I will never forget that feeling of playing T2 for the first time as a kid. Not only it was a great game, making another quality leap in the series but it also made me wonder for what amazing spectacles might be created with better technology.
As years went by I realized it's the imagination and courage of creators which manifest greatness, not just capability to utilize hardware.

the tekken franchise is an incredible one, thanks namco.
i started with tekken 5 on home systems and tried out all the prior games on arcade after that. i dont think i play the older ones that much but admired tekken 2's physics and secrets. defs an incentive to go back and put some more time on the blast city to play this.
also the green thing in the speech bubble is a sort of melon. it's sometimes a powerup in pacman and is referenced in other japanese games like doa2
mamco loves to reference pacman everywhere. even in wangan midnight maximum tune and mario kart arcade gp just to name a few haha. namco don't ever change.

Strange how I didn't notice these minor differences, I used to have this game for almost 20 years. Still a great game years later.

I didnt know alot of these facts, especially the ones about the arcade version. One thing you didnt mention was that Version A re uses the Tekken 1 announcer. Also, the remixed medley is used for the results screen in survival mode.

24:51 Fact 38. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I swear you heard it on the results screen for Time Attack... and maybe Survival. At least one of them anyways.
Great video either way! I always love Tekken 2 content ❤️

What about 50 things about F1 games? I got a few entry ideas:
    - F1 2010 beta used upgraded quality versions of 2009 cars
    - tobacco and alcahol sponsors in F1 97 beta
    - early beta builds of F1 97 still had the Lola team
    - temp voice clips left in the liverpool version of F1 2001
    - alleged F1 2007 beta made post-Championship Edition
    - 2007 Ferrari F1 car on Fuji Speedway in Gran Turismo 5

Wow, I remember finding your tekken videos a long time ago and I used to get hooked watching them. And now this video just popped up on my recommended and didn't even realise it was you at first. 30s into the video I recognise your voice after all these years! Good to see your still making vids!

Those items in the thought bubbles are icons (based on other Namco properties) that you can accumulate when on a long winning streak against a 2P in arcade mode in Tekken 1 but maybe Tekken 2 as well? My memory is a little hazy haha
PS when I was a kid and before Tekken 2 officially came out, I envisioned Heihachi climbing up the cliff that Kazuya threw him off of in his Tekken 1 ending and I just remembered being so excited to find out that my prediction was correct haha

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. T2 is, probably, my favourite game, and the more attention it gets the better. Like you, when I play it, I try to do everything and learn everything about it. One thing that still confuses me, though, is the difference between Ver. A and Ver. B arcade releases. I know that in the arcade release Jun and Baek, for some reason, switched places as regular and secret character respectively. Also, fun fact, but there is another tombstone featured in the game, in Kunimitsu's ending. According to a Japanese friend, the inscription on that tombstone spells "Kingu," which is rather weird, given that Kunimitsu and King have no relationship.

As my 2nd most played fighting game series, love seeing you videos on Tekken. Ironically, Tekken 2 was also my first Tekken game as I had never even seen or heard of Tekken 1 (But even as a child, I figured there was a first one somewhere and I wouldn't be able to play it until Tekken 5, where you could play the first three games on it).
3:05 This was always an interesting to me and was made even more interesting when I looked into character backstories and read about the various rivalries. Sadly, this doesn't seem to happen anymore after Tekken 5. Would love to see it return.
5:28 Interestingly, Jinpachi was originally one of several characters that were meant to appear in Tekken 3 as there were sound files with the announcer even saying his name.
17:30 This was something I noticed straight away when I played both characters. Its a nice subtle reference to who they are as Devil's has a sort've demonic roar in it where Angel's has a sort of bell effect. Interesting that neither subtle differences can be heard in future installments (Save the console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 1 I believe), you don't hear it either when Kazuya switches to his Devil form and does his laser or when Devil Jin uses his laser. In fact weirdly despite Angel being back in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, she doesn't have that distinct version of that sound effect at all.
28:56 This similarly happens with the Arcade version of Tekken 3, though its instead with all the hidden characters (and it appears to be effectively the first rough version of what would eventually be Julia's individual theme for the Console version)

  • @ICryOverSpiltMilk

I always found it odd Jun fought at Stonehenge in Salisbury, England and prototype Jack fought in a post apocalyptic London, you can see Big Ben in the background but I think Big Ben is only there to make the Windermere music make sense. It's good to see my home country so well represented! Or with prototype jack he might have ripped the top off of Big Ben and transported to a remote beach somewhere, that seems more plausible as there are higher and bigger other structures in London, Big Ben is tiny in comparison. I went to the top of the shard and Big Ben was a tiny speck, like a wall clock!

That's not a blue ghost it's a vulnerable scared ghost. The bell could also be a reference to wrestling since King is a wrestler. Tree stump could be meaning they are stumped also protection of nature since she is a native American. Anna loves coffee by the way. I know this for a fact. Yes generally most of these are character specific.
Also, King in Tekken 1 and 2 is not the same person as King in all the games since. That is probably why they have a missing move.
