      There are many big going to the us bit the Mærsk triple-e series routes from Singapore to Rotterdam europe. And sometimes even comes to Sweden where i live! Cause Sweden have Gothenburg wich is one out of only three European ports than can handle this big beautys, cause they will need deep waters and wide waterways and high cranes

    • @NilsHedstrom
      @NilsHedstrom Před 8 lety +9

      Daniel Weldon yeah cause mærsk sealand used to flagg most of their ships to Norfolk but not nowadays. Most big ships come to europe(where i live) and also to asia, many don't come to the us as they are to big to pass the panama canal(Panamax ships) and they are also to big and do much draught to get in to many ports, the ships are growing more mighty, big and powerful but the ports don't grow whit them, my local port(Gothenburg) is one of 4 european ports that can handle those beasts but to my port they can't come in fully loaded as they will be too deep for the shipping channel so we have to make the port entrance 4 meters deeper so that they can come in fully loaded

    • @jedrobertson3206
      @jedrobertson3206 Před 7 lety +22

      There's often good reasons why it only came at a certain time.
      For example the communication for end-to-end shipping did not exist for quite a while. Container sized boxes are simply too big to move with hand, you need cranes, flat bed trucks and container lifts. At the same time you need a certain level of global trade that actually makes something like the container viable, not to mention a cheap durable material to build them from.
      Only once those innovations were made did containers suddenly become a good idea.

    • @RBuckminsterFuller

      RBuckminsterFuller Along with that, yes you could say that boats are harming our oceans, but what is your other option for getting things easily overseas without costing a lot? Flying it over? but isnt that another way of harming the world? You can't truck it across the ocean either, so what is your solution. Also if just all of a sudden stop shipping things like we are now, a lot of things you see in the grocery store will jump in price.
