mishima Family was the bond between Kazuya and Jinpachi...until Tekken 5 when they made Kazuya Full Blown 2D villain and he killed his Grandfather with no remorse. Oh and Jun is confirmed missing. Not dead.

I actually didn't know they were related, so I'd count it. Ken's family is pretty great and always intrigue me when they show up in arcade mode endings and having them linked with Guile just gives us even more the discuss, so I like it!

Another very complicated family in blazblue is Ragna's: his siblings are Jin,Saya,Noel,Nu,Lambda, and through technicality Izanami Jin hates most of his sisters has tried to kill them and Ragna more than once, all of the sisters except Izanami were all originally weapons of destruction, Ragna has a part of and is the black beast that tried to destroy the world hundreds of years ago, and for half of the series Jin was mind controlled and manipulated into killing multiple people

If you want to do more families in fighting list please consider Leona and Heidern (Daughter and Father) KoF or maybe Tina and Bass (Daughter and Father) DoA or if you're going the distance Megaman and Protoman (Brothers) from Megaman Power Fighters.
