Just incredible. Liang is definitely showing more Fan Zhendong style qualities against Xu Xin, with his slight chubbiness and his ability to turn Xu Xin's spin into raw speed. I really hope Xu Xin goes on to win the Marvellous 12. He really deserves a shot at the Olympics Singles.

Xu is really uncomfy with him. he prefers players with a well defined game plan. at least if he can read it. which is not really the cas with LJK. since many years.

Wow, LJK played the match of his life. There were a few of XX's serves he just dismissed out right, I've never seen that done before. Great mental toughness by XX, but some weakness showing as well, since he favours his backhand side so much. ML did the same, but he is older now and not as agile, and is struggling when opponents punish his open forehand side. Xuperman is not slow yet, but it's a dangerous slippery slope.

I am new to Table Tennis so bare with me but it seems they are
    1. hiding the ball during serves (with head, body or both)
    2. throw the ball at the bat during serves (towards themselves)
    3. there seems to also be some cupping of the ball during serves
how lax are the services rules? It seems kinda vague.

What a match! Liang Jingkun was on fire at the start. His backhand receive was for winners and his block is even crisper than Harimoto's! How did he lose this match? Paradoxically, he froze a bit at the end when Xu Xin looped from far away and Liang blocked out. And Xu Xin is just ice cool at the end. He has escaped defeat by the smallest margins time and time again.
