Mint as always 🐟👍🐟
Thank you. Much appreciated
Don't worry about the temperature. The common carp our koi ancestors is native in temperate regions. The same goes with the american pitcher plants, sarracenias. Do not bring them indoors as they will miss the much needed dormancy. Great vid as allways.🙂👍
Hi Magnus, I am not too worried about the temps for their health, it's more for me and my own pleasure of seen them eating and swimming about 😊
Good video and informative like normal lau madame 5 filters 😂👍👍👍👍
Thank you Gummy 😊 Lau 2 fingers 5 filters is my full name 🤣🤣
Another great update Lau 😍👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you beautiful people. 👍🏽
Another good watch..
Looks different with the other fish 🐟 gone. Will benefit you massively though with the growth of others & nitrite etc .. glad it's all running smoothly. Water clarity looks good 👍
Hi Mike, thank you 😊 yeah it looks weird. But I have the other two coming in April/May so had to reduce now to avoid problems that you are aware of for the winter.
good to see about the water results
Yeah at least we know what it is now. The pond detox and Restore are working wonders. No more flashing at all so really pleásed.
Winter has started, I see. We are now in Spring in SA. Breeding has started here too. I am preparing my final exam to be head judge now.
Your water is very clear. We have a similar product here which neutralises pollutants but it is very expensive. Remember, weekly treatment is what will stabilize the water. Have you considered the settling chamber you mentioned? This would help too. We tend to have settling chamber before the main filtration to allow the correct pull into the drums and settling chamber when topping up. You seem to know what you are doing girl, keep up the good work, always sound advice from your videos. Your fish are spoiled with food, we use little crustaceans here and frozen river snails. They love it.
Hi Mimi. Well good luck with the exams. Head judge, it means then you can judge in Japan, doesn't it?
Yes I will 'religiously' put it in every week. Yes for the settling chamber, just bought a tub and will be doing this from March I think as I don't want freezing water to sit there for two days doing nothing. But yes definitely with the settling chamber.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Not straight away, shadowing first in Japan, then selection, sponsor, etc..
Busy busy as usual…. Winter is coming 🥶❄️
I am thinking of you during those low temps 🤣🤣🤣
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection mon petit poi 😘
Glad you've have an answer regarding you water chemistry issues. Hopefully your restore and pond detox will make the difference you were hoping for. Wish we could get product like that here in Canada if needed. My pond water temperature a few days ago was 4C and we haven't come close to our winter temperatures yet. So glad my koi are indoors and I don't need to worry about winter cold. Stay safe. 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
Hi Ken, glad I have finally an answer to it too. Hopefully there is no longer term damage to their gills (which seem fine to my eye). I just find it strange that it has happened this year and not before. But then may be since COVID the water chemistry is not the same anymore for houses as a lot of people work now from home and they have to treat waters better (with chemicals) but also we have had a drought, may be this has somehow some impact on water quality. I can't find anything demonstrating this.
Happy holidays Lau... Koi look awsome
And you Gee Love. Hope you are well my man. Have a nice festive season.
Cheers lau👍
Thank you for watching Richard, much appreciated
Your fish eat very well... Very healthy..
Yeah they do. I have no money in my pockets but they are being fed nicely 🙂
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection hahahaha.. so true!!
Hi Lau .
👍 From me
Enjoy your 9.... It's -5 here.. and yes 🇨🇦 is laughing but it was warm yesterday (5) but a 90 km / hr wind changed all that. ..
Your plants are looking great . I put my air on but near the top.... No pumps are on..
Koi are at the bottom not moving the way they are supposed to be. ( For here ) I would be worried if they weren't moving your way 😂. ..
That stuff works well.. hardly clouds water at all.
Sometimes it's good to have a sensative fish just to give you a warning sign like a canary in a mine shaft .
Absolutely agreed with your last statement. You need a sensitive fish to give you warnings. Yeah I am enjoying the 9 in the pond 😁
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Take care my dear friend
@@stubbsaquatics6080 and you Chris.
Hi lau great to see you pond & koi looking awesome. I’ve been using the pond detox now for around 2 months the difference is amazing even the water smells different now especially when I lift the cover open in morning it has that natural stream water smell now. I also use there envirex 2 years now another great product you mite like to look at hope everyone is well have a great Christmas
Hi Tom, ah I was reading the other day about the Envirex on the Lincolnshire fish health. Interesting. Glad to read it has helped your water. It has definitely helped mine in the very short space of time I have been using it. Take care and have a nice Christmas too.
Hi again lau I also enter koi competition
My first go I won 😮
Kusuri ulcer kit only bough 5 tickets awesome. Got my Bakki & micro tickets 😊
That's amazing! Well done on the win. It's so so cool. Our friend won the 15 kg bag of saki hikari.
I am well chuffed for you.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection had tickets for that also but you can’t win them all the best
Just subbed
Thank you. Much appreciated 😊
Glad you got to the bottom of your water issues You now know what you’re dealing with. Nice heads up on the competitions 🙏
Hi, and yes, we know what it is now, let's hope there is no long term damage on their gills.
Lovely update so glad you got to bottom of water issues your fish are looking brilliant stay safe and well 👍👍👍
Thank you Carol. That's right, finally I know what I am dealing with and those two products will neutralise the zinc and aluminium. Not seeing them flash is a bonus now.
Great upload Lau.
Thank you Shaun, much appreciated 👍🏼
Nice update, my pond today was at 6.8 degree's C, but no covering or enclosure, so you are 2 degree's C up on me, showes your enclosure is helping a lot, best wishes, Tony
Hi Tony, being enclosed definitely helps with the wind chill. The roof is not thick but it helps if we get frost later on. I just need to protect the window now. Thank you for watching, much appreciated
A very informative video Lau. Was thinking of going on the Saki Hikari multi season myself
Hi Si, I am normally on JPB Shogun and ProBites winter for the winter food but JPB is impossible to get at the moment and I just finished my bag. So the equivalent was saki hikari multi season. Very good food and not just wheatgerm only which I don't feed.
Nice update Lau 👍. Why have you changed your intro music 🎶. Is it because Derby koi has been using your old intro 🤔
I normally change every 6-8 months. Was going to change it in January and yeah with Andy having problems on their side, thought I might as well change now as it was ready.
Also good to point out that for people with no cover at all that pond detox is an excellent product to use after heavy rainfall, and with no chemical base easy to administer as you cannot overdose, 👍
Very true, I should have spoken about the fact that it neutralise the acid rain. I only mentioned it briefly in my last video. Thank you for watching
👍
Hi Lau, could you share the report/study for the air when covered and the costia issue in spring please..👍😉
I haven't printed the report but read it. If I remember rightly, it was one of the water chemistry guy who spoke about it. It wasn't Syd Mitchell, but it was on the same Facebook page. May be Shaun? But I am not 100% sure. It was only for people who were covered, he was explaining that the air was still necessary to push out and help the gas exchange. I just looked briefly on that page but can't find it. I am not on Facebook often but do read the reports from them. Sometimes I take screen shots of info but didn't keep that one as he doesn't affect me.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection so I could understand the gas exchange but how did the Costia in Spring theory come about if the air is off over winter?
@@KoiPondLifestyle I was just going through the tutorials in French but its not there. I was also looking at the video from Prof. Johnson (US) but there are so many... I don't think it was from South Africa.. so annoying I can't find it. I am pretty sure it was only 3 or 4 months ago.
The main points I took out of that talk was when they were explaining a few things with the air pushed through by the air pump and diffuser (which is not oxygen but air to break the barrier between water and air which then brings the oxygen into the water) helps two things all year round but especially in winter. First was, the air helps to push the organics in the water which eventually go through your filters. They were also saying that parasites like costia thrive in non aerated waters and as soon as people were putting the air back on in spring, it was then like a volcano, and outbreak of costia happened then. There were information about the gas exchange forced by the air bubbles going up and breaking the surface of the water. I'll carry on searching this afternoon for you. It was really interesting and made sense the way they were explaining. It was actually definitely a video as I remember now the volcano thing.
They were explaining that often people think that in spring everything wakes up, which is true in some ways, but that everything was happening in cold waters due to people changing things for the winter (disruption to routine within the pond), often stopping the air or the main pumps.
You have had costia before, haven't you? Can you remember when it happened?
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Costia in my pond seemed to follow Fluke? But this year came without fluke but that was in June. I'm running the air the same way I did last year with no issues coming out of winter or into spring, so I'm real interested about the study to see how they came up with their theories. 🤔🤔
@@KoiPondLifestyle I stop searching as couldn't find anything. It was one of the professor and water chemistry thing as that's almost all I watch at the moment as I've got my teeth onto something at the moment. 😁 it's not exactly a theory as such but more a research.
What is koi detox..?
Pond Detox Formula is a product which neutralises tap water contamination, heavy metals in the water, acid rain if pond is uncovered etc..
👌
Thanks Paul for watching 😉
😄 ᴘʀᴏᴍᴏsᴍ
Interesting to see your point of view. 😁
Here we go again the hikari food praises begin on this channel as well just because someone won a prize on some koi show Lol doesn’t mean it was down to saki hikari, so your argument is like saying oh my friend eats McDonald’s every day and is not fat so I am going to do it as well because it will be the same for me, no one ever compares what is actually in the food compared to others brands to find out there’s nothing special about it in fact it is worse off in terms of protein and contains more ash and you can not feed it to as lower temps, some koi keepers even say their fish hate it but no if someone won a koi show my fish will win too if I feed them hikari right rofl.
That's a funny message but somehow, i don't think you understood the context of my comment at all. So perhaps asking a question would be more appropriate rather than intentionally wanting to be rude and sarcastic, especially commenting on something you do not understand. And no one ever said that the Jenkins win majority of the shows because they feed Saki Hikari Multi Season in winter. It's the only picture I took of them at the National koi show. Again you misunderstood. English is not my first language but that wasn't difficult to understand. I remember you messaging you feed Medikoi, we all do things differently in this hobby, it depends what you aim for in terms of nutrition and other variables in this hobby.
And for your information, I have been feeding Saki Hikari for the past 5 years and Pro Bites for the past year. That will never change.
You are correct with the ash in the multi season, a bit elevated compared to normally what I aim for, but then it's a winter food so it's logical. Ash is not an ingredient added to the food as a lot of people do not know what ash is. I've been in very regular contact with the owner of ProBites for months until two days before he passed, and was born in a farm raising/keeping animals all my life and competing with some, so trust me, nutrition for animals is not something I take lightly.
