Gillian and Dave - possibly the best music duo ever to come out of the land of the free. IMO anyways. Gillian's albums especially are like... really important to me.
Reminds me of the line, "You be Emmylou, and I'll be Graham". 🎶From "Dream A Highway". They're like salt and pepper.
They are pretty damn magical together.
I tried and I tried and I tried, and found that there's *absolutely nothing wrong with loving Dave Rawlings* .
America is rich to have sweet folks like these make that great kind of music.
Is it possible for two people to be this beautiful, articulate and talented. Love them so much. If only they became a circus, I would surely run away with them.
Dave and Gillian drove across Australia to perform on the east coast. I happened to read a music review featuring them, hereto ignorant of DRM. I was blown away by their show in Bangalow. My fondest hope is that they return to our shores again one day. Sigh.
I've loved Gillian Welch for decades and it's great to see her with her semi-silent partner Dave Rawlings. Their music is beautiful.

Dave is the coolest dude ever. He always seems to be happy as a clam and having the time of his life every performance I've ever seen. It's obvious he is a serious musician who doesn't take himself too seriously at all.
daniel morris saw him loose his deep cool @ hardly strictly bluegrass festival a decade back, when the soundman couldn't cope with the wind chill. Buuuut...seen him a dozen times maybe and chatted with him once till Gillian dragged him off. 😂

- he runs with Emmy Lou and Jack White, Chris thile and of course frckn John Paul Jones toured with them just before this phase.

I went and saw their concert in Sydney at the Enmore theatre the other night. Blown Away does not fully describe how I felt after the concert. I have loved these guys for years but to see them in concert live is another experience altogether. These guys are not only good but you can see they love what they do and they interacted with the audience all night. I would have paid double to experience what I saw...........BRILLIANT.
I have this performance saved and have rewatched it so many times. Their music is so unbelievably beautiful haunting and really takes you on a journey to another place. It’s just visceral. No matter how many times I watch it it still affects me just as much. You feel this music in your bones.
I am on the edge of tears it's so beautiful!! Can't wait to be in their live audience in 9 days!

Just saw them in Richmond Va Saturday night. It was insanely great. I've never seen a concert audience so collectively happy.

Just found out they are on their way down here to Australia next year! First time in eleven years or so. Plus, they're doing a double-headed tour: Gillian Welch for the first lap, then Dave Rawlings Machine back down the east coast. This session is beautiful. I've listened to them for years but have never seen them live before. The harmonies, sound, instrumentation...just stunning.

I loved watching this video and seeing Willy Watson playing and singing along with Dave & Gillian. I love how humble they are about their music and song writing. Also I love that Willy Watson is in my way of understanding musicians still learning but this time definitely with some off the best musicians. 👍

@@kevindunne6520 You can hear it from Dave himself - there's a vid here on CZcams. I believe it's Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Dave is sitting on a couch with the guitar being interviewed and he tells the story. I went to the music store he is referring to is Allston Ma. last year and asked them if they knew the story - no one remembered it even though it's been the same staff for 40 years. When I walked in I saw an old Bandmasater Reverb head and smiled to myself. You'll understand if you watch the interview.

saw the five of them early november at lincoln theater in washington dc....terrific...very lively hall, so gil said, 'we dont usually do this but this hall sounds so good' and they sang 5 encores....the highlight was a chilling version of china doll....'made a friend or two along the way...what can i say.....whoa, ah, oh, wah, oh'

+johnkane1972 I find the pureness of the live performance and the excellent engineering gorgeous. I wish they would release these sessions somehow. Some are much better than the album versions.

Saulius Menkevičius I've actually emailed them begging them to release their sessions, but all I got back is that they don't do it. If they did I think they'd make come cash for the station and the artists.
I found the violins on the album distracting from his voice and guitar. But this sound so good.
master piece. Great mix. Just like an instrument, a voice must be practiced. Rawlings is a great example of that.

I never thought I needed another guitar, but I want an Eppi just like Dave's. Seen the pair of them on TV over here in GB and loved what they did, really enjoying the YT vids at the moment ( becoming a bit obsessed by them really ). Thank you for sharing.

Got my first taste of Nashville Obsolete about 18hrs ago while driving to work. The local radio station played Pilgrim (You Can't Go Home) - an excellent track! It's pity that they don't perform this track on this video.
