    Prime Weld rocks! I've had the 225X for about 2 years. No problems what so ever. I also have a Cut 50 from them. It took a dump after 3 months. I emailed them on a Sunday and had a call back in 10 minutes. I told them what was going on and was told they'd ship me out a replacement. 5 days later I received a box from them. I didn't realize what a great company they were until I opened it. Apparently they were sold out of the cut 50's, so they shipped me a cut 60. A $250 upgrade, just so I did have to wait a few weeks. Great customer service.

      Seeing things like this are convincing me to get primeweld as my first welder ever. I’m getting the tig225 to learn welding having never even tried it. But I’m up for the challenge since the reward would be worth it. But seeing them go the extra distance just so you didn’t have to wait makes me actually to have them be the option ima go with

    I bought this machine about 1.5 - 2 yrs ago. Its been a great problem free machine. I ditched the pedal and their torch button for a "Tig button" that allows amperage control from a pressure sensitive torch button. Been a great setup for me.

    I AM one of those guys who spent 40 + years welding. You gave a surprisingly clear explanation of the operation of that welder. Congrats! I had a bad moment when you turned all the knobs on the machine all the way up, though. Many years ago, I bought a Hobart Cyber-Tig 300 from an R & D outfit that thought it needed repair. That machine also had a built-in computer programming system, and, as a result, had about four or five more knobs than you have there. I removed all of the knobs, cleaned the machine, and turned every knob to zero. Then, turned the machine on, and advanced the knobs, one at a time, just enough to get it to function. Eventually I found out that someone had accidentally engaged the computer program so the machine would start running at high amps after a certain number of seconds. So, I got a near-new machine worth $5000. for $1200., with no repair cost. So.....Don't DO That! It's real easy to screw up your settings, but can be a nightmare to undo. Anyway, have fun!

      @lifewithjonathan5277 Před 4 lety

      I find on most of the newer machines as long as you keep the inside clean they run good for a while. I agree with you on the settings I did the same thing.

    It is a great welder for the money. Had it for about a year. For a beginner this welder coupled with the tigbutton amp controller would be very nice. The only thing I have to complain about is the welder had a massive leak when I got it. I could turn the tank valve off and lose all the pressure in the system in minutes. But that's fixable.

    • @smokefentanyl
      @smokefentanyl Před 2 lety

      Pull the cover off and gently leak test the entire gas line and all it’s connections, around the solenoid everything . Sometimes they don’t put the hose on all the way on or skip out on hose clamps but you will know when you take off the cover dude , it shouldn’t take you long nor cost much if anything to fix , maybe $4 for hose clamps from your hardware store

    I've done some pipe welding before, the guy who showed me how to do it blocked up the ends and purged the inside with Gas and the finished results were amazing. The penetration on the inside was incredible. I've done Spiralwelding with MIG on a lathe too, that's some cool stuff, repairing Shafts etc.

      I've repaired RNLI (Royal Nation Lifeboat Institution) Lifeboat Shafts, they run a Water Bearing, so being Sea Water and very Salty, it's incredibly corrosive. When you have 16ft long shaft 4" diameter and try to repair it, you end up having to do it sections to prevent it from bending. Hotspot straightening of shafts with a Oxy/acet torch and a compressed air gun is a black art. But trust me it's do able 😁

    I want to thank you for your video explaining the Primeweld Tig225x. At first I was heading towards the lessor complicated tig welders. I was afraid of the complicated dials as a beginner in TIG welding. I do have a Primeweld CUT60 works awesome. Worked both with Lincoln 90 and amico arc200 love them. But I needed to go further by moving into TIG welding. You have convinced me on this welder. THANK YOU!! It will take some time because It's out of my budget but I will save for it!!

    I have had this welder for some time now (stick welding only) and have really enjoyed it. The reason I haven't done much tig is because I haven't been able to get a hold of an Argon Bottle for a decent price, so I borrowed one from school to test all the settings.
    One thing I discovered when trying to run it on the 110 pigtail is that you need a 30 amp breaker as it will pop a 20 amp. So I had to install my 220 30 amp outlets earlier than I was expecting.

    • @smokefentanyl
      @smokefentanyl Před 2 lety

      No point in bothering with 110, it’s known to shred through IGBT and mosfet inverters, terrible for the longevity of your machine … do not use 110v . 240 is much better and worth the few bucks you spend on installing a dedicated circuit . As for the bottle, just bite the bullet and buy or rent a T size bottle.. done. I fill mine once a year and that’s it.. keep in mind I work min wage in Canada so if I can afford it lol , so can you most likely . Just have to want it bad enough I guess lol

      I’m tempted by the ahp. It’s only 670 shipped right now. But it’s only 200 amp & doesn’t come with a CK torch, the price reflects that I guess.

    • @RoundBoyRanch

      That was what decided it for me, the 201 was introduced at 570 and with the better pedal, it was a no brainer. I do wish it came with the ck torch, the adjustable head torch is kinda annoying with the adjuster nut in the way if you have a close grip.

    I'm looking to get into TIG so I can do fun things with my cars. Stuck with 110 for now because the old house only has 100-amp service and the cost to upgrade it is absolutely stupid. I was thinking about the super cheap "bargain" units. But seeing what comes with this unit has me wondering if those others are really bargains. Thanks for taking the time to explain the controls as well. Seems like this unit does everything I might eventually want to do even after I upgrade my house electrical. But it still lets me get started and learning the basics until then.

    I'm In Australia, I was looking for a tig welder with a reasonable budjet, I looked around of what was available here and looked at the Duty cycle as well, and I found only 2 or 3 welders that had a reasonable duty cycle for the money and I chose the BOC Gasses 200 smootharc I bought it about 13 months ago and I find it Quite good, BUT it cost me $1200 Aud, which I thought was a little high but I could get Argon from the Same place, one free bottle with the package, and the rest at about 85% cost of the competitor, but I had to buy the Foot control separately, Now today I look on the other site (the competition) and they have a new welder like what I got 13 months ago (Rossi brand) for about $900 and it comes WITH a foot control. Damn! Your Prime weld looks like a good machine, (they don't sell those in Aus)

The only complaint I've had was with the earlier foot pedal that was sent with it, they have upgraded to the better one. I switched to a CK 20 water cooled torch because of the amount of welding im doing, the 17 was getting too hot.
    I don't think this is a starter welder, it's much better than that. I've even had this outside with an extention cord stick welding on my pipe fence gate, worked great.

    The face shield that came with the welder, would be great for the camera to protect the subscribers with sensitive eyes.

    Is needed a gas?

    • @firstmkb
      @firstmkb Před 3 lety

      Yes, you need a tank of argon for TIG (Tungsten / Inert Gas) welding. Without the inert gas, your metal will burn in the intense arc heat.

    Tig/stick that welds steel and aluminum...that wont break, but still has 3 year warranty -shipping included-for 800 dollars-DID I MENTION I LOVE MINE! PLUS I CALLED MIKE AND ASKED IF HE COULD SELL ME A 25 FT TIG FINGER BUTTON AS THE ONE SENT WITH THE WELDER WAS 13FT-HE SENT ME ONE FOR FREE. BUY IT YOU WONT REGRET IT. THESE HONEST PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO.

    • @jaybax3060
      @jaybax3060 Před 4 lety +1

      Didn't mean to imply it wasn't a good deal, just seems to me that an 800 dollar price tag and the word budget don't belong in the same sentence...
