Playing on my Wild Sparrow Strings 7-string lyre Voyager series. This is a Greek inspired design. Tuning is a common tuning involving six notes of a major scale. The first note starting on the 2nd string and going up to the sixth degree on string 7. The 1st string is also the 6th degree of the scale but an octave lower than the 7th string (or one and a half steps below string 2). If you have another brand of lyre then be sure to follow your instrument's recommended tuning and consider string tension as well as suitable key before retuning to match.
Each of my instruments is a one of a kind. I gladly take orders for custom builds so contact me through my social media accounts or website for inquiries.

Greetings. Thank you a lot for all the lessons you have for us - novice lyre players. Could you do a tutorial for "The dawn will come" from DA3? Would be much appreciated.

THAT WAS SO GOOD! I needed this, was feeling super lost with a lyre project i've been working on. One question if you don't mind. In case I only had access to nylon and wound guitar strings, would using the same string thickness for say 2 different lyre notes work? My geographical location makes it really difficult to get proper lyre or harp strings, so I have to make do. Thanks!

Yes, you can certainly use the same size string for a couple of adjacent notes

Thats so interesting i have mine in the key have cmajor but mine is a ten string but i have a missing peg so atm its 9 string so so i do have my second string as c and so it should be B before the c but instead i have A cause i like how it sounds better haha. But thats just super interesting that its very similar and i had no clue that thAT was a thing!

Wow, I build Anglo Saxon Lyres & Talharpas myself, and $550.00 is asking a bit much for a simple Lyre wouldn't you think? do you hand route them, or cnc work? I know I see cnc or laser cutouts for sure. still very nice craftsmanship and a beautiful instrument.

Nope, I value my time and I think you should as well. I used to work for a fellow who used CNC and got burnt out. I don’t use CNC process on any of my instruments. And those centerpieces you see are made with a scroll saw and sometimes jeweler’s handsaw, no laser. It’s my favorite part to make and makes me feel a special connection with each piece. An indicator is that there are no burn marks inside the design’s walls. Happy crafting!

Where do you get those strings? I can only find strings 40 cm and below (thats 15 inches)

I've been playing around with a lot or different string sizes for my builds but a good place to start is Music Makers. They have both steel and nylon for their "Old World Lyre". They're come in sets of 10 but I only needed 7 for my styles.
