You where wrong about Tekken 1 devil kazuya. There are small differences with regular kazuya (mainly the damage he does and his jab reaches further) but I know this is a very small differences and most people consider it as an alt costume like you said in the video

Wonder if we will ever see Angel again she just pretty much gave up on Kazuya after he embraced his devil side and I guess she just went back into the heavens a shame she was a good character.
I believe angel was the one responsible for Jins vision which caused him to spare kazuya's life at the end of Tekken 4

Angel was the "human" side of kazuya, visualized in tekken 2... She was technically not real, just a figment of kazuyas devil induced madness

just a little note: tekken 7 retconned the reason for throwing kazuya on tekken 1, heihachi threw kazuya on a cliff because he wanted to make sure that he didnt inherit kazumi's devil gene. but it still backfired because throwing him off a cliff awakened the devil gene
"If he dies: he didn't have a Devil Gene. If he survives: he has the Devil Gene, but I'll raise him like usual, without making sure to get him exercised or killing him myself"

@@ge9884 Arrows of Sirius and Claudio (story wise) should've never been a thing. There's no way they didn't know about Devil Kazuya or Heihachi/Kazuya didn't know about them
Same thing with Heihachi making Lars to make sure he doesn't have Devil blood, but then in 7 Heihachi already knows that Devil Gene was inherited through Kazumi
Heihachi def got defensive as he got older in regards to that reason
I believe that to be a refernce to how witch trials were held during the middle ages - either witch drowns, or is burnt alive upon escaping from the water
Tekken's lore never've been cohesive in the first place, considering it has all the mutually exlusive story arcade endings for different characters
I REALLY liked how Tekken mapped their buttons to each limb and made high and mid blocking automatic. I do some martial arts, and this decision always made Tekken especially enjoyable and immersive for me because it is SO intuitive when you're deciding what strikes you should be using.
I swear, Chaolang is the only one who grew up with the Mishima Clan and is now living his best life BECAUSE he wants nothing to do with that crap. Well, whenever Kazuya or Heihachi aren't up to their world conquering bullshit, anyway

Ahhh the Mishimas, your typical down to Earth family.
Back in the mid 90s I was all over Tekken every time I would go to the arcade, with one of my fondest memories finding a machine that was accidentally set to free play and spending a solid two hours on it. Kazuya was my main in the original title and it completely blew me away when he was the final boss of the second game, setting up years of convoluted history and lots and lots of fun.
Gotta say this channel has got me picking up an older fighting game or beat'em up that I missed out on practically every week. Love these deep dives into series that I was once big into but my interest having fallen by the wayside, reminds me very much why I love gaming. Appreciate all the effort put into it.
If Kazumi had such a problem with bringing evil to the world (to the point of asking Akuma to kill both her husband and son for their actions) then why did she happily become a mother, knowing that she would be the one to pass down the Devil gene to Kazuya??

Its because Harada can't make a cohesive story anymore. Look at how terribly written Tekken 7 is for majority of the characters.

Absolutely. The one character that beat both Heihachi and Jin in tournament, bested Ancient Ogre and fought Kazuya toe-to-toe. It's a shame that Paul was reduced to this pitiful joke of a character.

I always thought that devil in Tekken 1 and 2 was a different entity entirely from kazuya but he later absorbed devil into himself and became one I think in Tekken 4
They were both actually Devil Kazuya. In Tekken 2 though Devil (and Angel) also represented the internal struggle within Kazuya.
I can't believe. I'm 33 years old and a fan of Tekken since I'm 7 and I never understood so many things I missed. Like Heihachi monitoring Kazuya and showing to the world, then Kazuya reverting this with the satellite, or Jin thinking he will lose his devil gene by beating Azazel, etc etc. I guess I'm becoming too old and too engaged in life for keeping all track. It's so rich. Thank you, amazing video!

Now that the blood feud between Heihachi and Kazuya has come to an end. A brand new blood feud has now begun between Jin and Kazuya. It’s a never ending cycle of the Mishima family.

Ogre brands his arm with the Devil Gene during Tekken 3 opening, it burned into his skin
Watch tekken 3 opening, at the end of the opening you will see the devil spirit, that's when the devil gene marked his arm
His appearance in T7 pretty much confirmed to me that Devil and the Soul Edge are connected. No doubt about it.
I think Yoshimitsu sword is related to the original Soul Edge. Using it made Yoshimitsu lose all of his limbs. That's why he's basically a Cyborg

To think that Kazuya was supposed to be the Ryu, Liu Kang and Kyo Kusanagi of the Tekken franchise. But in the end, it was Jin Kazama who become that role while Kazuya now is just straight up villain

Correct me if im wrong but I think the voice actor of heihachi passed away and usually game developers tend to retire the character when the voice actor can't be replace for sentimental reasons.
Unshō Ishizuka did pass away, but he was already a replacement. Daisuke Gori was the previous Heihachi actor, who also passed away.
Yes, there is replacement voice actor who sounds much younger. Is why they've been toying around with young Heihachi since TT2.
I'm probably dead wrong, but I suspect Tekken 7 was old Heihachi's send off, and young Heihachi will be the main version going forward (not sure what the story behind his return would be). And old Heihachi will be available through customization.
Great video! Devil Kazuya is more like a iconic villain than a terrifying one to be honest and being SSB suit him. Devil Kazuya is like a classic Nintendo mega villain. No matter how many times you make Bowser fall in a pit lava or thrust the legendary destroyer of all evil "The Master Sword!" inside Ganondorf's chest piercing his heart and etc. Devil Kazuya will always come back no matter what. Well, since Kazuya kills both Heihachi and possibly Akuma at the same time, so yeah Kazuya is quite terrifying because how powerful he is.

He has multiple devil forms , it’s been stated it’s like he’s experimenting with it. It’s basically levels to it, like how akuma went into that other form. And jin has had a couple of iterations to like how he’s doing partial in tekken 8

Street Fighter has Bison, Mortal Kombat has Shao Khan, King of Fighters has Rugal, Fatal Fury has Geese Howard. Great bosses however Tekken has now Kazuya Mishima, a hero turned villain, had an anti hero run and now a complete villain for his son Jin Kazama to defeat once a for all.
He was never a hero. He just wanted Heihachi out of the way so he can take over

Kazuya don't care about Jun who he shares a child with I like how Jun is a little bit of reflection of Kazumi and Jin a little bit of reflection of Kazuya only difference is Kazumi wanted to kill both Kazuya and Heihachi while Jun want to help Jin end Kazuya.
Actually Jun wants to save Kazuya, remember he became corrupted by the Devil Gene. She was the only one who managed to soft Kazuya somehow, and that's when Kazuya was fully under control of the Gene. About his son, he didn't have any time to spend with him since he died before Jin's birth. So when both sre adults, Devil tries to take its other half from Jin using Kazuya, but since Jin has the Kazama blood, it backfires and allows Kazuya to regain control fusing with it, and since he is power hungry,wants to complete his Gene using his son

His appearance, that dark stage, the echoes after every hit, the SOUNDTRACK just everything about him and his stage was eerily haunting. So hard to replicate
I remember getting Tekken 2 around the same time as MK4 and imagined a fight between Shinnok and Devil Kazuya.
I gotta say, while Devil Kazuya is supposed to be crazy powerful and dangerous, it still took him everything he had, standard and supernatural, to JUST BARELY beat his 70+ year old father in that volcano fight in Tekken 7. So either Heihachi is an ABSOLUTE BADASS, or Kazuya, with all his power, is kind of a pathetic loser who only gets anywhere due to his Devil gene.

Everyone has been changing the stories of Tekken while saying it doesn't have a good storyline while not even understanding how much storyline there is. I still dont believe Unknown was supposed to be Jun. Fans changed that. Sometimes stories get rewritten and overwritten.

The more you learn of the tekken story the more you're confused. The devil gene came from kazuya mom so how did heihachis father get it?
Jinpachi never had the gene. He died under Honmaru and then was possessed by an evil spirit who resurrected him, that's why he's "alive" in Tekken 5
