I think you are going to do well on CZcams. You speak normally with a great conversational flow, you explain what and why you are doing the next step and you show how and what product being used. From my perspective, these are all the right ingredients for success! Good luck. I subscribed!

Wow I'm totatlly amazed on how the end product looked. Great job! Im planning to paint my laminate tv stand, can I use kilz multipurpose primer and some behr 2 in 1 water based paint? Thanks in advance!
Piece looks great! I love MCM furniture and watching before and afters.
To make life easier for yourself next time - try anything other than Behr. Tried to paint trim and was planning to use on cabinets several years ago, worst paint I've ever used in my life!
Also, I only use artist quality brushes for furniture and cabinets. The kind with bright white bristles - very inexpensive at Hobby Lobby. Contractor grade brushes usually have such thick bristles every stroke shows. First time I used artist grade- the paint went on so smoothly, not one stroke showed. The actual woodgrain was still visible. Everyone thought I had sprayed the paint on - and I never even touched the paint with sandpaper.
Thanks! And I will have many before and afters this year!
Also nice tips I will certainly consider them for my next projects :) I have had good and bad experiences with Behr, their white paint is bad lol
Good Job !
Very nice
Just found this. Very nice.
It looks lovely & like it would be very expensive to buy like that.
Looks great - just a question - how come you use spray lacquer instead of brush on? Thanks!
perfect
thank you!!
I remember mid century so well, my Era.
A Sterling job, love it!
I bought an oak unit with separate upper, including fold down 'cocktail cabinet' for £20. Taken off drop down door and side doors. I don't like dense carving on lower cabinet side door or 4 drawers, flipping them inside out. Painting it black.
Have a couple of rolls of small print wallpaper from late 60's or might paint back of upper cabinet. Not sure.
Curtains are geometric, quite retro, background ivory, pattern teal, lime, orange, suggestion would be welcome.
Got no furniture from divorce, by chance bought almost identical plain teak table and chairs (I bought original table 1/1970, original table ended up in my garage 4 years ago, given to son and his fiance, who had no had it's mine! UK maker, G Plan.) intend to sand top as marked, might do legs slate, chair legs too, seats, one of colours from Curtains?
I would love if you could give a suggestion of colour for chairs. Only other chair in living room is wingback in light terracotta.
Cat scratched my leather chairs too badly to save.
As she's over 20...1 will do at the moment.
honestly I am not the best at picking colors! I usually jump on Pinterest and get creative from seeing various projects on there!
Very nice end result...
thanks Danny!
Really nice ..
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
thank you!!
That was very nice
Thank you so much!
Good job !
thanks!!
Hello what did u use in your final paint spray ? Thanks
Could I paint a wood bed from plain to grey with this technique?
What mask are you using while sanding and priming? And is it reusable? Thank you! Great job on your project 😇
Nice....
It came out really really nice! I LOVE the color scheme. I’ve seen in other videos where it really isn’t necessary to prime over laminate, because oils and so forth don’t really pull through laminate. Plus it reduces the “thick” painted look. Just an FYI for future laminate projects. You really did an amazing job on this one though. I’m used to using Chalk paint. It’s thicker than a regular satin paint. I’m going to try just using regular paint for my next few projects. Thanks fir sharing your videos! I really enjoy watching you. 😁👍🏻
highly recommend a primer for laminate to adhere better to the surface. I would use BIN shellac, it is not to prevent bleeds but more so to hold on and not peel off. Paint is more likely to come off if directly applied to the laminate. Thanks for watching!
@@FurnitureFlippa ah!! Thanks for the info! I will definitely use primer for everything, more than likely. 😁
Excellent job! How can you paint furniture with plain latex paint and get a beautiful piece! I subscribed great info !!! 😀
So after a year how did the kilz hold up? All the videos I've watched say not to use water based because it scratches & chips off.
How long between spraying the spray on top four times ?
Have you ever tried the brush on laquer finish?
Is this latex paint the same thats used on walls ?!
Just wondering, why not also use the roller with the top coat?
What grit did you use for the top?
Do you use latex paint or cabinet furniture paint?? Thank you
Can’t find the paint.. anyone have any ideas as to where I can purchase this paint plz
Wow, it’s absolutely beautiful. I couldn’t skip forward, applying that white was mesmerizing.... If you don’t mind me asking, what state are you in, probably not California, right? 💕 Love the black & white, good choice 👍
Thanks! :) I actually live in Canada!
How long did you let the primer dry?
I have the matching dresser for this piece. I bought it at a furniture thrift store and it is in my living room as my tv stand. It is a huge piece with 9 drawers. I bought it to refinish, but I decided to keep it as is at least for now.
Which paint did you use?
I watched your channel for the first time, I wanted to know if it is possible to refinish my bedroom set from beige to white, my problem is that the bottom of the drawers are warped, can this be fixed? Thank you. Marie
Yes, you can go from beige to white. Having a good primer like BIN Shellac or Spray on Rustoleum primer is a good start so you don't see through the paint.
Warped drawers may need some fixing, perhaps removing the warped pieces and adding new wood or veneer sheets and stapling/nailing it back on. Not 100% sure of your issue but I typically avoid such issues because they take a lot of time meaning lower ROI.
Do I have to wait beetween coats of base 12hours or just one hour till is dry first coat is dry?
I wait until it is dry to touch!
I really need your help. I tried latex paint over a little dresser, and the laminate curling cracks are showing through the paint causing it to look separated. I know I know I know I should have used a shellac primer or something, Do you think that would stop it from happening when I repaint? FYI I did sand the piece and also cleaned it with TSP before I did all this. It's the laminate that's the problem and the wood stain
Hmm, I would use a furniture paint for this project like Fusion Mineral Paint or a chalk paint. Your challenge will be removing as much of the old paint as possible, sand it as smooth as possible, trying to remove as much latex paint as you can. Id start with a low grit sandpaper then like a 400 to finish it off. Whether it peels off or however, try to remove the old paint as best as possible.
Prime with Bin Shellac, 2 coats just to make sure you are covering over the old stuff. Lightly sand with 220 grit sanding sponge and now you can paint.
Protect it with water-based poly or wax, your choice. Hopefully this helps!
What if the bottom is warped at bottom of drawers.. Can that be fixed. Thank you. Happy holidays 🙏
I haven't had that issue myself, I usually try to avoid projects with structural damage. But I think removing the warped piece and adding a new piece of wood or veneer would do the trick. Happy Holidays to you :)
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included czcams.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
What grit sand paper did you use the first time you sanded?
180 grit
How do we know if we’ve don’t a good job at priming and can start the next step of painting ?
It just depends on the piece you’re doing. If there isn’t any bleed through of oils (white primer will turn yellow with oil bleed through) then one coat is sufficient and you can move ahead with painting. Primer doesn’t really have to be perfect by any means. Hope this helps!
What grit was your first sanding of the top?
I believed I used 120 grit then a 180!
@@FurnitureFlippa Thank you sir 👊
Question: Can't you connect your vacuume cleaner to your sander?
You could if you have the connectors!
Do you wait for it to be dry before spraying with the lacquer
yes. But looking back at this project I would now spray it with water based poly.
How much did this project cost you to restore?
Such a great job man!! What kind of paint did u use by the way?? Acrylic type lemme know thanks
I used a KILZ primer, but I recommend a shellac base such as BIN. It will be a better base on laminate furniture. I used Behr ultra white paint on this project! I do now like rust-oleums white chalk paint, it covers easier.
@@FurnitureFlippa thanks very much i appreciate your time to reply 👍🏼👍🏼
@@alexanderlara8799 no problem!!
What's the best thing to do if the laminate is peeling back from a corner edge?
id say glue it back and use filler/Bondo if uneven
Do you really need to primer before painting it blk? I need to paint a table but I don’t want to spend more or do a lot of stuff
You don't have to, but I didnt trust the weird product that was on the surface. So I put a bit of an oil based primer over it!
