Yeah...although it kind of took a turn for the better later when the lgbtq+ community reached out to her when no one else was willing to bring the loss up. They sent her flowers and condolences, and helped her grieve when no one else would dare to approach her. It helped her open up to others, even if they didnât share the same beliefs.

I grew up in a house like this. It sticks with you forever. They tried welcoming her home as a way to ease the potential unwarranted blowup. You will never know what mood they will be in and at any given moment it can take a turn for the worse. Her daughter grabbing the pillow is literally the only thing she can do to keep herself from absolutely bawling on camera. Iâve heard the mom has mellowed out, but we never know what happens behind closed doors. You learn to read the signs after being there yourself and itâs just so sad. I hope the people involved had some sort of peace after this. â€ïž

Growing up my mom was always unpredictable she was abusive and so was my father as I begin to grow older the only means of protection was a pillow or my arms and you couldnt cry our you would just get yelled at worse things have gotten better but there's always that little voice in the back of your head or that feeling that just always tells you to 'watch out' 'stay hidden and stay quiet' i live my life walking on eggshells when im with them.
A year or so a picture of her at pride in ny went viral! She was standing with a bunch of gay men hugging them (not protesting, lol)! Its actually a sad and touching story! A couple of years after the show her older daughter Ashley (the one in the show) died in a car accident. The woman said the gay community reached out to her and wouldn't leave her alone (in a good way) and they were the only reason she got out of bed. Now she is much more understanding and accepting of people with different beliefs and is really happy -- she runs a dance studio now and has turned down show offers to avoid the limelight.
They also have talked about how production did a lot of things while she was in the house like rigging things to move and stuff so it freaked her out. She totally admitted to it not being editing that made her look crazy though lol.
Damn. I feel bad for her. Production basically traumatized a very sheltered woman for views. I mean, anyone who doesnât know about life outside her beliefs & community & being incredibly superstitious would be absolutely terrified of things seeming to move on their own

Almost all Christian's pick and choose the verses they agree and disagree with, and follow them accordingly. This isn't a religion, this is just being a self-righteous, conceited asshole. In order to be a Christian you'd have to be devoted to the entire cause, not just what you agree with.
People seem to forget religion requires your entire faith and compliance, not just certain verses you'd like to pull out of your ass when it best suits you. This is why I think Christianity as well as most religion is a joke.

The Chosen Son, Voldemort temptations and choosing to be a snake, there's also a lot of Latin naming derivatives to Christianity. Rowling literally got a degree in Classics and goes to church religiously, especially when she was a homeless single mom.
My mom never let me read/watch harry potter but she explained her reasoning being that some of the spells/words they use are close to if not the real spells/words used in the real world. . I was "allowed" to watch it, she just made sure I knew what I was going to be getting into and I guess "scared me out of it" in a sense. To some it might seem like a bad parenting move but looking back she didn't terrify me of it. It was just the "are you sure you really want to see all of that?" Scare.

Look, I think astrology is stupid, most everyone does past 5th grade science, but I would not go around screaming and ripping up money over it. There's general Christianity, and then there are different denominations of the religion. There's Catholicism, and then there are Protestant branch-off groups. From personal experience, I've seen Catholics be a lot easier to be around than Protestants; I've been around all sorts of the different branches, and this is just what I've seen.

Apparently after the death of her daughter Ashley she actually chilled out. There are a bunch of articles that say that sheâs become a LGBTQ ally and really seems to be expanding her horizons. Just wanted to share a bit of what I read because I appreciate that sheâs worked through what she obviously needed to work through and seems to have become a better person overall.
From what I read she was in a really deep depression after losing her daughter, even her family and close friends couldnât talk about her loss with her but a number of gay fans she made from the show reached out with condolences, notes, flowers and really helped her work through her grief/ get her up out of her bedroom. Sheâs since become very accepting and was even seen at Pride in NYC 2019. She said the kindness from the people who had elevated her in meme status really helped her open her heart and mind. Before Wife Swap she said she didnât realized that people werenât Christian outside of her small town but all the support she received exposed her to other ways of thinking.

That's actually really amazing to hear, awful about the daughter, but at least the mom grew out of her shell and has gotten better. Hope she continues on her path, and thank you for the update!

What's really sad is she is not an anomaly. Hell, my inlaws are like this. They though I was a witch who worshipped Satan because I had a few tattoos and actively tried to destroy marriage because of it. Some people just don't have it together and cannot seem to accept that not everyone on the planet lives like them. They are the type to believe that schizophrenia is a type of demonic possession and its really scary. My husband has some horror stories from when he was a kid growing up in a family like this and became atheist once he married me and got out. I'm glad she's changed now, but I feel so sorry for her children who had to grow up around this woman and very toxic religious family.

[fyi, the other family was a hypnotherapist mom and astrologer dad]

I was literally going to say the same thing until I saw that you posted this as well. I mean yeah she acted this way in the past, you can't change it but what you can do is reflect on your mistakes and change yourself for the better. We all have done something stupid, whether we admit it or not, or whether it's televised or not. I just feel bad she lost her daughter, no matter what, no parent should outlive their kid.
