- Unboxing and review of the Sonicake Black Hammer. Is it a metal monster for less than $100? You decide if it is an effects pedal that meets that claim with some scary metal tones.
They say it can do everything from 80's Hard Rock to Djent and everything in between, but what do you think? Is this a dual rectifier amp head in a $100 box?
My solid state Marshall lead 100 was a huge disappointment to me when I was 15 and looking for my first Marshall tones as it is one of the loudest by totally CLEAN amps I have ever played and I could never get it to break up without using my Boss Heavy Metal pedal, which incidentally sounded great with it. So the big test was to see if this multi-effects unit could make this loud solid state head sound like the tube amp tone I hoped it would be all those years ago.

I have the rockstage one and it is super great sound and value ($55 new from AliExpress). Super compact compliment to a plain dry tube amp. It take space equal to a guitar strap in the gig bag.

I found one on reverb that was used as a demo for $29 it looked in great condition. I got mine on Aliexpress for $60 shipped from the Sonicake store.

I’ve listened to the track it sounds amazing. Is that your vocals on the record? If so I wouldn’t change it sounds great. I can hear influences such as Bob Dylan vocally and guitar wise I can hear John Mayer and the Beatles combined absolutely love the track

Found somebody seling a crate gtx212 for $15. I already have a gt212 with footswitch.. Anyhow the DSP is jammed on the preamp so I'm gonna use this on the FX loop insert

Love how grimey it gets with chorus on metal. Haven't tried chorus on my Crate..
Super nice demo, but you abused the hell out the chorus settings. Otherwise, you get a really good estimate on what this baby can do and the range of sound it can create.

So I would still have to get a cabinet simulator to use this with a powered cabinet ?
No it would sound fine because it would be a cabinet. You would need one to go direct into a sound board.
