Dude perfect timing I am literally looking for a starter welder
Little better then a beginner machine ,definitely something you can grow with
its a great welder for the money. Im no pro but i love mine!
Just pulled the trigger on that 225x
Prime Weld rocks! I've had the 225X for about 2 years. No problems what so ever. I also have a Cut 50 from them. It took a dump after 3 months. I emailed them on a Sunday and had a call back in 10 minutes. I told them what was going on and was told they'd ship me out a replacement. 5 days later I received a box from them. I didn't realize what a great company they were until I opened it. Apparently they were sold out of the cut 50's, so they shipped me a cut 60. A $250 upgrade, just so I did have to wait a few weeks. Great customer service.
thinking about getting the plasma from them !
Seeing things like this are convincing me to get primeweld as my first welder ever. I’m getting the tig225 to learn welding having never even tried it. But I’m up for the challenge since the reward would be worth it. But seeing them go the extra distance just so you didn’t have to wait makes me actually to have them be the option ima go with
I bought this machine about 1.5 - 2 yrs ago. Its been a great problem free machine. I ditched the pedal and their torch button for a "Tig button" that allows amperage control from a pressure sensitive torch button. Been a great setup for me.
Who did you get the TIG button from?
I AM one of those guys who spent 40 + years welding. You gave a surprisingly clear explanation of the operation of that welder. Congrats! I had a bad moment when you turned all the knobs on the machine all the way up, though. Many years ago, I bought a Hobart Cyber-Tig 300 from an R & D outfit that thought it needed repair. That machine also had a built-in computer programming system, and, as a result, had about four or five more knobs than you have there. I removed all of the knobs, cleaned the machine, and turned every knob to zero. Then, turned the machine on, and advanced the knobs, one at a time, just enough to get it to function. Eventually I found out that someone had accidentally engaged the computer program so the machine would start running at high amps after a certain number of seconds. So, I got a near-new machine worth $5000. for $1200., with no repair cost. So.....Don't DO That! It's real easy to screw up your settings, but can be a nightmare to undo. Anyway, have fun!
I find on most of the newer machines as long as you keep the inside clean they run good for a while. I agree with you on the settings I did the same thing.
I had a miller 180 tig and did an upgrade to the Primeweld 225 tig welder. All I can say that it's an outstanding machine.
You said you weren't familiar with TIG but you gave one of the best descriptions of the functions that I have seen to date. Thank you
Terry.
I bought a prime weld ct520dp a few months back to build some red beard inspired projects.. amazing machine for the price and the customer service is a real person that always has useful answers
The explanation of function knobs was just what I needed
Just unpacked mine that I had sitting in the garage for a good 4 to 5 months. Thanks for the info on the setup 👍
I have NEVER in my life, seen something packaged so well. That's awesome.
I bought one of these machines a while back. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality for what they cost.
I never did read the manual, though.... I just started fiddling with the knobs and blowing holes in shit till I figured it out. This IS the way. I have spoken.
If Chris wasn't there to set it up that would have been the exact way I would have started lol.
It is a great welder for the money. Had it for about a year. For a beginner this welder coupled with the tigbutton amp controller would be very nice. The only thing I have to complain about is the welder had a massive leak when I got it. I could turn the tank valve off and lose all the pressure in the system in minutes. But that's fixable.
Pull the cover off and gently leak test the entire gas line and all it’s connections, around the solenoid everything . Sometimes they don’t put the hose on all the way on or skip out on hose clamps but you will know when you take off the cover dude , it shouldn’t take you long nor cost much if anything to fix , maybe $4 for hose clamps from your hardware store
I've done some pipe welding before, the guy who showed me how to do it blocked up the ends and purged the inside with Gas and the finished results were amazing. The penetration on the inside was incredible. I've done Spiralwelding with MIG on a lathe too, that's some cool stuff, repairing Shafts etc.
Nice share dude!
I've repaired RNLI (Royal Nation Lifeboat Institution) Lifeboat Shafts, they run a Water Bearing, so being Sea Water and very Salty, it's incredibly corrosive. When you have 16ft long shaft 4" diameter and try to repair it, you end up having to do it sections to prevent it from bending. Hotspot straightening of shafts with a Oxy/acet torch and a compressed air gun is a black art. But trust me it's do able 😁
After watching this video, I more than likely would purchase a Prime Weld brand tig welder if I were in the market. Thanks for the great info.
I want to thank you for your video explaining the Primeweld Tig225x. At first I was heading towards the lessor complicated tig welders. I was afraid of the complicated dials as a beginner in TIG welding. I do have a Primeweld CUT60 works awesome. Worked both with Lincoln 90 and amico arc200 love them. But I needed to go further by moving into TIG welding. You have convinced me on this welder. THANK YOU!! It will take some time because It's out of my budget but I will save for it!!
I have had this welder for some time now (stick welding only) and have really enjoyed it. The reason I haven't done much tig is because I haven't been able to get a hold of an Argon Bottle for a decent price, so I borrowed one from school to test all the settings.
One thing I discovered when trying to run it on the 110 pigtail is that you need a 30 amp breaker as it will pop a 20 amp. So I had to install my 220 30 amp outlets earlier than I was expecting.
No point in bothering with 110, it’s known to shred through IGBT and mosfet inverters, terrible for the longevity of your machine … do not use 110v . 240 is much better and worth the few bucks you spend on installing a dedicated circuit . As for the bottle, just bite the bullet and buy or rent a T size bottle.. done. I fill mine once a year and that’s it.. keep in mind I work min wage in Canada so if I can afford it lol , so can you most likely . Just have to want it bad enough I guess lol
That's a slick looking welder! You did a good job explaining all those knobs for having so many.
The basic breakdown at the end of the video was very helpful! Subbed!
I'm sure you guys have gotten lots of comments like this, but you guys gave me all the answers for my beginners TIG AC/DC welder ! Thank you !
Prestige/CK world wide wide wide wide! From Stepbrothers😂😂😂👍👍👍
really good explanation of the controls and what they are doing. can't beat this setup for the price, love mine.
Your breakdown of the knobs and their functions was very good. I’m looking forward to trying this machine for myself.
I got a handheld face shield with my welder. I used it for a solar eclipse wearing UV sunglasses behind it. That is all.
Thanks for the info. I was actually looking at getting this welder to learn how to TIG aluminum. Completely novice welder here. I used a $99 Harbor Freight Fluxcore welder to repair a broken exhaust pipe on my pickup. Hands down ugliest weld on planet Earth! The only saving grace was I did not set myself on fire, and I repaired the problem, kind of.
Anyways, great presentation, and I think I may actually get this welder based on your review! And I subscribed!
Wish they had a primeweld retailer in Canada , we do have Canaweld which is really good tho for Mig and Tig needs, solid machines I love my MIG/stick 202 and am going to be getting their AC DC 200 tig it’s even got a foot peddle so excited!
Me too my friend because I want this welder. All the Canadian made ones are way over priced compared to this machine that does the exact same thing lol
I just picked up the cut 60 today, I plan on going back next week for the tig and who knows maybe the Mig welder as all of my stuff needs to be seriously upgraded
You guys rocked this review!!!!
I prefer the AHP 201xd, it's only preference, they do the same thing. Whatever gets you sticking metal together. Great video guys.
I’m tempted by the ahp. It’s only 670 shipped right now. But it’s only 200 amp & doesn’t come with a CK torch, the price reflects that I guess.
That was what decided it for me, the 201 was introduced at 570 and with the better pedal, it was a no brainer. I do wish it came with the ck torch, the adjustable head torch is kinda annoying with the adjuster nut in the way if you have a close grip.
@@RoundBoyRanch I thought the same thing after looking at the reports. I was about to buy a used one then saw how the people were dealing with a dead machine and their service department had the consumers t/s their own machines then had to pay for shipping it back and forth.
The package did not want to let go 😂 nice welder for sure
The hand held hood is good for letting your wife watch lmao
I'm looking to get into TIG so I can do fun things with my cars. Stuck with 110 for now because the old house only has 100-amp service and the cost to upgrade it is absolutely stupid. I was thinking about the super cheap "bargain" units. But seeing what comes with this unit has me wondering if those others are really bargains. Thanks for taking the time to explain the controls as well. Seems like this unit does everything I might eventually want to do even after I upgrade my house electrical. But it still lets me get started and learning the basics until then.
i have one of these the 2t swich is for when you are using the foot pedal and the 4t side is for when you are using the tig button on the torch and you can control the amperage with your foot, its a super good deal for 800.00
Pulse is nice
Just got one! Can’t wait to start tigging
Done a door job at Roxaine Bottled Water in Benton Tenn a few years back and that place is full of stainless and Aluminum pipe, they had a french contractor in doing all the piping, all they used was hand held shields but they kind of hung from a necklace thing odd looking, but the hoods looked like the urinal in the porta pottie so thats what we called them after that.... lol if you ever need your shop doors worked on feel free to reach out to me.
Good to know you guys are in TN! I'm a native myself and will definitely check into your future events!
I just wanted to say , thank you to your friend for going over all the features of the torch setup !! My main emphasis for buying a tig is to weld stainless , mild steel body panels and lastly aluminum . . Thanks for a great video !! If these people spend the time to print a quality owners manual with actual useful information , then they are in this for the long haul and want to build a solid customer base ! This really impresses me about their company !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a Flow Meter Greg, not a regulator 😉
Yep!
Do any of the knobs go to 11 ? 😂😂
Very informative, thank you all.
I'm In Australia, I was looking for a tig welder with a reasonable budjet, I looked around of what was available here and looked at the Duty cycle as well, and I found only 2 or 3 welders that had a reasonable duty cycle for the money and I chose the BOC Gasses 200 smootharc I bought it about 13 months ago and I find it Quite good, BUT it cost me $1200 Aud, which I thought was a little high but I could get Argon from the Same place, one free bottle with the package, and the rest at about 85% cost of the competitor, but I had to buy the Foot control separately, Now today I look on the other site (the competition) and they have a new welder like what I got 13 months ago (Rossi brand) for about $900 and it comes WITH a foot control. Damn! Your Prime weld looks like a good machine, (they don't sell those in Aus)
I’ve seen bad reviews about the rossi
Got one recently. As a beginner though I find it hard to get my settings right. I have to do a lot of guessing with most buttons. But for that cost, I'll get me plenty of 'hood time' til I can afford the latest from Everlast.
Good video!
It looks just like the easwood tig 200 plus or minus a few features. If it's anything like it. Its a decent little Tig machine. I've been a welder for 20yrs these aren't the fanciest but they will get the job done just fine.
Great welder. Have had mine for a little over a year. You might want to get a back-purge setup so if you ever do SS pipe, etc you can already have it on hand to prevent sugaring.
Got one coming. Should be here this week actually.
Awesome review I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 225x
Great video Red Beard!
If the welder is half as strong as the box I'm in 😂😂
I love mine. And 4T is a little different than described.
Great video, Thank you just purchased one.
Your videos are awesome. Along with great quality.
hey guys !
o just got mine..!! i' m welder for aerospace industry after some research this machine in my opinion this is the best one outhere for the money ..!! and it welds everithing im planning on installing it on my garage..!!
to do some small parts welding bumpers slider, half cages etc for rc. crAwlers!! and some art work as well
tell me what you think..!!
Great, informative video. My 225x was just delivered two days ago. So far, so good!
BTW, just support that carb with a little duct tape to the roll cage. Good to go! LOL!
The higher on the ac frequency the deeper penetration
Thanks for the video RBG
The duromax discount code doesn't work thought you should know. Otherwise really enjoy all your content.
That is almost like the AHP ALPHA TIG 200X that I own
I just got one sent to me as well. Seems really legit. I need something for the home garage and I think this is gunna be good
I was in the market for a tig welder but I ended up getting the tig 200 digital from Eastwood with my big daddy Trump bucks. Been learning aluminum and the biggest tip I can give is don't depend on the cleaning action to clean your material. Make sure that it's spotless and I even clean my filler rod with acetone. Have fun learning aluminum.
Now I can have you weld some stuff for me lol
S
I've had mine for nearly a year now and I've never had any problems with it. I've used it for tig and stick, up to 3/8 thick, it has never let me down. The only complaint I've had was with the earlier foot pedal that was sent with it, they have upgraded to the better one. I switched to a CK 20 water cooled torch because of the amount of welding im doing, the 17 was getting too hot.
I don't think this is a starter welder, it's much better than that. I've even had this outside with an extention cord stick welding on my pipe fence gate, worked great.
But we didn't, because fun. 👍😎👍
Great welder! Bought one last year 👍
What are the TIG cable lengths ( Torch and ground ) on this machine and is it an inverter welder ??? Great video ya'll !
Rating your unboxing definitely a 9 out of 10 :)
Prime weld is good welders they have any welder for anyone just starting out or Experienced
great video as always
Great review... Was too funny when you pulled the "face shield" with it - i was thinking hmmm TIG welder, does it include a third had to hold the shield while you are TIG welding :-P
How does it compare to a Alpha TIG 201XD
Great video, I’m in the market for an affordable tig welderAC/DC, do you prefer the prime weld or the Everlast machine?
up and down slope does not work with foot peddle. 4 T with trigger switch gives you up and down slope. I think
Thanks great video is it still performing?
Torch is only rated for 150 amps why with a 225 amp welder where the 26 torch ?
It has the upslope and downslope but does the foot peddle control the current or is it just an on/off switch that runs full power when pressed? I really don't see a need for the up or down slope if you can vary it with the peddle.
Yes, foot pedal controls the current as you would expect.
Pls do one vid on stickwelding
Love your videos
Can you stick weld AC, or is the stick option DC only? Thanks.
Does it have High Frequency Start
Good for a spectator
Curious, how did the Everlast welder play out?
Everlast is a beast welder
Now I know who to call fo a welder
Bos saya tertarik dengan mesin las produk anda. Bagai manakah cara ny biar saya bisa membeli ny. Saya tinggal di indonesia
i sure could use one of those, but rona took my job, cant afford one now :(
I hope your situation has gotten better since. God speed.
Purchased!
The face shield that came with the welder, would be great for the camera to protect the subscribers with sensitive eyes.
That's how I filmed the welding shots lol
Hey weren’t you the guy that won InkMasters?
No sir lol
Red Beard's Garage google a picture of Jason on Ink Master you’ll see why I’m asking. Lol
What's the duty cycle 🚲 %thanks
Well I'll Be A Metal Meltin Maniac 💖💥💨
Ahp alphatig 201xd best in my opinion
When is the mini bike gonna be done
HE KILLED ME WHEN HE SAID 800 WHEW
Any discount code available?
Dude, that was a nice box, shame on you. Waiting for delivery, way excited.
Would I be better off with a MIG to learn on?
Yeah we have a review of the mig coming out as well
Red Beard's Garage sweet cheers mate
I tried to buy but doesn’t ship to
Canada; sigh
Yo look to be a rookie at unboxing, maybe ya could have AVE show ya how to run a chainsaw lol.
Is needed a gas?
Yes, you need a tank of argon for TIG (Tungsten / Inert Gas) welding. Without the inert gas, your metal will burn in the intense arc heat.
Tig/stick that welds steel and aluminum...that wont break, but still has 3 year warranty -shipping included-for 800 dollars-DID I MENTION I LOVE MINE! PLUS I CALLED MIKE AND ASKED IF HE COULD SELL ME A 25 FT TIG FINGER BUTTON AS THE ONE SENT WITH THE WELDER WAS 13FT-HE SENT ME ONE FOR FREE. BUY IT YOU WONT REGRET IT. THESE HONEST PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO.
Welders controls are starting to look like, guitar pedals ...lol
Prob similar just a different application.
800 bucks is way outside of my "budget"...
Didn't mean to imply it wasn't a good deal, just seems to me that an 800 dollar price tag and the word budget don't belong in the same sentence...
Hm like that mate?
what you lack in experience make up for in amperage.
