- I've been wanting to share an updated tour of our apartment since we've made so many changes so I took advantage of a recent rainy day and put this tour together! I'll include paint colors and decor details below.

I have a friend who did interior design work. Whenever I was stuck about what to add to my home or place in a room, she would say "Buy what you love. Don't worry if things 'go together'. Your things will become friends and your home will say something about you and be interesting". I love how you have curated what YOU love. Your home is interesting, liveable and all the more beautiful.
I agree totally. My home is eclectic…..it’s a reflection of me, things I love. My daughter is very critical of my taste, her beautiful home is 100% coastal beach. It’s lovely, it’s her taste. I like lots of different beautiful things in the traditional style. The apartment in the video is fabulous.

I love what your friend said and totally agree. I said something similar to someone else that was looking to figure out what style they should go with. I told them just to buy what you love and everything will go together.

I love these videos. Americans and people who move to NY are super creative with their little spaces. Make them look like old country homes at times or super quirky retro spaces... even the minimal ones can look stunning.
I love every inch of this apartment. I’ve watched so many episodes of Homeworthy, showing huge, multimillion dollar estate homes. They don’t even come close to the character of what many millennials can do in a small space.
I enjoy Homeworthy, and I've taken much inspiration and many ideas from there.
I am a homeowner but still enjoy looking at these wonderful and cozy apartments. U can just feel the love. I have no interest at all in viewing the expensive homes with their fancy paintings. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
Everything is so perfect so please don't remove the door from the shoe cabinet, please fix the other door on the cabinet it's so worth it that's a fabulous piece of vintage furniture!
I actually don’t think it’s vintage. I’m pretty sure it’s from Arhaus. But I do agree. It would lovely to repair the other door if possible!

Ive always found it hard to embrase my smaller living space, seeing what you have accomplished in similar sized rooms is extremely encouraging.. gorgeous everything
Make sure you put L brackets on that tall bookshelf….my son pulled mine over on him when he was 2…..I thought he was dead….he also took all of the pictures off the wall near and over his crib and destroyed them….so make sure there is no glass in the frames….boys are terrible as toddlers….but are so loving as they grow up….hugs carolyn from Columbus GA
This is one of the most beautiful space transformations I've ever seen! It's amazing seeing the before and after photos and how it was initially just a boring white box. You're exceptionally talented!
Do not destroy the shoe cabinet with a curtain…you can fix the door. No matter how many pieces. This apartment is so classic! When you added those subtle touches such as moldings, paint color, ceiling wallpaper, the fireplace mantel, so many parts to bring this together. Excellent!
I agree, it is fixable, a new hinge and possible wood glue and clamps. Good Luck! Your apartment is a reflection of who you are, Lovely!

Your apartment is absolutely beautiful and your dog is so sweet. Be careful with the glass fronted cabinet in your son's room. It is always a good idea to anchor anything large and heavy like that so that he can't ever pull it down on himself. Love your taste in decorating.

I usually love minimal aesthetics nowadays but I love the vibe of your place. The colors are calm and classy, and there are touches of old school/vintage pieces that I enjoy. Overall it’s quite beautiful. 🤍🤍

It looks like an NYC apartment 100 years ago, so full of charm and architectural detail. The added elements are just gorgeous.
This is utterly delightful. I really like the gentle, elegant yet livable quality. I think you've convinced me to add some moldings when I move. I love the burgundy/wine foliage against the green/grey tones (that's how it looks on my monitors at least). Pearl is a winner.

My wife and I are wowed at the way you have turned the boring apartment into a high end apartment. Our favorite is the t.v. and cabinet underneath but truly it's all very outstanding. Love Pearl, too.

Newfies are the best. Gentle giants, well worth the slobber and shedding. So calm and laid back, actually better for an apartment than a hyper smaller dog. A walk in the park and they're good. TFS

I don't usually comment on these home tour things, but yours is remarkable in that you are so authentic in your design and speaking to an audience that I found yours to be "special." Not that others aren't lovely -- just that some people may think they have to have some kind of "affect" to talk about this realm. I love it that you are homey, personal and REAL. The space had great bones , with the step down living room.. the arches into the spaces and rooms ... but you had the vision! I feel your home is unique because of your use of color, like the dining wall, dark beautiful cabinets and all the trimwork. The fireplace was icing on the cake. I could see some white birch logs just tied and set on the hearth in front for texture. YOu have truley made a one of a kind nest for your family in the middle of NYC! And you with Pearl was so precious. Your eyes just lit up when you were hugging him.
Your apartment is lovely. I love that it has it's own character and not everything is beige and white "aesthetic" like most of youtuber's houses lol.

Your home is really beautiful! I agree, love, love New York in the Fall. It’s definitely my favourite season in The City. Then, of course, Christmas is magical… I do love it for my birthday in February… Easter and Spring. Anytime is the right time.

When I tell you I lived in an apartment growing up in Brooklyn with a similar mantle and now I wish I would have appreciated it more as a kid. This was when Williamsburg was not a popular area, in fact it was considered a bad area to live in. Lived right on Bedford Ave.

I love all the muted tones you used on the walls throughout your home. Your vintage collectibles and furniture are lovely. You make great use of your hiding spaces with cute boxes, etc. The thing I miss most about not living in NYC since 1990, is that I have not had deep windowsills. Some of my former apartments didn’t have windowsills at all, and my current apartment’s windowsills are no deeper than a small drinking glass. I love plants, and now have to put them on tables in front of windows. What a waste of my floor space!

Shelby, I love the way you have maximized the space in your home. I love everything you have done with the apartment with the exception of the dark ceiling wallpaper. I just think it makes the dining area look too dark but other than that everything is so lovely. I'm curious to know if you have plans to change the wallpaper. I would be interested to see what it looks like with a different design or lighter color.
