- 🔰This is a poem by Stanisław Barańczak that was written in Polish and called "If porcelain then only the kind". The narration was done by Tyler a fellow creator, check out his work (www.artstation.com/sunshine-tm). This poem really made sense to me when this channel was almost deleted and put everything in perspective. I'm really happy that I have the opportunity to showcase it on this channel, I hope you like it.

🔰If porcelain then only the kind by Stanisław Barańczak (translated with the help of Anna Grela)
If porcelain, then only the kind you won’t miss under the shoe of a mover
or the tread of a tank;
if a chair, then not too comfortable, lest
there be regret in getting up and leaving;
if clothing, then just so much as can fit in a suitcase,
if books, then those which can be carried in the memory,
if plans, then those which can be forgotten
when the time comes for the next move
to another street, continent, historical period
or world:
who told you that you were permitted to settle in?
who told you that anything would last forever?
did no one ever tell you that
you will never in this world feel at home?
This is a poem that helped me during the last few weeks after some of my videos got removed and I felt all of my hard work for the last year on this project was for nothing. My mind is in a better place now because I accepted that the world is way too complicated and unstable making it impossible to hold on to anything. However, the reason that I was able to continue wasn't my cynical views on the world, it was the kindness of this community. After this small tragedy, the lesson that I learn about myself is that cynicism may numb the pain but it won't move me forward.
Thank you for sticking around Internet Friends I owe you one.
Forever Humbled,
a kid with a camera
Dear a kid with a camera,
This is a beautiful poem. Change is always coming but never ceases to be difficult. We must learn to love the changes. We must always continue forward. Our lives are an arrow that points to the future. We just have to ride it long enough to make our mark.
Keep creating,
An internet friend
A skeptical mind will keep you out of threats, but a hopeful mind will bring you out of the threats.
How can i get those deleted videos? Are those available on Instagram or facebook?
Do you have another platform where all your videos could be shown?
Renunciation is the key.
"Did no one ever tell you that you will never feel at home in this world? " I like this
yeah...
Can you explain it for me?
This statement itself is incorrect. It is what our religions have made us believe, that we are Not of this world but mere visitors, Not welcome.
Please search for the words of Mr. Alan Watts on youtube itself. He explains how we are actually From This World and each of us is the universe looking at itself in awe simply just the way we are at the moment in our lives.
The points this poem makes are right but the perspective of the last line neeeeeds to be different. We need not feel like strangers entering someone elses house. This IS our Home.
Please spend time finding his talks. His words changed my life!
@@johnybrokeit I listened to hundreds of hours of watts. If your on Illneas page you probably have. Relax it's just a nice quote about the journey to find peace.
I feel like I am home in this world. If you don’t don’t take it out on me. Perhaps you would feel better when you will be in hell.
“...did no one in this world ever tell you that you will never feel at home?”
... no.
So that’s why I’m making one.
If porcelain then let it be the kind that you can be fine with under the tread of a tank. Otherwise, nice.
Nice approach didn't think of that

I was told that i was the only one and we were pledged by Heavenly Father for and to one another & our love least forever. I was a willing participant, i granted trust where it now seems i shouldn't have. As soon as i trusted & accepted this as true, i discovered it was not true. You will never in this world feel like home, that's because this world isn't home :)
everywhere is home
A home is somewhere sturdy and reliable and constant. This world will be gone to us eventually. It's just a place to be for a little while before we move on again.
I cannot find words to express my joy that polish writer was acknowledged on this channel ^^
There is so much beauty hidden behind language barriers, I'm glad I found this.
Yes, there is so much
*"Did no one ever tell you that you will never in this world feel at home"*
*I felt that with every inch of my body...*
I don't know that this comforts me per se, but it does express my angst and anxieties about my issues with chronic homelessness. I've always stress over losing this and discarding that. Now after nearly a decade of "alternative" living in a temporary "home" that i have created for me and my dog, i am still riddled by knowing that i could and likely will become once again- transient and retaining things like my years of writing in notebooks, on scraps of paper, on thumb drives, in computers; the books i own ( a lot of Bukowski); my belongings : art work, clothes, utensils, a stove for cooking, a bed, sheets for the bed, pillows, tools, hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergents, bleach, cups, pots, frying pans, cooking oil, stereo equipment, tape measures, odds and ends; it never ends. But the stress, the worry, the dread, all the losses of yesteryear times and even the keeping of my life out on the streets, this is endless. I know it so well, it is a part of me more then all the material goods. And it has been a part for a very long time. It is something i try feverishly to explain in my writing. It's difficult to express, this piece you uploaded begins to, but falls short for me. Keeping and controlling and having and endurance is much harder to fathom then i have read anywhere by anybody and is the work of most poets i suppose.
Every work of art falls short for our realities, use this poem as an inspiration to say your story.
I'm so sorry to read about your situation and your very justifiable anxieties. No one should have to live in your circumstances. There is enough for all.
@@johnsrome8459 I read your full first reply in my email where i get comment replies. Very kind and compassionate, thanks. I don't need any thing at all. I am in Florida USA. Its not a matter of homeless shelters or outreach programs for me. Even with those places you cannot expect to retain the life you have, the things you gather with our years. And my situation isn't dire, it gets dire from time to time. I was expressing my utter sense of desperation that comes from the homelessness i have know, and the looming threat of it when i am sheltered; the loss of work, items, stuff. Look, if you go to my "about" tab in my channel on youtube you can find my email and if you like you might write me and i will write back, it's better then communicating this way in comments. Thanks for being you. I admire the qualities you display. Sincerely Norman.
@@SIONARAFLORIDA Thank you very much for your kind & earnest response, Norman. I edited my initial response quite fiercely as I am aware of my tendency to simply write too much, to over indulge, go off on fanciful tangents and I'm trying to discipline that for it illuminates nothing! However, it seems you did not find my response too tiresome and I wish you the very best of possible outcomes for you in the near future (I know, it's like wishing upon a Star with your fingers crossed but without some form of empathy & compassion what are we left with as social animals?). Take care of yourself, Mr. Hauser.
I love Bukowski , what a guy BUT he can make you feel down or make you think I'm glad I'm not feeling like that ....illneas poems and videos are much the same ,thought provoking ,mood provoking , it's not always easy to be on the bright side of life . Somewhere in the grey of life is where a lot of us are at the minute but always hope for some light ,seek it ,find it in a walk , a notation a book maybe but it's a bit of hope and happiness when you do . Stay safe .
"You will never in this world feel like home," that resonates with me. Live, life, dreams, aspirations, all leave with the idea of living. Nothing lasts forever, yet we hold on to memories or things that aren't tangible. This poem inspires me to see the truth inside of me.

It’s a poem, not advice. It’s a sad expression of a polish man watching everything he held dear be gone in a time with much defeat and loss. I feel for that guy. This poem is never supposed to teach.

@@rubennordberg8133 You didn’t provide an argument. You provided a quote that doesn’t even apply in this context. What? You can’t write your own arguments? I’d rather reply to a live person than to a quote by a dead person taken out of context.

It's quite amazing how wise words can uplift the soul. Makes me think of Kipling's quote - "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind". I would add to this to know oneself is to claim true happiness. Nice vid!

Lovely 💛 I really like the sentence "who told you that anything would last forever" and I found the shot at 1:03 with the lampost and the sea - beautiful 🌊
I love every line of this poem, that was a windy day at the sea. ^^
"Did no one ever tell you that you will never feel at home in this world? " If our lives can be summarized in one truth, then this is it. No matter if we are stricken by poverty, affluence, fame, or luxury, we always want more than our circumstances. And eventually, we all die, leaving our accumulated wealth to others to use. This just hit me.
Cancer will last forever. Sadists who torture me aren’t going anywhere until I am gone. And they always been there from the really beginning.

illneas, a big, warm Thank You!
in Poznan (PL) this poem is made into a mural. in January i spent a week in Poznan walking a trace of murals with Polish poems.
as a native to Polish poetry i'd love it if you made a video with one of Zbigniew Herbert's poems (some also made into murals in Poznan). he was an avid consumer of classical art, travelled in Greece extensively and derived plenty of inspiration from its ancient history and mythology. interestingly, Stanisław Barańczak was one of translators who brought Herbert's poetry to English-speaking audience. the other great translator of Herbert's works was Czesław Miłosz (1980 Nobel Prize in Literature awardee).
yes, I'm Polish an I apologize if this essay is too long :P

This is so true. Nothing lasts forever. Everything is transient and moving however slowly. Everything is decaying. Everything is vibrating. Everything is temporary even yourself.
Yet there is one thing that we all share in this and have from the first live form and will till the last. This is consciousness, by this I mean the one true consciousness that we all come from and will all go back to when our physical form ends.
Some think it will continue on after the last live form has gone. An it may, but I cannot know this. I do know that right now I am directly connected with everything though this most magnificent sentience or awareness of external existence. I think the most beautiful and powerful of things this has to offer us is simply the now as one.
This maybe the first and last you will ever see my reply or see your comment. It justs that and it aleeady sadden me

I love your vids, man. Since I've seen your montages with Bukowski's poems, and now with that Barańczak poetry. You are trurly a visual artist and composer. Keep it up, greetings from Poland.
This video found me when I needed it
I have many tattoos and they all have meaning to me. Yet the one that has constant meaning is the one that reads “nothing lasts forever” to me it’s a reminder on the fragility of life and all that surrounds us. How everything is decaying no matter how slowly. Everything comes from and will return to the greater consciousness.
I really like your work.
I just wanted to say it was your channel that introduced me to Bukowski, and other poets, it's been about a year. I wish I could go back to when I first heard his words.
Haha, it was the same for me. I first heard Bukowski from Illneas and I was blown away. His channel was the type of channel I've been searching for for years and I'm very grateful that I came across it. What's your favourite poem?
Yeah, needed that so badly. Thank you.
I know right! It's been too long since Illneas last uploaded, I really hope he does weekly videos if that's possible for him one day. I remember checking his channel pretty much everyday in the 2 months he was absent, his videos mean alot to me.
There's so much truth to that poem, and things to really take into consideration, but I think it's also really important to not grow unattached to what's around you. *because* life is so transient, wouldn't it be such a shame if we didn't share the company of others, love, and feel peaceful and happy? this poem is such a great reminder that things won't last, but don't let that fact define how you interact with people and things around you, you'd end up lonely. use it to help you when you have to move on, not as a reminder to make it so you *never* have to feel the sorrow of moving on. I hope that makes sense.. As always, love the video. I'm always happy to see your content :)
Congrats for 100 k

This is beautiful
Yes, at times it is better to feel the dread and beauty of being singular and alone (with oneself, or even among a group of people, or a crowd). To remind oneself of uncertainties and all kinds of possibilities is one way to prepare to be self-reliant. To learn to live alone, have nobody desirable around when needed; it comes from an urge of the very means and under compelling circumstances.
:)
It feels at ease to keep reminding myself that yes, everything that makes me happy now will end someday, die out, leave me behind. That way I can live in the present and be thankful for the now.
Thank you for sharing this, although I have it read the poem properly again.
