- Charted at #48 on the Cash Box singles chart in July 1954. Original Billboard review: "What better theme for the springtime than a young girl's dream of romance? And here the intimate thoughts are sweetly projected by the songstress. Side should win spins, and should please the thrush's big audience." Billboard rating: 82 out of 100. Written by Jacobsen. The other side of this single is "In a Garden of Roses" which charted at #22 in Billboard.

The song was written for a college review Joni's great pianist had been in. She recorded it at the same session she did the Christmas songs "Nina Non" and "Christmas and You." She did a whole series of recording sessions at that point because she was moving from Chicago to New York City and was having her tonsils, which had tormented her with constant colds, removed. She did one more Chicago session but in fact in later years returned to Chicago to record several times. A genius.
@Fegen Thanks for your comments John, it's great to have you back!

Not quite. See the explanation below. Got tons of radio play but the flip side, the interesting "In A Garden of Roses" got the spotlight. It was Ed Bonner of KXOK in St. Louis who first turned the record over and gave plays to "Everyday," saying "MGM Records has put a big push behind 'In A Garden of Roses' but I think this is really the hit side."
@lasurvivor47 You're welcome!
