Traditional Appalachian folk song. This is one I'd classify as "old time". It's was one of my favorites growing up because it's fast, easy to dance to, and easy to learn. The song alternates back and forth between the verses and chorus. Each section is just a repetition of the same melody played twice. This is a go to when someone asks me to play something traditional that has a lot of energy.
    Notes:
    - Standard tuning: D, A, D for many dulcimers. Though I'm in the key of G in this video as I'm playing on one of my shorter models, the Jack, tuned G, D, G. Similar tuning patterns will work the same such as C, G, C or A, E, A.
    - This song has easy patterns to learn but they jump up and down the neck quite fast so be sure to practice at a slower tempo to nail the transitions. Using multiple fingers will help with efficiency as well.
    - I'm often playing with a traditional play style for dulcimer by letting the low strings drone open with the strums. This is as complex a style as I'd generally use to play this piece. However, you may add chords in with the melody as you see fit.
    - Getting a good internal sense of the timing and chord changes can help you hop back into the song after improvising. Half a verse or chorus should be 8 beats or taps of your foot.
    Play for joy and enjoy

Bro makes plays and sells his own instruments and only has 300 subscribers. Underrated

To what extent do you do custom work?
I've looked about the internet a bit and it seems most every instrument maker only offers small customizations, such as length and decoration.
I was curious if you'd be able to essentially turn a rough design sketch into an actual instrument.
I'm not able to actually commission anything yet, but i figured might as well ask about it.

Perhaps, it will depend on what you’re looking for. I mainly build lute style mountain dulcimer or instruments there about their size. To do something comparable but a whole original body design is potentially possibly but will involve cost for developing molds. What is feasible for for me to build also will depend on the form of the design and the extent of my abilities.

The design is still in a rough concept stage at the moment, but it'll be a lute style dulcimer, or at least something very much similar to one once finished.
It'll be a long while still before i have it all down properly as It’s from of a fantasy setting i am writing, so the details of it change a bit as the whole thing gets more filled out.
Later this year i'll hopefully be able to get one of your existing designs and have some fun while getting a better feel for the project.

@@Aetius_of_Astora okay, sounds great. I did make one inspired by the game Wildermyth last year. Let me know when you know!

I don’t. Is there a song you think I should learn from the series?

None in particular. Just was wondering if you knew any from. But if anything then the main theme if possible would be amazing
