Adding real tile to our apartment but in a renter friendly way!

- These tiles aren’t your ordinary peel and stick tile… they’re real marble tiles but don’t require grout or mortar making installation super quick and simple. I had two spots in mind for these 1) to add some dimension inside of one of the decorative faux fireplace surrounds and 2) to add a backsplash to our makeshift kitchen area. The peel and stick tile in Daltile’s Xpress Mosaix line x Home Depot is such a good option if you’re wanting to make a quick update to the tile in your home or have an area that could use tile. Tip for renters: I attached it to a poster board for an easy removal later on! #HomeDepotPartner #THDXpressMosaix

I like that you used poster board so you can remove it and maybe reused it.
Agreed. This is the first time, I saw a video that said renter friendly that I think is renter friendly. Everyone else who says they are, all I think about, “is that really going to come off easily when it is time to move?”.
Yes this is actually a renter friendly option
What did you use on the back of the poster board to make it stay?
@@boomboxpants That's what I wanted to know.🤔
@@boomboxpantsnothing. It just sits there.
I did the same thing a few years back to my old apartment, with the poster board trick and decorating that and then I easily remove it when I move. It’s about time someone made this method with actual tile 😊
That’s a great idea for non-renters who get bored easily! Thank you!
Please do a small floor section for the bottom of the fireplace!!! It would complete the fireplace look to have tile on the floor up to the edge of the trim
Great idea!!
😅
OH THAT is a GREAT IDEA.
Nice!! It would look good, imo
Love this!!!!
The faux fireplace is such a genius design idea.
I didn't realise you live in an apartment. I really thought it was a house. The way you decorated it is so exquisite and really makes the place look bigger
Safety tip: never cover an outlet, especially with flammable materials. Builders use cheap receptacles that can get hot and catch fire behind the wall. It takes a while, so you need to be able to see if the wall starts to discolor or get hot directly above or below the outlet. I learned this the hard way when i put a bookcase in front of an outlet.
Good tip!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm sorry to hear about your bookshelf experience.
Outlets should NEVER get hot. Old aluminum wiring used to do this in electrical outlets because it would expand and contract with current, and lose contact inside the fixture. So, if your outlets get hot, contact an electrician to check or replace your wiring. (Aluminum wiring was common from 1950's through 1970's)
@@CraftHarlot My building was built in the very early 70's, so that makes sense. The property owners will never replace anything that isn't presently burning down, so I'm going to have to take that into consideration when it's time to renew my lease.
@@CraftHarlotI live in one of the poorest communities in Germany. Many beautiful old houses, but they rarely are cared for. When I moved here , 7 years ago, there where a lot of fires happening around . The fire department said that it was of the old electric wiring in the houses. Most of that wiring was done in the late 40‘s to early 50‘s. And the owners of the houses just don’t care to renew them. And renters are sometimes using to many extension cables, to many electrical devices.
This channel is like a whole irl Animal Crossing decoration. The fancy stuff you see all these people do on Instagram that you don’t think normal people really have irl, but this is it! The way you decorate is stunning and overwhelming with how nice it looks and feels. It’s like fancy, elegant, cozy, cottage core.
Wow, thank you!
That apartment looks like a posh Holland Park flat! You have an exquisite eye for design!! ⭐
Oh thank you!
@@PrettyinthePines Are you an interior designer by profession?
Great idea. Great for commitment phobic homeowners as well.
Not a renter but love renter hacks because, why would i want to install the hard, permanent way?? ❤
Ok WOW I am gonna be on the lookout for express mosaics now. Also watching you snap those tiles together was so satisfying!
I love the magnetic picture frames on the fridge 😍😍😍
Love the frames on the fridge
"Express Mosaics" from Home Depot...✌️❤️😎👍👍
Nice work around using poster board
Ugh the colors are beautiful 😭 this space is so warm and cozy
Would love to know the make and model of your beautiful refrigerator/freezer. Hope you see this! And thank you!
It should be the Smug brand. Check it out.
LOVE THE WAY YOU DECORATE!
At first I thought you were just using the board to cut the tile to exact measure, but what a genius idea to just slide it behind the fireplace for a more renter friendly option! Never would have thought to do that…
I live in a Hud. Apt. Building so I rent...Your poster board back splash will be perfect behind my stove and my counters on each said.THANK YOU ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Should you be putting poster board behind your stove? Sounds like a fire hazard that no one else in your apartment complex would appreciate you executing.
Maybe you should instead mount the tile on a tall piece of backer board that can sit on the floor but rise to the height you need behind your stove...
@@staceyschmidt3149 I didn't see a stove in this video, nor did I hear a mention of one...
Maybe she means on the exposed wall above the stovetop, to the hood (if there is one), rather than from floor (literally behind the stove) to ceiling.
Poster board is a fantastic idea , u can make a different one for every holiday. Great job . Love it😊
What a great idea! I love the fireplace one so much!
Your apartment is so beautiful
Thank you so much for this Marble Peel & Stick. Bravo. 🗽🇺🇲 Brooklyn NY ❤️
Express mosaics from Home Depot. Thanks!
I'm def doing this on the wall above my stove either on a poster board or canvas! Such a great idea- thank you!
Love the magnet frame ❤❤❤
Beautiful!
Wow. Thank you for sharing. 🇬🇧👍🏻💛🤍
From one renter to another, i LOVE this!😊
I love those magnets!!!
Gorgeous. Who would've thought. Great idea.
Make sure the tiles are rated to withstand heat if adding an electric fireplace with heater.
I like this idea even for my home, that I own! I've thought about adding tile above the bathroom sink, below the mirror but didn't want to commit to it as a permanent installation.
Your pure genius. I've been wanting to fix a corner in my room for my electric heater that looks like a wood burner but I have wood paneling this wood so work and just use some kinda sticky to hold it
BEAUTIFUL
Such a great idea. Love the look.
Wow! You did such a beautiful job. It really elevates the space! Such good ideas.

Clever. Thanks for sharing. 👍
You did an amazing job I love it😊
you are pure talent
I've never seen anyone use poster board before. It's genius! I know that sometimes those peel and stick tiles can still ruin the paint and drywall. And you might be able to reuse it after you move.
your home is one favorites iv seen in utube!!! great job
Love the green paint on coffee station
It is Treron by Farrow & Ball! Such a good color!

That looks amazing 😊
Love it, I am inspired.
Now I want to try these Express Mosaics in my bathroom.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.
Such a good idea using poster board!
Great idea!!
Beautiful ideas 💡 👏
Looks so awesome! If you wanted to close the gap for the back splash, you could use a little piece of quarter round
Great idea!
Nice idea Thanks 4 sharing😍❣️
Poster board is the perfect easiest way to go. I made a bathtub surround using this method and it worked out perfectly 😂
