I would argue that even them simply sharing a communal bath is abnormal because that is not a part of American culture and is seen by the vast majority of people here as being odd, to say the least. People donât live in vacuums, the way they comply with or deviate from local social norms is important.
@@DocBree13 That's true! Immersing in the new culture you live in can be exciting and fulfilling. I was just thinking that their issues extend WAY deeper than just a communal bath. Immigrants can come to America and wish to bring a part of traditional relaxation time with them, and as long as they aren't hurting anyone then it's a great thing to remember and indulge in their culture. And because most places in America don't offer communal baths anymore (many YMCAs do not have this anymore) then it would make sense for them to get a sauna/bath etc to make them feel more at home.
Watching further episodes, these specific people are just emotionally damaged weirdos. The baths together are messed up for a few reasons, none of which being the bath itself.

I personally donât see anything wrong with showering or having a bath with your mother, maybe itâs because I use to get in the bath with my mother when I was 13, and she was 29/30. We both washed each otherâs hair, and just lay there and talk about life. I never saw anything weird in it because my mother and I was always close growing up. But maybe thatâs also because my mother and I knew when to give each other space and have boundaries. But bathing/showering together isnât weird in my opinion.

However, I do have chronic illness that renders me helpless sometimes, and she's helped me take a bath on occasion. I'm 23, and she's bathed me in the last 6 months.
@@ajtrimmthorns of course, thatâs natural to feel that way if itâs not something that you grew up with. So I completely understand that. With me, my mother was my best friend/sister/mother up until I was 14 (she sadly passed away at the age of 30). I think it all depends on the level of closeness and comfortability you have around each other, if both of you are reserved and private people then it makes sense why you wouldnât bath together at times, because thereâs that boundary there. My mother and I were as open as books with each other, the only boundary we had with each other was when she wanted private time with her partner and Iâd just be like âaight cool, gonna dance for a bitâ but I guess it worked well for us because we built a very solid open minded relationship with each other (not in a romantic sense) that was built on openness, respect, trust, honesty, love and care. So I think thatâs why it was never weird with me, though my friends at school at the time thought of my relationship with my mother as weird, however my momma and I were just the best of friends and sisters and mother and daughter all in one, which many my age didnât have with their mothers, so with that I can understand how it can feel weird and look weird when looking in on the dynamic.

Something is very off about her. She shows very little emotion in her voice and she doesn't accept her stepfather in the same house as her and her mother. Last time I checked, he was allowed to live there since they're married and all. Brittani needs to get intense counseling and some sort of group therapy where she can learn social skills and make friends with people outside of the family.

Weird fact, my little brother has the same congenital illness, CAH. He went into puberty at around 6 and has been on medication since that age to stop it. It's a crazy illness that's really hard to pass on to kids. It's a recessively linked gene that has to be passed down from both parents and since the early 2000's babies have been tested at birth for it. Anything prior to then, many cases went undiagnosed until puberty sets in early. It's a crazy illness that impacts people in different ways, could explain a lot for this relationship!
My mom and I watched this show when it first came out because we thought we had a borderline smothering relationship...turns out weâre fine
