    Damn it Charles! Every time I think I’m doing a great job on my parts you come out with another video and put me to shame lol. Seriously though, those things belong in a jewelry case or something. Can’t wait to see this, and Disruptor come together. I’ve mainly just dry blasted and Cerakoted my parts. The more vapor blasted parts I see, the more I want to get a vapor blaster.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  Před 2 lety

      You are! Vapor ain't always necessary! But you can get small cabinets too. I went big for frames... Disruptior is officially pulled back out and side by side with the CR500 now. Time to finish these then hit another giveaway bike 🔥

    Learned something new in this video for sure. With regards to dry blasting being an option to strip the anodizing, do Pryme wheels have the same effect without the negative of taking the shine out of the metal? I've stripped a few swingarms entirely with Pryme wheels, and I never realized they were anodized.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  Před rokem

      Stoked to hear that, KP. yes totally. You could Dry blast a swing arm to speed up the pace, then use Cameron’s wheels on it to bring the shine back up on the spars for example. The great thing about vapor blasting is the uniformity of everything. Otherwise, totally not necessary as you already know having done it other methods.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  Před rokem +1

      I use the smallest glass beads you can buy. Aside from that, I believe technique is even more important. It's taking me a couple years to earn it, and here's a video you might like: czcams.com/video/93S9wb5aHio/video.html

    • @mxrevival

      Best way for a luscious lawn like ours is to have someone else take care of it. I'm the a****** pouring the lye bath out in it when I'm done with the swingarms 🤣

    What size media are you using in your blaster? i tried the same swingarm close to the front at 60 psi and it started making some serious impressions much last sand blasting so i stopped.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  Před 2 lety

      I use the smallest glass bead you can get 👍 you're on the right track, you just need to do the blending phase after. I explain it in the video. Pressures may also vary from machine to machine with different guns etc but the blast lines are normal before the blend phase

      @@mxrevival Looks like i need to switch over to #13. I think i might just make up a pail of separate sizes. i like the Harsher finish the 10 on some parts. My Diy blaster allows me to switch up sizes with the swap of a bucket. Thanks for the info

    Once done vapor blasting the swing arm wound I have to re anodize again? I keep the bike clean regularly would I have any problems in the long run?

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  Před rokem

      It's a good idea to do so, but as it is your art, you can do as you please! You could also do a clear ceramic coating such as cerakote

    Do all the cr500s have anodized swing arms? I have a 1997 that Im in the process of building.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  Před rokem +1

      To be honest, I have yet to see a Japanese swing arm that wasn’t anodized. Unless it was very old! You’re 97 almost certainly is. I do not believe the modern KTM uses any anodizing and is simply raw aluminum alloy.

  • @alanbrown1563

    Hi Charles I've learned a lot from your videos could you tell me which nozzle your using ' i have the same gun with a 32 cfm compressor and how much media to the water do you use thanks mate.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  Před rokem

      Stoked to hear that & thanks for watching. This video might be helpful. czcams.com/video/J5aR3EKKPWM/video.html
      Also, I simply have my gun's nozzle paired to the HP of the compressor as recommended. So I did not use CFM in relation to choosing a nozzle.
      The water to media is also hard to gauge as the cabinet is always being filled and drained of water when wiper runs & the spray-off hose is used. My cabinet says "fill water to this line" without regard to capacity when first refilling- So water amount is always fluctuating drastically.
      I do always dump in a 50lb bucket of media though. That's the only constant & known measurement.

    Love it charles. How do you get that gloss? I noticed similarity with Haeseker racing, wich also got some great shine on their engine cases. Special way you vaporblast them, many techniques, seen some stuff coming of vaporblasting looking really dull almost.
    Cheers for another cool video🤘🏼

    The inside of the arm will now corrode like mad the caustic soda will carry on eating the inner faces as you will not be able to remove it

  • @MrDogtown22
    @MrDogtown22 Před měsícem

    Aren't you meant to anodize swing arm after?

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  Před měsícem

      I wouldn’t say we are “meant to” but it certainly isn’t a bad idea.
      The manufacturer does it to keep maintenance down and longevity up for 99% of people.
      In that case, keeping this swing arm looking good will require some Scotch-Brite after each ride.
      The trade off is a super trick looking swinger (bright, cool brush lines if well kept) at the expense of ease of maintenance.
      Good question! Thanks for watching!
