I have been a vegetarian since I was 16. At the beginning of 2019 I cut dairy and refined sugar out and that year my lifelong week nails became stronger and I watched my toenails grow out so clear and healthy looking. At the end of 2019 I started following the whole food plant based lifestyle and I dropped 10 lbs which hasn't come back. It was really the dairy or sugar exclusion that improved my nails.

I would not have commented on Dr. Barnard's family but in later life he was converted from meat heavy diet with what other refined stuff or burgers we don't know into vegan. His mother cooked him fake meat. That did not reverse his Alzheimers as we are hearing keto diets and coconut oil is healing and reversing Alzheimers symptoms in patients. So as a note of caution that Neal Barnard fails to highlight or stress more research upon is safety of fake meat or fake food and his organization is quiet on PETA and others invest in lab meat.
He speaks on Elon Musk for animal cruelty but if vegans eat food off the farm that kills rats to stop it from eating their produce then of course it isn't a concern for him.
He can keep rats as pets, most intelligent people will take cows out from factory farms and keep them as pets.
Make sure you watch fake meat because Neal Barnard's father did not reverse Alzheimers while I am hearing even meat eaters reverse with coconut oil.
Biases of a community must also be exposed and heavily questioned especially if it comes from medical community of doctors trying to influence other countries by spreading fake wisdom and fake food.

I quit being a casual smoker and switched to a WFPB low oil diet + glass of red wine daily 2 weeks ago. I stopped taking metformin. I now supplement with B12 (200 micrograms) and Vitamin D daily. An idea how long recovery of my memory/cognitive decline will take? No history of Alzheimers in my family. Losing your memories of cherished times is one of the worst diseases I could imagine. I always get something out of watching these shows - thank you. But I have to say I was disappointed by Dr Barnard's rather dismissive answer to the fasting question. Intermittent fasting has been found to have many benefits - lowers IGF-1, helps prevent prostate cancer, increases telomere length and more . I lost 24lbs on the 5:2 method of IF, now I do a weekly 24hr water only fast. I find it gives me increased energy. Please do a video about this - perhaps consult Dr Walter Longo and other fasting experts. ATB.

The human genome does not operate independently but depends on the the human gut microbiome which represents over 1000 genomes of gut microorganisms... The alternative to dietary caloric restriction is intermittent fasting or periodic tasting. Once there is an onset of metabolic syndrome/Type 2 Diabetes - internal organ damage dictates restricting whole grain carbohydrates from a diet to prevent serious organ damage. The value of fiber is that it slows down digestion - which only is valuable if that fiber is locked into nutrient rich foods so nutrients like potassium and magnesium are absorbed more effectively that in pill form.If the fiber is artificially added to processed foods with no nutritional value it will promote malnutrition.

I can’t seem to find anybody interested in this idea because I’m sure that every city has its own empty building that could be used for growing food. It certainly is to me. If you ask the most well known whole food plant based doctors, you'll get different responses. Dr. Greger and Dr. Fuhrman say it is and I'm going with them (and science). Fortunately there are great alternatives. Quinoa is not arsenic-heavy, has more protein than rice, a lower glycemic level and it cooks up nice and fluffy in only 15 minutes.

      Dr. Joel Fuhrman notes:
But in any case, doctors also have to be aware that when people eat a diet as healthy as I recommend, that’s high in micronutrients, it drops down the white blood cell count. And a lower white blood cell count is associated with longer life. We’re talking about here the normal range is about 5 -10 and that a person eating a nutritarian diet or a high-nutrient diet which I call a nutritarian diet can drop the white blood cell count to 2.5 and a conventional physician, not knowing this, may then refer you to an oncologist thinking you need a bone marrow biopsy and workup. Really it just shows that you’re in better health, the white blood count is so low. I’m saying that doctors should be taught, that people who eat very very healthily with lots of green vegetables, berries and beans, then their white blood count is supposed to be low. It’s a good sign, not a bad sign.

I don’t know if this is the right place to send this. Dr B recommended 1 cup of soy beans to combat hot flashes. In fact , soy beans have the highest protein content of any plant foods (1/2 c 21 gr). The downside and what I didn’t hear in any of the podcasts is how high in fat and calories this same 1/2 cup is - 12 gr fat and 266 calories. Wow. That would be good to know before deciding to try. I started this and could not figure out why I was gaining weight, 1 lb per week. Just started tracking again and see how this could happen by eating an innocent 1/2 c of soy beans per day.

The only thing that will convince you is after you give it a go. I don't have autoimmune issues, but from what I've researched, carnivore is the best for that. Average man living to only 73.... Not really true as it relates to anyone who doesn't die early due to unusual diseases.
The real data, according to Social Security longevity tables is that the average male who lives to age 50, will live until age 80.
(actually 50 years plus 29.88 years)
Sure, earlier than that some die in birth, car crashes, cancer, and violence.
But for those issues related to diet and cardio vascular disease, the average American male will live until age 79.88 once he passes age 50.
Statistics can be twisted.... allowing myths to survive.
