It’s no different than the small folk saying the only reason Tyrion was born a dwarf was to teach Tywin humility/to knock him down a peg. Larys was just born with a foot deformity and Lyonel was looking for a reason to explain it, when it’s just something that happened.

Why is everyone so mad about how daemon is being portrayed this season. Bro, when the morally gray character turns out to be not that great of a guy. Deamon is going through something called a character arc. that’s way more interesting than the one note archetypical rouge prince character everyone wants.
Exactlyyy, I think also the problem is people’s patience and media literacy. People keep saying Daemon is nerfed when I can assure you he still has the capacity of clapping most of his rivals. Also they don’t seem to notice that he is going to come back stronger and better once he finally deals with his internal shit! Rogue prince wise I mean
@@kaydollar2490 This is not the issue. The issue is the visions were very repetitive. 4 episodes of visions is a lot in any show. Especially since we didn't learn anything about him. We already knew all of it based on season 1. Daemon may be discovering himself but as the audience we are just waiting for him to figure out what we've all known since season 1. Also, people want major characters to take action and drive the plot. Daemon has been mostly passive and stagnant for 4 weeks.
He's not grey in the show. He's just bad. His one redeeming quality is that he loved his brother, but even then, he was a shitty brother, and just loving your family doesn't make you a good person or even a grey person. He's about as grey as Cersei. In the books Daemon is said to be equal part villain and hero, and that's what people wanted to see. In the show he has nothing heroic. He's also been shown to be stupid, ineffectual, and pathetic. He is politically completely out of his depth, and he strangled his wife because of his own insecurity. He's completely embarrassing. He also doesn't care about his daughters, whereas in the book he does. He's just an awful person and is nowhere near being the morally ambiguous figure of the books.
@@MarkHogan994 and I understand that, but you gotta take into account that in the source material Daemon just hangs out at Harrenhal for months (that are not elaborated on) while the events we are at take place. Inserting him where he is not supposed to be yet plot wise would just complicate things and not talking about his time in Harrenhal would honestly just leave him without screen time. I’m not saying this is necessarily a justification but an explanation more so. He is not moving the plot because he’s not supposed to yet. I think the bad decision here was to continue and give him as much screen time possible when he has no plot purpose RIGHT NOW.

The kiss regardless of whatever the visual intent was, can serve as a plot tool (even more with the background music hinting at a sinister fate) for later dynamics and events (some important events that are to come might get enhanced if done right with this kiss) but the reaction of people to a sapphic kiss in 2024 is icky. It’s not an insane thing and people screaming their lungs out makes it feel way more… objectified in a way.
